A few of the treats and treasures are already purchased and waiting to cheer someone. The rest?
Still at the store.
So, get on with your day and pop back in later. Hopefully I’ll have an update and a picture posted of said girly, fall give away. In the mean time, be thinking of a fall favorite of yours you can leave a comment on: favorite aspect of fall, autumn memory or yummy, warm-up recipe. All those who leave a comment sharing any “fall favorite” will be placed in the drawing for the giveaway.
Right now, I need to hit the books with my boys. Let’s hope it is a better day than yesterday when my eleven-year old, bored with his science assignment, asked if instead of T and F for ‘true’ and ‘false, he could put RO and BC for ‘right on’ and ‘bull crap’!!!
Yikes!
Autumn Blessings,

Boys—sometimes you just have to laugh and throw up your hands.
Fall is my FAVORITE season. I was married in October, I love hot apple cider and making pumpkin pies. My husband loves pumpkin pie and asks every year who made the rule that it is only a fall dessert–LOL I love sweatshirts and jeans and walking in the leaves. It’s a time of reflection and shedding of all the outward beauty. AHHH Fall.
I LOVE Fall! I love the chill in the air, the wind as it wisps through the trees, and the leaves. The glorious leaves! Love ‘em! I love wearing long sleeved shirts and jeans and being comfortable. I love eating chili, soup, and red beans and rice. Yup, I love fall alright!
Prayers and blessings,
Rebecca
I love Fall! Enjoying the beautiful colors during car trips is one of my favorite activities or hiking in the crisp weather. I love al things pumpkin…..pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin smoothies, pumpkin pancakes….you get the point.
Add 1/3 c of canned pumpkin to your pancake recipe or cooked oatmeal. Delicious!!
LOL! I love your son’s suggestion!
Fall is my absolute favorite season. I love the colors, the leaves changing, taking walks in the crisp air, having fires and making smores with my family and drinking apple cider
Yay! Anything to do with fall is my absolute FAVORITE! What a great idea!
P.S. Your son sounds a lot like mine!! Too funny!
great idea for a giveaway!!! thank you for all you do to encourage women and moms!!! i was at hearts at home this past weekend i didn’t get to hear you speak =( i did last year though and loved it.
I loved your son’s response to the T/F questions! That’s probably better than a response of “What does T and F stand for?” I’m homeschooling my 6th grade daughter and love it. It definitely challenging at times, and I freak out now-and-then thinking I’m not doing enough; but overall it’s such a wonderful experience!!! We only do one year (long story), but it works out just great!
And yes, Fall is wonderful – especially in the Midwest!!! I love this time of year!!!!!
Hey there! I cannot believe that Kenzie is at college! I remember when she was a baby! I love fall because of Uncle Johns Cider Mill! I love their donuts and cider and we take the kids at least 2 times or more in the fall for a little treat! Hope you have a blessed day!
I love the crispness in the air. It just smells of fall! The best thing about this time of year is the crockpot and soups are once again in season! Here’s an easy pink chili for the crockpot. Take 1 jar great nothern beans, one jar salsa and one block of montery jack cheese chopped, cook on low all day (or till cheese melts). Serve with warm bread, ymmm! Now that’s fall!
Yay fall!!!!
Love it! Love pumpkin smell, vanilla lotion AND coffee!!! Hope I get this one!
My husband & I both were born in October so it has been a special month for us. We look forward to the cooler weather, the changing leaves here in the mountains and the fog that rolls through. There’s nothing like pumpkin and apple pie made from scratch the way Grandma makes it. We look forward to the aroma that fills our home while cooking fall favorites. I look out the window and see all the colors and it brings back memories of growing up in my Grandmother’s home, playing in the leaves and swinging on the front porch with her while she read the Bible and we children were wrapped in a blanket. Fall always reminds me of her, one of Gods best ladies.
I love the cooler weather and the changing leaves. I love that my 14 year old daughter is still asking to go pick pumpkins with the family! (enjoying while I can and we are going Sat.)
My son brought a pumpkin start home in June from school. We planted in a friends garden and it grew quite big. He has it and can’t wait to carve it. Oh the fun of fall.
Autumn is positively my favorite time of year. For me, it’s the time of new beginnings far more than the new year in January. It’s yellow school buses, ribbons of road pasted with wet leaves for driving adventures, stands of oaks and maples, arms crossed like soldiers. Sharpened pencils, new notebooks [brings out the writer in me] and cinnamon, pumpkin scents. It is nostalgic and crisp; reflective and cozy.
Fall is my most favorite time of year, too.
My family and I just spent a week in a cabin on a lake in northern Wisconsin where the leaves are already in the midst of changing…it was a beautiful and peaceful time away for us.
Hi Karen!!
This is the first time I have been on your site and I am excited!
One of my favorite things about fall taking my boys to pick out pumpkins and go to Uncle Johns to get cider and donuts…they truly are the best there!! I also LOVE lighting candles that smell like pumpkin pie, or apple cider…yummy!
Baking pumpkin anything . . . pie, cake, cookies . . . yum!
Howdy friend! Well Fall used to be my favorite time of year before moving to Florida…now it is one of my favorite memories!! Fall is probably the time is miss the most in Michigan, the smell of the leaves; walking in the field or the woods without fear of being attacked by a gator or huge snake! Weekly trips to Uncle Johns! I am about to decorate for the fall this week and it certainly stirs up memories; but I think I will just drown them by jumping in the pool!! Have a great day!!
COLORS…definitely the beautiful colors of fall! Growing up in Miami, FL I never saw the change of seasons, so now I truly appreciate it – colors and majesty of our Creator. Anything fall…cider, pies, parties…oh, the list goes on!!!
I love fall. I love going for drives and looking at the leaves. I love going camping in the fall and sitting around a campfire. It is one of my favorite times of the year.
Karen…Awesome idea! Fall is great…what’s not to like! I love watching the leaves turn and then raking them up with them up with the kids only to see them jump into them
I love the smells of fall reminds me of family and enjoying a piece of pumpkin pie by the fire. Lastly, I enjoy the pumpking carving party that we put on for friends and family every Octber. I would love to win your basket…thanks for all you do.
Joellen
Man, I just love that our Creator would bless us with such a deep & beautiful season right before the long cold dark winter days come, which seem neverending!
I take the kids to pick their pumpkin: if they can carry it, then it’s theirs. The first day of fall is filled with apple foods, cider in our special autumn mugs, and a walk in the forest preserve to see if we can spot any leaves changing color.
I love seasons where I can hibernate in my home with a mug, cozy socks & sweaters & blankets with yummy candles burning.
Hey, Karen! I would think the Keep it Simple Woman would tell her son to keep it simple with true or false!
Oh, and you’d be proud of me…I’ve actually put up a few fall decorations this year. I guess it’s going to be a process of putting together my collection, huh? Well…hope you’re doing well and many blessings!!
My favorite fall memory is getting married the Saturday before Thanksgiving nearly 24 years ago. We honeymooned in historic St. Augustine, Florida, and enjoyed our Thanksgiving feast at a French restaurant there.
Last year, I created a photo blog post on our autumn decorations. You can find it here: http://virginiaknowles.blogspot.com/2008/09/easy-autumn-decorating-on-dime.html
Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the colors, the food (all things apple), the return of football season. I look forward to pulling out my autumn decorations and candles, too.
My favorite part of fall is bon-fires. I just love sitting around a warm bon-fire and relaxing with friends. Can’t forget the smores.
I also love the fall outdoor colors and it seems I appreciate them more the older I get! I love anything homemade with apples…applesauce, apple crisp, apple cake, baked apples,…yum!
Favorite Fall Memory:
I remember raking leaves with Mom and Dad. Then we would leap into the piles and throw leaves at one another! We did eventually clean up the leaves. I still love the smell of fall, leaves, and marshmallows roasting over the fire. Fall is also a great time of reflection for me as I watch the leaves change and prepare for winter.
Fall is my all time favorite time of year. I love watching the landscape change…it’s as if God uses a big paint brush and gives us a new painting each week to enjoy. Plus the annual trip to Uncle Johns for cider and donuts has been a momory of mine from childhood…now we take my daugheter! And who can resist football cheering on your highschool kids to victory!
First of all, I am also homeschooling an 11 year old boy, and can I really RELATE with you. My daughters are 23 & 25. He was my big-surprise-no-its-not-menopause baby at age 41.
Anyways….I started homeschooling in 1996. Fall became a favorite with us, because we didn’t have the dreaded start of school issue. We live in Western NY State. If the weather cooperates, we just love to ride on the back roads and absorb the beautiful colors. Fall also signifies fall festivals with pumpkins, apples, grapes, cider & donuts (and many other goodies!)
I can also relate, Karen, to your missing Kenzie. My 23 daughter was married at age 21. She still lives in the same town as myself, but what a melancholy time. I cried for quite a few months every time I walked into her old bedroom – what a sappy mom I can be! Guess it is cause I am mostly Italian!
Fall is my favorite season. I love the colors, scents, food and football! My most favorite part of the season is pumpkin ice cream!
I love Fall, all of the beautiful colors, cooler weather, except we don’t get much of that in the Houston, TX area! I can dream though.I love to bake my grandmother’s pumpkin pie, gather with friends and family for football, foo, fun & fellowship. Keep posting pictures of what Fall really looks like!
One of my favorite memories of fall involves jumping into a huge pile of leaves with my sister. Every year, my dad would gather all the leaves in one spot for us to jump in. That is, until one time we jumped in, and a critter of some sort scurried out. It suddenly didn’t seem like so much fun!
Happy Fall!
I love fall! I love all the harvesty things that go with it, and when I was a kid, that meant spending a lot of time in the kitchen. I loved helping Mom peel apples and run the food mill to can applesauce – there’s nothing better than sweet, homemade applesauce. Homemade pumpkin pie is good, too, and after my great-grandmother taught me how to make pie crust her way, my mom and I would work together to make the pies for Thanksgiving. I’d make the crust, and my mom would make her mother’s tricky pumpkin filling. Even now, as soon as the weather starts to cool and leaves begin falling, I head to the market to get a bushel of apples and start making pies. Yum!
I enjoy the Fall too!!!! My favourite thing about the fall is celebrating my anniversary. My husband and I were married on a beautiful day in October. I love the feel of fall, the smell of fall, the colour of fall and the food of fall!
Thanks for doing this give-away. Don’t know that I’m really eligible as I’m from Ontario, but thought I’d share my fall favourites anyway.
Have a great day!
Joy
What a great blog, including two of my favorite things – fall and boys! That comment by your son cracked me up! And the fall crafts by McKenzie made me teary and led me to pray for you guys! melanie
It would be so easy to just say “ditto” to everyone’s post. I, too, love fall. The colors, smells, temperature. When I was younger my brother and I rode horses. Once we came over a hill and all the trees were gold, red and yellow. My brother commented that they look like they were on fire. He was only 10 and it was a very special moment for us. Fall was also my father’s favorite time and he passed away two summers ago.
Fall … The crackle of a fire, the crunch of leaves under foot, the harvest sky, watching cherub children take a running leap as they jump high into the autumn air, and land with a swoosh in the mile high fragrant scarlet & gold leaves, topped off with a nice bowl of pumpkin soup, a swig of cider, and some cinnamon dusted donuts. That’s my picture of fall — a bowl of yum. Thank you Karen, for reminding all of us of the joys of fall. Bless.
I LOVE FALL! It’s my favorite season. I am a photographer so it’s prime time for me. I love the beautiful trees and bushes, apple orchards, apple cider, candles that smell of cinnamon and autumn smells….I could go on. I live in Michigan too and it’s been days of rain and we can’t really enjoy fall right now so I’m hoping for a little less rain so I can take the kids to the apple orchard. Ps I truly enjoyed your American Idle at Hearts At Home, thanks for keeping it real and sharing the real you to the real us. You’re a blessing.
Too funny about the RO and BC options. I love a windy, blustery Pooh-type day in the fall. Kicking through leaves with my jacket collar turned up gets all the cobwebs out of my brain and, cold nose and ear tips nothwithstanding, gets me all set for the best time of the year.
I love fall! I love the cool crisp air & colorful leaves. I love apple orchards and pumpkins, candles and camp fires. I love hiking through the mountains and walking beside a mountain river! My family usually takes at least one trip to the mountains during the fall. It is always my chance to thank God for His wonderful, majestic glory!
Karen, I adore fall. When we lived in Arizona for five years we yearned to experience the wonders of Fall. To witness the changes in the color of foliage and then to see the trees shed those leaves and prepare for a season of rest. Fall always reminds me of the seasons of life and what beauty comes in the Spring along with the changes that God has made in my life.
Love to you and thank you for your ministry!
Being a “runner girl” I am enjoying the cool fall weather and I’m glad not to have to run 10+ miles in the heat and humidity we have all summer long here in Virginia. That said, I really love the change of seasons best. Crisp fall days are great, winter cold is good as long as it doesn’t last too long, spring is really my favorite season, and summer is fun because it always seems to go at a more relaxed pace. Your comment about your boys made me laugh. My boy is a senior in college and I rarely get to see him. Enjoy yours while you can!
My favorite thing about fall is the beautiful oranges and reds of the leaves. I also like raking big piles of leaves and jumping in them with my kiddos. I also really enjoy making soups, chili, and muffins so at the first hint of cooler air, I am ready to make fall food! In fact we had roasted vegetable soup and bran muffins for supper tonight. Yummy! The soup is really easy to make. You just roast any veggies you like in a 425 degree oven for about 25 min. I toss them with olive oil and course salt first. Then put them in a large pot with 1 qt. chicken stock and 2-4 cups chicken broth. Simmer for about 30 minutes. Sometimes I puree the soup so I can hide things like rutabega! Tonights soup was made with leftover veggies from Monday night! Super easy and quite delicious!
Fall is just a yummy time of year! I love the beginning of a new school year! The fall high school football games on Friday nights in my small town. The whole town shows up at the games, and we visit! It is so much fun with a hint of coolness in the air and the crickets begin to hop around more. The fall holidays: Halloween and Thanksgiving are some of my favorites. Thank God for Fall and for for you!
I love fall with its crisp breezes and beautiful colors. I just hope it lasts awhile since I heard it is supposed to snow Tuesday! I heard you at Hearts at Home this past weekend and I just wanted to say “thank you for sharing”. I was so encouraged to know that other people go through the ups and downs, too. Thank you for being real and sharing from your heart.
Fall is my favorite time of year! My birthday is in October, so that’s always a plus. I love the crisp air, the bright colors and it always reminds me of family. Growing up Thanksgiving was the holiday that all of our family gathered at home (my grandparents house actually). Those weekends hold some of my sweetest memories. I also enjoy baking these muffins…Pumpkin chocolate chip…they bring such a warm, spicey smell to the house.
My favorite fall recipe is definitely pumpkin oatmeal — I love adding canned pumpkin and chocolate chips to my oatmeal. A tasty (if a little decadent) way to start a morning
FAll…..memories of my children raking and jumping in the leaves when they were young. Trips along the Blue Ridge Parkway – driving and then stopping to hike and take pictures in the beautiful Virginia mountains. Carving pumpkins, separating the “goo” from the seeds. Toasting the seeds to eat – yummy! I love the change in seasons, the chill in the air, the beautiful reminders in nature of God’s bounty.
Hi,
This is my first visit here and I see this fantabulous give away. The lip gloss and candles sound especially scrumptious.
Please enter me in the drawing.
My favorite part of autumn is that we get rain, precious rain. Where I live we get no rain in summer, and today I eagerly await rain forecast for early next week.
The air will smell so good and rain is God’s way of washing all the plants and trees which I love. Everything including the air will be so clean after a rain.
Hi,
Had to come out of hiding for this great giveaway!!!
I’m a lurker!
Fall is one of my favorite seasons (Spring being the other)! My best fall memories are of those with my Grandaddy and jumping in his leaf piles!!! I still love to do that with my kids!
Happy Fall Ya’ll!!!
Ditto to all of those above….I love fall!!!! …the leaves, the crisp air, family memories and the changing of another season….. Which in turn brings my focus back to God and how he is changing me and others everyday…..sometimes it’s a bold change like the red in maple leaves …. sometimes is like the amber ones… quitely being molded to be more like him…. what a wonderful God that gives us such variety and knows that, as long as we are on this earth, we are have room in our lives for a little change.
I think getting to wear pretty sweaters again is one of my favorite things about fall…cranberry, mauve, dark teal, plum…and also wearing velvet and warm scarves too with jeans and boots….I also love making hot apple spiced cider and letting it simmer on the stove all day….love how it is cool in the mornings and evenings, but so far anyway, has been sunny and crisp during the days in October this year, in the lovely Pacific NW!
I love that fall is the start of soup season! Soup is just so warm and cozy. I also love the changing colors of the leaves. The most beautiful leaves I’ve seen are on the East Coast. I wish I could get there again in the fall to see them.
I love the colors, flavors, and smells of fall. Most of all, though, I think I love pulling out my cozy pajamas and sleeping under a stack of blankets.
I love making smores on the deck over our firepit! It brings the kids together (at 14 and 22 that’s not always easy!) and is a great way to invite neighbors over and re-connect. I, too, love the cool mornings and evenings – so refreshing after a sometimes too hot summer!
My fav part of fall is the beautiful coloring of the leaves on a long country road drive and of course I always love Halloween. Thanks for the giveaway.
Love the smell of fall!
Shannon
Love getting to know Proverbs 31
women
Yes, fall is beautiful here in Hershey PA
so cool crisp lovely!!!!
Fall is my favorite time of the year! The leaves expressing God’s delight in color – the fresh breezes with a nip in the air –
My husband, son-n-love, have the same birthday Oct 20,
My # 1 grandson is on Oct 26, and mine is Oct 30 – it is a full month for us! Of course by the time the boys get through celebrating – mine is a “we love you mom and gramma!” – which is really what I want the most anyway – is their love!
As the fall leaves fall it is also a reminder that it is time to let some things go – because God has promised he will bring new things in the spring. He is just so serendipitious like that!
I am with you on the weight loss journey–non of us can do this alone. I weigh in once a week with my husband.
I have weighed the same for several years, but all the excess has gone south! around the middle! I cannot zip some of my jackets I need a group too thanks for being there Judy
