Welcome to all you who’ve joined us via the guest post I have running over at LeAnn Rice’s She Cooks. There is a fun kitchen giveaway over there. And right here you have a chance for a back-to-school organizational giveaway for grown ups!
Double the fun!
Double the chances!
I don’t want to take time here to chat since I really hope you’ll visit She Cooks and see what’s cookin’ over there
So, I’ll just tell you about the giveaway and give you chance to win!
Since all the kiddos are buying pencils and pens; notebooks and notions, I thought we’d give away some organizational “officey” stuff for big girls! This giveaway includes:
~ Some funky push pins
~ Some matching funky big paper clips
~ A set of push pins with clips for items like coupons, reminder notes, lunch money, etc..
~ An equally funky desk pad that lists the days of the week. You can use this to display your to do list, your menu plan, your prayer list. Anything goes! It is undated so you can begin using it any time of the year.
~And a signed and personalized copy of my book The Complete Guide to Getting and Staying Organized. It tackles how to take care of the ‘have tos’ of life (cooking, cleaning, shopping, laundry, errands, dealing with paper piles, etc) in an efficient manner so you can get around to the ‘want tos’ of life (spending time with God, your family, or friends or pursuing a hobby or interest)
So, simply leave a comment telling us the one project you’ve had on the back burner for waaaaay too long that you wish you could tackle this weekend.
I’ll go first.
I wish the world would stop so I could take about three hours to steal away at a coffee shoppe (with some friends along for company of course–working on their chosen projects) to sip lattes and transfer all of my sticky notes, scribbled napkins, pieces of scrap paper and corners of Christmas card envelopes with all the latest addresses I need to update into a nice, new address book.
I’m talkin’ about 5 years worth of addresses, people! Currently, they are all shoved into my old, falling-apart, excuse-of an-address-book. Positively pitiful!
Now, how about you?

I want to get all the random canning jars in my kitchen back to their shelves in the basement and return my kitchen to a normal, uncluttered condition!
I want to clean out my garage so I can park my car. Also find all of my Christmas items, I just pack out there somewhere.
I need to clean out my daughter’s room. She starts preschool next week so that is top on my priority while she is gone.
I would like to clean out my closet. Get rid of the “maybe I’ll wear this again someday” items and get organized.
I would like to have time to cook ahead (at least meats, if not a whole meal) so our evening meals are more enjoyable during this busy time of life. Since we moved a month ago, I haven’t had time to do so.
I have a spare bedroom that has become a “catch all” for anything and everything. I would like to have the time to clean out and go through the things that have accumulated in that room. It would be nice to have a bedroom instead of a “junk room”.
I want to get my entire house organized. I use to be so good at keeping up with things but for some reason have let things go. My lawn is in dire need of some attention and as a single, full-time working mom, there just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day to get it all done. I praise God for all the blessings he has given me and for the times that I chose to say ‘yes’ to my children in spending time with them instead of cleaning the house. But somewhere, somehow, i’ve got to get things in order. This weekend will be the yardwork……
Mine is to clean out the office closet. We moved 18 months ago and that office closet is just the same as the day we moved in! Random stuff we didn’t know what to do with.
I want to give my house a deep cleaning. Get rid of the “stuff” we don’t need or use anymore. I would love to be more organized, (used to be before kids. Just can’t seem to get back to it, although I have tried.) Then I could take a day to just sit back and relax.
I really want to just get the house organized. Give away things we don’t need, use or wear anymore. And get papers, pictures and such all organized.
I want to finish my 5 year old daughters baby book. She has a 5 month old brother now. I know I need to finish hers before I get started on her brother’s book !!
I would love to clean and organize my laundry room and give it a fresh coat of paint.
I would tackle the recipe folder I have. I say folder because it is literally a two pocket recycled folder from our previous women’s retreat. It is overflowing with scraps of paper, torn our magazine pages, and some actual recipe cards. I have holiday recipes with my holiday decorations and I have stacks of cookbooks that are dog eared. Every year when it is time to do holiday baking I go crazy trying to find my recipes. It really is a mess.
I would love to get my scrapbook items organized. My boys are 8 and 4 and I am so far behind and have too many piles of things I want to put in their scrapbooks.
I want to get my basement back into acceptable shape. After spending the last 3 years helping to take care of my Mom, there is much clutter from not having enough hours in the day to take care of everything. Mom passed in Feb. and it has been a hard adjustment to make. The world does not stand still for mourning. Now that fall is here and canning season is almost over, it is time to put the basement back in order. Thank you for the chance to win.
Oh the list, it’s long, it’s old and I’m weary to write about it; but the weeding of my lawn is long overdue. Also, I’ve been chipping away at organizing my “office”. Quite a process, but this Saturday is the first Saturday in over a year that I’m not working and don’t have other plans.
I want to get my photos organized. I don’t even want to say how many years worth are in envepoles, tucked into a very pretty – and overflowing – basket and still on memory cards.
Granted I have much to organize, but since we are in the drama of redoing our bath, new roof, walls, etc… I am satisfied I got through all our closets and bagged stuff to donate these past two weeks. So I hope to tackle some baking and get some cookies tucked away in the freezer for packed lunches and snacking.
I have my finger in too many pies apparently – as I read the other comments I kept thinking, “ooh, I want to do that too!” What I would love to do is get caught up on this entire year (so far) of scrapbooking. My hubby & children love looking through our memories, yet I haven’t touched the pictures yet for this year.
I’d love to organize all my “clipped, written on the back of envelopes, printed off web-site recipes and put them into a brand new recipe book! My recipes are in such a mess, it’s a wonder I can cook!! I have a treasure trove that currently looks like a pig pen!
Just ONE? I literally made a four page list the other day of all the projects around here I need to do! LOL Cleaning out my computer files and making back-ups is very important, but I would also really like to clean out the closet of my two younger daughters. The oldest leaves for her second year of college tomorrow, and soon we are hoping to give her larger room to the younger two, and delegate her down to the smaller room since now she is only home for break time. But since we are TAKING her to school and helping her move into a small efficiency this weekend, I guess everything else is on hold!
My project would be my basement. Too many times things get sent to the basement because we don’t know what else to do with them…and now the basement is a disaster! Would love to have a nice, neat, organized basement.
Oh boy…if I had to pick one, then it would be repainting the white woodwork inside and outside of the house. It’s a project where the kids need to occupied in order to accomplish. Easier said then done.
The list is LONG, but the one that has been on the back burner for the longest is the RECIPES! They cut from magazines, cut from boxes, printed off from online, written down from various places, etc., and they are all thrown into a hidden away cabinet… I would love to have neat, organized, and easy to access!
If I had the time, I’d love to organize the closets and organize all my recipes.
Organize my pantry. And since one of the shelf supports broke the other day, it’s actually going to happen. I have to pull everything out so DH can do the repairs. And believe me, once it’s all out, it’s not all going back. Thankful for a husband who is happy to help and a free weekend to get it done!
I would like to get my Quicken files updated from 2008 moving forward!!!!! Talk about putting something off . . .
I would like to clean out closet in guest bedroom that has boxes packed up from when we moved from GA to NC seven years ago..yes 7 years ago! Obviously we don’t need most of it because we haven’t seen it in seven years.
I want to tackle all the sketches and tutorials that I have printed out over the past couple of years. They need to organized into binders so that I can actually create with them.
Seriously, I have several projects on the back burner. Scrapbooking and cardmaking, which I really enjoy, but always gets pushed back. I would love to spend two or three weekends getting organized and finishing some projects
I would love to get all my favorite recipes organized online so I can easily access and share them.
I desperately want to clean my closet!!! I can barely see the floor. I had surgery a few months back and ever since even the most basic chores have been “a chore”… so things have really gone by the way side…
Scrapbooking photos. I have become a scrapbook supply collector and need to start (and finish) at least one scrapbook. I’m so overwhelmed I put off working on it. Also, I really do not care for filing monthly paperwork at home. I end up stacking it in piles and then once or twice a year, I finally feel ashamed enough to file them away!
I would like to organize my photos and scrapbooking supplies so they are all in one location!
I’ve been wanting to work on taking off the wallpaper in my kitchen ever since we moved here (one year ago!). Maybe next week?!
I NEED TO ORGANIZED EVERY WHERE . THIS WEEK-END I NEED TO GET ORGANIZWD AND BEAD SOME JEWLERY FOR 10 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER AND SEVERAL FRIENDS. ONE THAT JUST HAD KNEE SURGERY . MY BEST FRIEND IN TOWN AND A NEW FRIEND AT CHURCH. OF COURSE THE DEVIL DON’T WANT ME TO ACCOMPLISH THAT SO I AM IN TERRIBLE SHOULDER PAIN. DEVIL IS A LIAR AND GOD’S WORD IS TRUE. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS.
i so need to organize my desk and my scrapbook stuff!
I need to organize my attic space.
I need to clean the closet in our bedroom, seriously~there are clothes from wayyyy back in there.
I so desperately need to organize my utility room! I have all my sewing stuff, my husbands computer stuff, my canning jars and stuff plus so much other stuff that I am not even aware of and it is need of some organizing.
My list is long too…but I’ll have to say making my new 9 year old son’s Christmas stocking. He joined my family from Ethiopia in February and this will be his first “American” Christmas. I’m excited! Thanks for the contest! Sweet blessings.
Hahahaha…I only need to say one word to describe this closet and I know many out there will know what I’m saying…SCRAPBOOKING!
OMG! Where to start. I would love to e more organized with my scrapbooking and card making. I also need to work on my recipe albumes and be more organized with them. And i really need to begin my beading projects. I think i really need to better organize my time so i can do these things. Thanks Karen for the opportunity to win this prize. It sounds great and I love those sort of things. have a great day
I need to tackle the playroom/library & the “classroom” in the basement….the intent was to do it before our school year began, especially as this year there will be three for me to teach. It’s out of sight, but definitely not out of mind. The playroom is the worst, total disaster area and I am the Great Procrastinator. I have great intentions when it comes to organizing, but my follow-thru is lacking in a big, big way.
I wish I would take the time to find all of the packing boxes (from a move 3 1/2 years ago) tucked back in all the closets and unpack them and get rid of them once and for all.
Oh it is hard to pick one! I have so many! My kitchen cupboards need gone through and cleaned out of the things I don’t use and then reorganized!
My teenager had been doing a massive cleanout of her room. It has been painted and now things need to get put away and a few more things tossed out! She took a yr to do this. I wouldn’t paint until she cleaned out.
This weekend was to be spent in my basement getting things packed up for Good Will, but now with the beautiful sun, it’s out to the garage I will head to clean things out there…plus detail my van! Enjoy!
my kids baby books
I believe I have the tools to be organized, but I just haven’t gotten everything to running smoothly so I can stay organized. Does that make sense? The book may be just what I need! I am visiting from She Cooks. Love your blog and will look forward to your next posts!
The yard could certanily use some sprucing up.
I need to stop procrastinating and finish up on lessons plans for our homeschool, A’Mayes’ing Grace Academy. Once I get started I’m good to go but it’s the getting started I struggle with. I think to get started I need to be organized but the biggest job is the organizing so it’s just an endless cycle for me. Maybe some cool tools would help me. I enjoy your blog. Thank you very much for sharing yourself with me.
I need to finish unpacking all the boxes from moving 3 months ago that are still upstairs in the attic.
The third bedroom AKA storage room! I have this great idea for the room i want to do, but have not taken on the project yet.
Re-do the kitchen cabinets.
I need to stuff bags and backpacks with the 10 assorted pages of school supplies, for 4 children. I have been buying “STUFF” for over a month now, and no one can explain why my son in 3rd grade needs six dozen pencils, he doesn’t eat them so why 6 dozen?!!! My non-bedroom in the basemnt looks like a bomb went off and because i really think our school is a bit demanding and over the top with what they require us to buy going in there just sends me into a bit of a “tude time” Oh, i just need to do it and i am running out of excuses!!!!!
Blessings, full speed ahead
So happy to find your blog ( I came over from She Cooks!
)! And I have so many pictures and scrap-booking things that I would love to get organized and put into books. I promised myself I would have this done before I had my son and he’s now 14 months old and life is busier than ever
So my new goal is to have it finished before we have another little one running around. Thanks again for sharing and blessings to you!
Organize my closet and my sewing room and my kitchen cabinets and . . . the list goes on. Thanks for the chance to win!
Organize my office…..along with my file cabinets. This is something I DREAD, yet it’s something that must get done! I seem to get side-tracked so easily…..like going on the computer to try to win a contest!
I have a spare bedroom that I have been trying to declutter for a while. I am trying to take it “one bite at a time.”
I need to organize the mess that is our basement…
cleaning my oven has been on the back burner for way to long.
I need to clean out a closet that still has boxes in it from my move three years ago! Ugh!
Just found your blog from Encouragement For Today, and love it!! As far as pending projects, the one that I keep putting off is condensing/organizing my older childrens’ outgrown clothing in preparation for the younger ones. I have random bins of clothing in various parts of the house, and no system… I dread the task, but it must be done!
I just moved, and your organizing tools would be such a blessing!
Get rid of the “hot spots” in my house and at work….you know, the piles of stuff that seem to grow.
