Family Giveaway (and grand prize details)

Oh, this is so much fun!

The first giveaway post on Faith, to celebrate the redesign of my website, is up and running. Wasn’t Holly Furtick great? You can still enter to win the Faith giveaway.

As I said last time, there are a total of four giveaways this week and you can leave a comment on any of the posts until next Monday, the 18th, when all the winners will be announced.

Now, today I’m announcing the second giveaway on Family. But before I do, let me also tell you about the “Grand Prize” of the week.

I will randomly pick one winner from all the comments left this week to win this fun fall giveaway. It includes:

~A spiced pumpkin scented soy jar candle

~Some sweet cinnamon pumpkin body wash from Bath & Body Works

~Matching sweet cinnamon pumpkin body lotion

~ And (not pictured) a $5 Starbucks gift card so you can purchase a pumpkin spice latte! (or drink of your choice)

Remember, the more times you comment on the posts this week, the more times your name will be entered in the giveaway!

To continue the ‘blogwarming’ celebration, today we feature a giveaway based on the second priority: Family.

One lucky commenter will win the following:

~This whimsical metal frame that says “family” to place a snapshot of your loved ones in and keep on your desk, mantle or shelf.

~A $15 Subway gift card for your family to enjoy. Three $5 foot-long subs can stretch a long way!

~A copy of my book Homespun Memories for the Heart, personalized to your family.

To be entered in the family giveaway, simply leave a comment answering this: If you could spend a weekend with your immediate family members, and only spend $100, what would you do? Where would you go? (Of course as in all giveaways, if time is tight, just say “I’m in!”)

Okay…..give us your best family weekend idea!

Blessings,

Share and Enjoy!

Favorite family weekends are usually spent at home with games and movies – and plenty of snacks, of course! Favorite things to do at home include: Big Game Hunter for the Wii and Sing It, karoake for the Wii. We have a blast beating daddy at karoake:)

    • Leigh says:

Since this is my favorite time of year, I would love to go to the North Georgia mountains or maybe even North Carolina and spend a weekend at a beautiful cabin. I would love to take hikes with my family, visit a fall festival, sit by the fire place at night roast marshmallows and sipping some hot apple cider. I just want to soak up God’s goodness and blessings!

    • Diana says:

Food, fun and conversation. We’re lucky if we are all together even once a year. So we stay home, eat, play and talk. Not necessarily in that order!

    • Shannon says:

I would invite my family to my house, buy lots of food and have an all night game night! We do these less and less and it’s quality-quantity time that makes the my heart happy! :) Man… now I want to plan something like that. It’s been too long! Thanks!!!

    • Sarah says:

I would like to just spend some time with my family doing some simple things. Game night, order some pizza, hang out and talk. Something that no one would have to spend a lot of time preparing for. It’s all about the fellowship and slowing down and enjoying God’s greatest blessings(my family).

    • Donna says:

Being single, I don’t have immediate family. But I have pictures of my extended family. And we’ve made lot’s of wonderful memories together. When we have a lunch together of all 25 of us there’s laughter and deep discussions. The one little child is watched over by everyone and the love between all of us is precious.

    • Caroline says:

Ooh… a dream weekend with my sweet family…
We would go to the mountains, camp together, hike together, enjoy God’s beautiful creation together. Laugh, talk, take lots of pictures, and all snuggle in together in the tent at night. We’d bring some games to play and make up some games of our own. And some great books to read together and enjoy. Sounds great!

    • Jane says:

I would go to a small town in the North Carolina mountains and enjoy the quite and beautiful scenery. A quite time beside one of the streams with my daughter.

    • Andie says:

Lots of food, games and usually a season-themed jigsaw puzzle that we work on for days!! Bonfires out back with s’mores and remembering the past…great times!

    • Chris A. says:

A weekend of pizza, movies, and games.
Or maybe the weekend of camping.
Or maybe a weekend of mini-golf, ice cream and bike rides.

WOuld LOVE the book! Been wanting for awhile, but no longer being sold :(

    • Karen Ehman says:

Chris A. Homespun Memories is still being sold. You can find it at Proverbs31.org or on Amazon.com as well local bookstores. If it is not in stock, they can order it for you. If you still can’t find it, give me a shout. I can sell you one. Or….maybe you’ll win the giveaway!

    • Dorothy says:

I would gather them all at home, make monkey bread use the money to buy delicious coffee beans and spend the time talking. No TV, video games, no phones.

    • Wendy says:

Travel the two hours to my grandmother’s camp on the lake. Fishing off the end of the dock, biking with the kids, walking on the dead end road. $100 for gas to get there, food and a special trip to the creemee stand. (creemees are what non Vermonters know as soft serve ice cream, but better :) )

    • Susan says:

Cooking a great meal together, having a family game of wiffle (or is it whiffle?)ball, telling stories, laughing and being silly. A family game of ping pong or playing the wii are also great times.

    • Tammy says:

I love this time of year so much. The chill in the air, the wonderful smells of fall and of course the food. Most important the get togethers with friends and family and activities of the season. God has made such a beautiful world and this season shows that off with all the changing leaves. Thanks so much for the chance. Happy Fall!!

    • Tara H. says:

We’d go 4-wheeling in the timber, ride bikes, cook out on the grill and read books out loud at bedtime. Sounds like a great weekend to me!

    • Ruth says:

I would get a state park pass and have some fun visiting the state parks in our area.

    • lisasmith says:

We eat $5 footlongs all the time and 3 feeds my family of six!!!

I would spend time on our lake, riding our bikes through the wooded neighborhoods and just sitting in the sun enjoying each other. My husband would find something totally amazing to do with that money, I promise. He’s great at that!!

    • Jolene says:

Two ideas for how we’d spend the weekend as a family:

      1) Stay a night at a hotel with an indoor water park – although I’m not sure we could do that for $100. But it is something my kids love to do.

      2) We might also just stay home and relax together playing games. I’d use the money for eating out so I wouldn’t have to spend time in the kitchen away from them. We also love to see great family movies together in the theater – that alone costs a big chunk of change with treats!

Love the idea of a family weekend together – Might have to try this!

    • Danette says:

I love it when both kids are home and the four of us are just together. Watching movies, having dinner – just hanging out. Having everyone under one roof brings me joy!

    • I would go camping with my family in Pigeon Forge. That would take up around $65. With the leftover $$ we’d go to the Apple Barn and have lunch (and pack up the leftover fritters). We’d buy some apple butter, of course. And then we’d get in a round of minature golf….FUN!

    • carolyn says:

      the beach!!!!!!!!!!

    • Shauna A says:

it would have to be some sporting event!!

    • Charlotte says:

I would have a big ol slumber party with the 5 grandkids. Movies, pizza, popcorn and sleeping on bunkbeds.

    • Sherri says:

      I’m In

    • Kristine A says:

      Fondue night and then games.

    • Melissa says:

My fav weekend activity with my family is just spending time together and going to church. Boring, maybe, but my husband is only off every other weekend so we treasure our time together!!

    • Faith says:

Shreveport, LA is an hour and a half away. We would book a room on priceline, around $50,then go spend the night. My kids LOVE a hotel. We would walk around the boardwalk, and spend some time in BassPro, eating $1 menu items all the way, lol! Then we would head home to enjoy our own beds and Church the next day… of course, if the hotel has an indoor pool.. that is even more fun:)

    • Debbie S says:

    • Our favorite family getaway is to just get away from the phone and the chores of life. We are leaving Friday and driving a whole 10 minutes to a friend’s property. We are fishing, cooking them fresh on an open fire, roasting marshmellows and sleeping in a tent just for the night. I can’t wait to hang out with my 5 favorite guys.

    • psnichols01 says:

we have an outdoors hot tub. i would buy bubbles and scented oils everyone would like. wait til dark then take eveyone out to watch the stars. we would come back in and have hot chocolate(w/marshmallows of course), some fancy dessert(purchased)! a good time to relax and be together.

    • Melissa says:

Watching a movie together is one our favorite family nights. I have a 20 year old who’s off to college and one that will graduate high school this year. When we are all home together we try to make sure we all sit down to dinner together and watch a movie together. For dinner we usually use the nice dishes, glassea and cloth napkins, just to make it seem more special.

    • Crystal says:

I feel so overwhelmed at the moment that I can’t even think what I would do. Camping would be affordable, but I can’t say I really enjoy the camping part all that much – just the family part! LOL OK I think I have it now. But to do it, would need to order up some sunny summer day with temps at least 80 degrees. We would rent a raft or canoes and do a river day – take a picnic lunch and eat out for dinner. When I think back on some of my favorite family times, many of them involved floating down the river. There is something very special about the quiet, being together and WORKING together (which is required in a canoe) that just bonds us as a family. I’d like to add that when my oldest daughter was 18 and straying from God, she went on a day long canoe trip with college friends, fell into a cold, swift river without a life jacket and nearly drowned. BUT by the grace of GOD (thank you Jesus!) it was this that helped to bring her soul to repentance, and she rededicated her life to Him and has been stronger spiritually ever since. She said that there was something about doing something so wonderful, that turned into something so frightening, and she clearly heard from God on that day. So YES, a trip down the river it is! WITH lifejackets. :)

    • Kara S. says:

The essentials of the weekend would include a trip to a park with a picnic, Starbucks for my husband and I, Dairy Queen treats for the kids and at some point…s’mores. :) We’d would, of course, have to include some hiking to burn off the extra calories!

    • Tera says:

We love to camp especially in the fall and we could do it for under $100 for a weekend!

    • Emily B says:

Right now, my immediate family is my husband and me. We love to watch tv/movies together (right now, it’s all about Alabama football!) But we also like to cook, so a cooking some gameday food together and watching games all day (without laundry, cleaning and dishes in between) would be great!

    • Olivia says:

probably just going to a park with the kids (we have two kids under age 3), having a picnic, getting ice cream, doing the paddleboats with our 2 1/2 year old, maybe taking the ferry in our area- so much fun!

    • I would have the family over for Family Fun Night and make ice cream sundaes!

    • Brenda Ferguson says:

Just hanging out at home with pizza and movies!

    • Amy says:

For a weekend, if we could do anything, we’d probably go camping. We love to do that this time of year. Our kids are still little and fascinated with everything, and it’s so fun to go hiking and cook with them over the fire. There’s a big park on a lake near here that’s fun to visit and go hiking, too, and Duke Gardens in Durham is fun to explore. That has my vote!

    • Carol says:

Take out wings, pizza, etc…a movie and board games!

    • nannygraham says:

A weekend with family would be camping up in the woods. We usually always have a big family camp out on Memorial Day weekend with all the kids and their spouses, the grandkids and the dogs. We hang out, eat, play games, target practice and have a big horse shoe tournament. We even have a trophy for the team that wins, they get to take it home and display it until the next year. It is always so much fun.

    • Joanna says:

Of course, we’d order pizza! The boys’ favorite. Since they’re only 1 &3, a trip to the zoo, complete with a souvenir of their choice would be in order. Anything that was left would go into the special offering at church on Sunday. Or, the money might simply need to go straight to the bank account so my hard-working hubby could take off work, and we could simply take a picnic to the park and lake.

    • Sue says:

I would take my dad and go to the beach…and just breathe…he is turning 84 in a month.

    • Darla says:

My husband I were just saying we needed a game time with the kids. It would involve treats at starbucks and playing Phase 10 and Monopoly (the card game) we are hooked on this one. Faster than the board game.
We go there and leave all the distractions at home. They don’t mind us staying awhile.
My kids are 15 and 12 and their schedules are busy. The slowing down and sitting across from each other gets them talking.

    • Jamie says:

Family is definitely the cornerstone of my life. My husband and I live a few hours away from the rest of our families, but we ejoy just getting together with them and spending time together. Of course, there’s always time for good food and good company! I miss my family so much right now!

    • ElaineDavis says:

On a beautiful fall weekend like we’ve been having lately, I’d like for us to go on a bike ride on one of the rails to trails routes nearby. We would stay well within the $100 budget by buying gas to haul the bikes there and ingredients for a picnic lunch!

    • Kim Thompson says:

We would probably go camping near a beach so we can spend the day at the beach. Then we would have a nice campfire in the evening with S’mores.

    • Erica says:

Homemade pizzas, playing at the park, sleeping in, pj’s for half the day, brunch, campfire with s’mores, etc. :)

    • DeniseLynn says:

Oh such a fabulous give-a-way and a great question too. This time of year is our favorite. I’d love to spend the day with my hubby and 2 little ones going on a hay ride, picking out our pumpkins, sipping cider, and then sitting down to a nice meal. We’d finish the night with baths and cozy jammies and time around the fireplace for sure. Ahhh … doesn’t that sound nice! LOL

    • Aimee Walthaw says:

I would love to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway and enjoy the beauty!

    • Ann says:

My favorite family weekend would be to go into the mountains and plunge our feet into a creek and catch crawdads!

    • angie says:

Spend the day on Herm Island, a 20 minute boat trip from our home. Clear skies, beautiful beaches…a fresh seafood meal – and then home together.

    • Stephenie says:

I would have a dinner (pizza or Subway), a movie and game night. Sounds wonderful just thinking about it.

    • Shelia Baker says:

Go to Morrow Mountain – it’s a small place here in North Carolina and it’s so quiet and peaceful. To camp out and hike in the wilderness with my children has been something I’ve been desiring to do with them for quite a while. Been trying to plan it but it just hasn’t worked out yet.

    • heather c says:

I’m IN! And I’m TOTALLY excited! Thanks!

    • Deb V says:

I would go camping with my family. We always have fun in the great outdoors.

    • Judy says:

I think we would just go to a park to play, order pizza and enjoy each other.

    • Karen says:

I would love to go to the Black River in MO where we camped when we were children. We always had such a good time there camping and just spending time together.

    • Karen H L says:

I’m in. Thanks and many Blessings

    • Regina says:

I would love for my family to go back to the Carolina Tiger Rescue outside of Pittsboro, NC, again. My kids loved it this past summer and fall weather would be a perfect time to go back.

    • Teresa C. says:

I think we would enjoy going about an hour away, get a hotel room, and swim in the pool. We could order pizza or go out to eat at a favorite restaurant. Of course, we’d need to pick up snacks for the evening after swimming and watch tv late until we fell asleep. Another swim in the morning and then maybe some window shopping before heading home.

    • Our family loves supporting our favorite college team. We have football season tickets and occasionally make it for baseball games. We would drive south two hours to Hattiesburg, MS to watch the USM Golden Eagles pay ball, any ball: football, basketball, or baseball.

    • MaryBeth I says:

Dinner and a movie – Going to the movies is a special treat for us :)

    • Monica says:

Dinner out and a movie would be a wonderful treat!

    • Rebecca says:

This winter I’m hoping to try snowshoeing at a state park near our home. I think it would be really fun to pack hot chocolate and snacks and enjoy a snowy day together. I think we could rent snowshoes so it shouldn’t be too pricy!

      Rebecca Ann

    • wanda says:

We would go to a small town near where we live called Little Nashville. It’s a fun little place with lots of eclectic shops and beautiful scenery.
Many visit there every weekend (especially in the fall).
Then we’d eat at one of the yummy hot spots there in town.
We could walk, window shop and people watch! TOGETHER!

    • jerikay says:

definitely to the mountains to camp! time away from the noise & craziness of life. time to be still & enjoy the beauty of the outdoors in the company of those we love.

    • Renee Thomsen says:

I vote for going to any beach, anywhere in the world. I live about 15 mins from the beach but never go. Crazy isn’t it that I live so close and never go and I really love the beach. There never seems to be enough time. To lay on the beach with a good book is about the most relaxing thing I can think of to do. And if my husband was laying next to me – it doesn’t get any better than that!

    • Heather says:

Hmmm…what would we do? I knew immediately but then read the $100 parameter and realized that would change things. If it was warm enough I would want to go camping. We never thought we were campers until we have gone two summers in a row with our friends from church and everyone (especially the kids) have loved it. So think under these parameters I would take them camping and eat all their favorite junk food, make s’mores, stay up late, take long walks, bike rides and swims. And just enjoy being together.

    • Marianne S says:

I would love to walk around the historic district of Philly and enjoy the fall leaves and beautiful sunny weather :-)

    • Julie says:

      I’m in!!

    • Amy V. says:

We would go up north because the Autumn colors are absolutely beautiful…..we would camp for a couple of days and bring a lot of great camping food and warm sleeping bags….the nights in WI are getting cooler. :)

    • Mary says:

We would go to the mountains. Play outside in the leaves & enjoy God’s amazing creation!

    • Jennifer says:

If I could spend the weekend with my immediate family, we would go camping. Every year since I can remember my dad, mom, two sisters and me all went camping at Prince Gallitzin State Park. When I was younger, my grandmother (who has now gone on to be with God) had a camper permanently parked up there and I would spend as much of the summer as I could camping with her. Wonderful memories. This year, my family had planned to make the annual trip and the day my husband, daughter (15 months at the time) and I were to head up, we found a lump on my daughter’s little bottom. After taking her to the doctor, she was rushed in for emergency surgery so the rest of my family was able to go camping minus the three of us. It was rough having to miss the family trip and having my daughter to worry about. Thankfully, God didn’t go on vacation leaving us behind to deal with everything ourselves :) and it was through Him that my daughter’s surgery went fine and she is now okay. So, if I could take my family away for the weekend, I’d try to get back that camping trip :)

    • Sherri says:

I’m in….thanks for all you do!

    • Phyllis says:

      I’m in.

    • Donna says:

I would go to Florida and surprise my mother for her 84th birthday where three of my other four sisters will be. I would give her the gifts (frame with pictures) and have a wonderful time just being together.

    • Rebecca says:

I’d go get family photos done!

    • I would find a state park or pretty park that has nice cabins with a little kitchenette…we would spend the whole weekend at the cabin…playing, hiking, cooking homemade biscuits for breakfast and grilling hamburgers for supper. We would play games and tell stories and just enjoy the uninterrupted family time that seems so few and far between now days!!

    • Linda Ann says:

I would plan a day outdoors to observe God’s beautiful world this time of year. Order a big picnic basket full of goodies, find a park with good walking trails and enjoy the day with family.

    • Connie Boyd says:

I would love to ride horses all weekend.. with my kiddos and my sweet hubby!

    • Jill says:

Well, there’s 6 of us, so I would say picnic food, a day at the pumpkin patch, a pumpkin for each kid, and then movies and popcorn and hot cocoa after a long day outside!

    • Jessica says:

I think we’d head out for a long bike ride, then have a pizza and game night at home!

    • Lynn says:

Go to the park, or Dwaynes “free” campsite, to putt-putt golfing, out for dinner, play games. Gas for going up to my sister-in-law’s place in Lake City. All go to a local music festival up there.
Or go down to Jellico, TN to a campsite and touring the area of Stinking Creek and tracing Cupp family heritage.

    • Danette says:

      I’m in!!

    • Caroline says:

I would be happy to be anywhere with them and with $100 in hand I think we would go out for a special meal together and take the little ones to a museum.

    • Tania S. says:

My kids love to go bike riding, then maybe grill out and have a game night.

    • Marla Y says:

I would be happy to just stay home, order pizza, play games, watch an inspirational movie, and eat popcorn. This is the favorite kind weekend for my family. Thank you for the chance to win your giveaway. God bless.
