Have you heard of Encouragement Cafe’– a fabulous group of gals who love Jesus and love connecting women’s hearts with His?

With a coffee club, daily devotions, radio programs and Extreme Events, well you have much to choose from that will help you grow your relationship with Christ.

Meet this fab ministry now!

My sweet friend, prayer warrior and fellow Proverbs 31 speaking sister Luann Prater is a bundle of Jesus, she is!

I love to glean wisdom from her and more than anything, I love to hear Luann pray. Her deep connection to our Lord just spills over in every aspect of her life.

Here her heart on Encouragement Cafe’.

Luann, tell us,in a nutshell, how Encouragement Cafe was birthed.

Doing an interview one Saturday at a local Christian radio station for Proverbs 31.

The station manager and producer asked me to prayerfully consider doing a talk show for women because every time I was on, they had a surge in call-ins and comments.

I said I would pray about it.  I went home and asked my husband.

He said, “You didn’t open this door, God did. You need to walk through it.”

I asked my pastor the next day to pray with me about it.  He said, “You said YES didn’t you Prater? You didn’t open this door, God did.  You need to walk through it!”

Monday I called Lysa TerKeurst.  I said, “I want to make sure I’m in step with whatever the ministry is doing.”

She said, “Oh my sweet Luann, this is an answer to prayer! We have been asking God to open new doors for our speakers and writers that only He could open.  Walk through it my friend.”

So on Tuesday I called the station and said yes, without really knowing what I was signing up for yet understanding that God had a plan.

You gals sure seem like you have a blast serving Jesus. Tell me one thing you love about each of the women you lead with at EC.

Only one?? I love that I serve with women who understand the power of prayer in our every day lives.  We begin each day with prayer individually and corporately.

What opportunities and resources do you provide for women who connect with the cafe’?
Oh man, that is growing everyday too!  We offer Daily Specials that are short menu items that can nourish their walk.
We offer opportunities for the EXTREME event to come to their area, where we bring the cafe experience to their city.
We offer downloadable podcasts of past shows, a daily Cafe Minute video where they can learn to study their Bible in bite-sized pieces, a club they can join for discounts and fun, a She Reads book of the month interview with an author in the Cozy Corner (featuring Jim Rubart with Book of Days in March), shopping fun, links to P31 and others, and a sister to walk you through the plan of salvation.

What is your greatest desire for the women you meet through this ministry?

To know they can sit around the table with us any time and find a listening ear, loving arms and praying hearts who not only share life, but direct them to the giver of life, Jesus Christ.

Wow, I need to check this out…all of us women need this kind of encouragement at times! I normally read my Bible at the computer where all my “stuff” is and where I can look up my reading plan, etc. However, my favorite place to read it is curled up in the chair in our library/music room with a blanket all wrapped around me! Ahhhh!

Snuggled up in an old lazy-boy chair in my prayer corner – which is actually a corner in my closet created just for me and Jesus to hang out. I love it! My days always go better when I start my days this way.

    • LindaAnn says:

      Depends on the season –
Spring and Fall, I love to sit outside and soak up God’s Word while enjoying his creation. In summer, I like relaxing by the pool and in Winter in my favorite chair by the window.

    • Anywhere I can find a quiet place to read! Usually in the office where I can shut the door.

    • Beth A says:

I read my Bible either at my pretty desk in the living room or in a comfy den chair that looks out into the trees in my back yard.

    • In my recliner, when it’s really, really early and quiet, with my pups at my feet and my coffee on the table next to me, that’s when I can delve into the magnificent Word that God speaks and works with to touch my heart and life. A never-ending supply of wisdom, love, grace, and hope!
Second place…on the beach, again very early in the morning, before everyone else is out and about, when it is quiet, and I can see and hear the wonderful ocean and see the sunrise…things God created for my enjoyment, and awe!
Sorry this is so long and involved…but that’s the writer/speaker person coming out!

Early morning, like most, snuggled under fleece in a recliner always with coffee or tea. Soon I will be moving to the sun room on my wicker sofa. I would like to read on the deck, but with so many active critters in our yard, I am so easily distracted and I don’t really want any flybys falling on my Bible.

In the summer when it’s too hot and humid….in my chair with a cup of coffee……yes, even when it’s hot out. In the winter, in the same chair but my dream is that we get the gas fireplace in the basement connected and that is where you’ll find me on cold days…….snuggled in the corner of my favorite old sofa with my well used study Bible, pen, pad and again, something warm to drink. Blessings,

    • Amanda says:

I like to get up and read/study at the kitchen table looking out our patio doors before the rest of the family is up. Unfortunately, my daughter has become an early bird and it is difficult to make this work. So many days, I go to our large master bath to have my quiet time. Not ideal, but it is private, quiet and I won’t wake anyone up by creeping down the stairs.

      Hi Karen
What an amazing giveaway and post….

God is always showing me that I need to do my devotions in a different way.. at lot of times its in the margin of my bible that I write thoughts in.
I have often thought a journal would be good to write things in that God shows me while I read.. but have yet to do it.
This would be a great beginning in doing that….

      Chrissy
