Fashioned by Faith Giveaway with Rachel Lee Carter

I wanted to let you know about a fantastic new release by a wonderful women I met through our Proverbs 31 She Speaks conference. And one of you will win an autographed copy of it!!

The short informal bio on her is that she is a sweet mom who loves Jesus, has a passion for teens and who was kind to my teenage daughter.

Now, here is her professional bio:

Rachel Lee Carter is an alumnus of Word of Life Bible Institute in Schroon Lake, NY.  There, she studied Bible Survey and Systematic Theology with an emphasis on missions and youth ministry.

After hearing God’s call on her life as an international Christian model, she now uses this platform to share the love of Jesus Christ within the fashion industry as a professional conference speaker to mothers, daughters, tween, youth and teen groups throughout the country.

As a professional model of 20 years, and modesty advocate, Rachel has traveled to over 30 countries.

Clientèle includes Cover Girl, Tommy Hilfiger, Perry Ellis, Wrangler, Arrow, Chico’s, Elle, Nicole  Miller, Motorola,  DKNY,  Reebok, Microsoft, SAKS Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Bloomingdales and many others.

Rachel was also crowned Mrs. North Carolina United States in 2009. She resides in Conover, NC with her husband Daryl, and their sons, Jack and Jude. You can learn more about her at modelingchrist.com.

Rachel has just released a book with Thomas Neslon called Fashioned by Faith. It offers a cutting-edge approach to the concept of beauty with a Biblical foundation that will attract moms and daughters alike.

Everyone knows that we live in a “skin-is-in” society, heavily driven by media and immodesty. So how does a young Christian woman reconcile a fashionable wardrobe with maintaining her integrity?

Readers will love hearing about Carter’s exciting story as she leads them on an engaging study that touches on a huge felt need for young women: real beauty has nothing to do with looks.

Offering three valuable perspectives—teen boys, a professional model, and God’s Word—Carter explains her standards of modesty in a way that will make readers acquire a specific understanding of the author’s wardrobe choices and the impact those choices can make on others.

Readers will also learn to season their self-image with daily quiet time with God. A tour of Scripture will reveal the value of heart issues like modesty and why they’re important to God.

Never compromising her sense of style or her faith, every young lady can discover what it means to be Fashioned by Faith.  Moms and girls will love this book!

Check it out! And if you want to catch a glimpse of her interview on the 700 Club, click here.

And be sure to leave a comment on this post to be entered to win a signed copy of Rachel’s book ! If time is tight, simply say, “I’m in!” Winner will be announced Monday. :-)

Blessings,

Share and Enjoy!

I was just looking to see if I could get his book through our library system and was so disappointed that I couldn’t!!!! I am definitely going to have to read it! I am currently facilitating a JR. High Girls Bible Study and we just approached the subject of purity and we were talking quite a bit about modesty. This book would be great for some insight! Thanks for posting!

      • Hi Deb!
This would be a great study to do with your Jr. High girls! I works like a Bible study as well with the quiet time in the back along with study questions for groups at the end of every chapter. I hope this will open their eyes to the truth about modesty without making them feel it’s archaic. Best wishes!

    • sushi_noem says:

This is so timely! I’ve been discussing this very issue with a former student (youth group), who has taken the stance that being taught to dress modestly in youth group has led to her poor self esteem and body image today. She has somehow taken modesty to mean being ashamed of our bodies and that a woman’s body is “bad”. Would love to have some new insights to share with her.

      • Hi! I think this girl is just trying to “get out of” the responsibility to dress modestly. The truth is, girls who flaunt their bodies have a lower self-image than girls who don’t. I would definitely recommend her reading this. If she doesn’t budge, it’s a heart issue. But she will still be held accountable. Love her through this-their are some underlying issues here.

    • Rachel says:

I’m in… I posted the interview on my Facebook to get the word out! It was very moving and awesome!

    • April says:

Would love to have this book for my teen daughter and her friends!

    • I saw Rachel on the 700 Club and got so excited! I am going to school for fashion merchandising and design and plan to open a store in SE PA that carries modest, chic clothing for women and teens. As a Christian woman, age 39, with 2 young daughters, I have been trying to instill the things that Rachel is promoting to them, and it is just really empowering to know I am not the only Christian that wants to be a part of the fashion community.

    • Kim McVay says:

I’m in!! I’m a volunteer in our youth department and one of the subjects we will be looking at with the girls is modesty! I saw your interview on the 700 club and went out today and bought the book to give to our youth pastor and his wife so I would love to win a copy of the book for myself!

    • Lisa says:

So timely!! As the mother of a 10-yr old girl and early teen boys, modesty is big on my radar. Even among Jesus girls this seems like such a big – yet undiscussed issue.

      • Thank you! I’m a mom of boys too-so we have a whole different approach to handling modesty. I think this will be a resource that you can use not only for your girl, but also to steer your boys from girls who dress immodestly and to learn the reasons behind why girls do. :) blessings!

    • Sally Marten says:

I have two teenage daughters and could use some help. I haven’t always been a Christian and made many mistakes as a teenager and young adult. I don’t want my daughters to make those same mistakes.

      • My heart is with you. I was that same teen that made those mistakes. I share them in the book so you don’t have to. Hopefully, they can learn from my mistakes. Blessings to you. Rachel

    • KC says:

This sounds like a wonderful book that I would like to share with some teen girls in my life. I’m going to go to the website

    • Tania S. says:

This would be a great book to have for my daughter (she is 11) and I to read together. I think it is so important to teach our daughters about modesty and why they’re important to God. Thanks for this fabulous giveaway!!

    • Cheryl says:

With 2 tween girls and a 3rd coming up this book would be a great thing to read together with them. I’m in!!

    • Elizabeth Cox says:

As a mom of two girls ages 14 and 9, and two boys ages 13 and 11, teaching them about God’s version of modesty is a building block that impacts many decisions for their lives. The boys cringe when I talk about it, but later on they will understand and also look for a woman who follows after God.

    • AlisonC says:

I need this book. Life is beyond busy and every helping hand/suggestion is deeply valued.
      Thank you.

    • Brenda says:

      I’m in! Thanks.

    • Lucy Sanguinetti says:

a mother of three, ages 20, 18 and 16…..I long ago gave up trying to be “super mom”. I just wanted to be the “right” mom for each individual child. When God finally got through my thick skull that I could not be the same mom to all three, I began to accept that they truly were 3 very different, very individual children. They have different needs and different love languages. One required short spurts of time, one required long periods of one-on-one time together, and the last required lots of hugs and kisses all throughout the day. I learned to pick my battles, like letting my daughter wear white glitter converse tennis shoes to the prom with her evening gown! God’s little “love” lessons helped make peace in my home!

      • Shandy says:

Thanks for the comment about picking battles and being the best mom for each child! I will remember this each day as my boys grow.

    • Lisa Buchanan says:

My daughter is only 4 right now, but I am sure that this book will be just what we need one day. :) Thanks for the oppurtunity!

Our hats are many as women. I am blessed to be surrounded by wonderful women in my life. With my husband unemployed for three years now and three teenage sons, I am living the what will we drink, what will we wear time, and God shows up. I am very thankful for Proverbs 31 Ministry. Thank you

    • Shandy says:

How fitting this is for me this week with sooo mnay things on the calendar!!! With preschool graduation pics, Teacher Appreciation day at 2 schools, room mom for the preschool class, Mother’s Day Tea, Field Day, 2 Bible study groups, soccer, KY Derby party, visiting with friends this evening (fun!), oil change & transmission service, unplanned visit to the vet for our dog, moving and reconstructing a gigantic wooden playset for our boys…and did I mention homework every night, karate class for child #1 twice this week, and they still want food several times a day, clothes washed, grocery shopping, playing with kids, baths, reading at bedtime…and then there’s the husband who needs some quality time. Thank you so much for the reminder that I have to be God’s daughter FIRST!! All the other stuff will work itself out once I focus my life and daily heart on HIM! Those other things lose my utmost attention when I remember to put my Savior first.

However, in our church right now is a young lady that needs this book. I am very excited about reading it myself as well. Thank you for sharing your story with us. I was also excited to hear you are in Conover because I was raised in Newton. Thanks again.
