Write it Down Weekend Giveaway

Have you ever had so much to do that you put off even making a to do list? In fact, you were afraid that if you actually wrote down all that you had to do, you’d be too scared to look at it!

Be brave, sisters. I have been there. (In fact, I’m there as we speak!)

I find that the days I spin my wheels are the days that I don’t have a written plan of attack.

Or at least a short list.

Okay….or even a single sticky note!

I am headed off to make my list; my plan off attack for the weekend and its many projects. Some are physical (painting a dresser). Some are mental (writing—lots and lots of writing).

Before I go, here is a giveaway designed to help you ‘write it down’.

It includes:
~ A whimsical kitchen menu planner
~ A week-at-a-glance pad for your desk
~ Some cute blue sticky notes with a little bird on them
~ A pack of my favorite pencils–Ticonderoga # 2′s
~ A package of cinnamon hot cocoa
~ A signed copy of my book The Complete Guide to Getting & Staying Organized

To be entered, leave a comment telling us this: what are you doing this weekend?

Oh yeah, and if it involves a task, better write it down!!! ;-)

Blessings,

Share and Enjoy!

I am going to go through my closet on Saturday and have a birthday dinner with my brother Saturday night. On Sunday, I am going to church and then serving dinner at the Rescue Mission. Sometime in there I am going to help my son finish a project that is due Monday.

    • Lisa DeCourcey says:

I’ll be helping to lead a grief seminar for women in our community on Saturday, then church on Sunday. But, my favorite part of the weekend will be tonight when my whole family will spend the evening on Skyline Drive watching the sunset and sipping hot cocoa or coffee. I love those quiet, slow evenings together.

    • Faith says:

Working, flag football, and working more while son and husband are camping with the Cubscouts:)

    • Phyllis says:

This weekend, the whole family will be involved in trying to “make room for baby.” Our second child is due to arrive in less than 12 weeks and we will start getting our house in order.

    • Christene says:

I am going to do laundry today and try to find my kitchen table that has become a dumping ground. Saturday it is a soccer game and start the process of closing up the pool. On Sunday, it will be church and then probably finish the pool. I also want to find fall clothes and get them washed up and put summer clothes up.. UGH – I don’t like that job but my oldest is cold.

    • Amy says:

I’m spending Saturday with my family running errands in a nearby town – hitting up Costco, HT for triples, and a consignment sale – before going out to eat with a gift card and to a family fun center for play time with free passes we were sent in the mail. Sunday will be an at-home day after church to rest before we begin a busy week – heading to Disney soon and there’s much to do before we leave!

    • Janice S says:

Garage clean-out, Culinary Bash (fundraiser dinner), worship and relaxation!

    • Ericka says:

I am going to hopefully overhaul my house and get rid of as much as possible of things we really don’t need anymore. I feel that I need to make room any that my closets are closing in on us. On Sat I am having a big birthday bash for my oldest I can’t believe she is already 14. I hope that goes good. Sun I will be in church and then put put golf church function then youth group at 4:45 until 6 then hopefully dinner at my house. Busy but fun filled weekend. God bless!!!

    • BethA says:

Earlier this week, I started cleaning my fridge. Sick kid at home has put that on hold til this weekend. I’m going to finish that task, then finish the laundry. A Costco run is always in order. And church Sunday morning followed by an afternoon of family time relaxing! Aaahhhhh.

    • Linda Hoffman says:

This weekend I am going to my Titus 2 Bible Study, taking 2 of our girls to see the Winnie the Pooh movie, take my youngest daughter shopping for a birthday present for her friend, do laundry for my 6 kids and hubby (mine will wait until Monday), reorganize kids dressers with fall attire, sort through summer clothes to decide what will fit next summer and put away til then and what won’t and put in a bag for donation or to give to a younger friend for next year, and generally get the house in order and ready to begin babysitting my great nephews on Monday morning and begin guitar lessons Monday afternoon. Not to mention Sunday activities…Sunday School and church followed by my daughter’s friends birthday party and then taking my mother up to Bible Camp for “Colorama” (a week getaway for empty nesters). I’m tired already just thinking about it! :)

    • Emily B says:

I have a constant to-do list running in my head, and usually have a list written down as well. sometimes it involves specific events, sometimes just household stuff, sometimes both! It’s frustrating and overwhelming when things don’t get marked off, but you have to continue forward. This weekend I have a Thirty-One Gifts training meeting (YAY!) and going to watch the Crimson Tide play football!!!! RTR! Then Sunday School and church on Sunday with my hubby (and my Mom is joining us, YAY again!) then lunch. Whew! Also have need to do several loads of laundry, etc. at the same time.

    • Julie says:

Today lots of “to dos” with taking my little guy to library inbetween for some fun. THEN I get to get on airplane by myself, For my cousins wedding! Taking renee’s book a confident heart with me.

    • Kathleen says:

We have the inevitable soccer games, and I of course need to catch up on both the Bible study I am leading and the one I am attending. I also need to do some meal prep for next week, laundry, ironing and cleaning. My sweet mother-in-law is coming Monday, so cleaning will probably take the front burner!

    • Gwen says:

Attending a birthday luncheon; cleaning out “my” portion of the garage; prepping for a garage sale with proceeds to our benevolence ministry; grocery shopping — cupboard is bare!; laundry (always!); church Sunday 8 am – Noon; & pampering a husband who is sick with a cold.

    • Rene Hughes says:

I have an event this weekend for my business. I have a couple lists going right now…a time line of what needs to be done when…and a list of what to bring with me for the event!

    • Dana says:

First I am going to write my list… fix the mailbox, catch up on house work, steam clean the carpets, church, bike ride with my daughter, paperwork that never ends, can we have a 3 day weekend?

    • Lisa says:

Hmmmm, I think the most correct answer to “what am I doing this weekend” is “what am I not doing”:)

Here is the condensed list, getting ready for son’s 12th bday, pedicure, groceries, review,, revise and gather everything for next weeks lesson plans at preschool, compose a letter for a BoxTop contest at school, groceries, oil change and car clean up………. But…..friends on Sunday I am going to worship, give praise and thanks to my heavenly Father and relax with my family…..

      Life is good!

    • Desiree says:

Oh Karen, you hit the nail on the head with the too long do-to list! That has been me the last month. I am having surgery on Wednesday and my recovery puts me out for a stretch so I have been cooking and cleaning like a mad woman so my plan for this weekend is to continue getting my household prepared.

    • Heather says:

Tonight I’m going to the high school football game. Saturday I’m going to watch my niece run cross country for Cornerstone and then my husband’s softball tournament for the rest of the day. Sunday morning I lead worship. And in the down times, I’m continuing to learn as I take on the role of treasurer of my church. And making sure I have time to enjoy my 8 and 6 year olds :) It should be a fun weekend!

    • Jolene says:

Great encouragement as part of my weekend will consist of just “getting things done” around the house! The clutter is taking over and it is time to sort and purge. Have been working on it a little at a time each night this week with the help of my dear husband. I have been very overwhelmed with the back to school rush – two kids and myself all returning after a summer off. I will go home and make a list! :)

    • Susan Hutchens says:

Tomorrow we are painting our bedroom. My birthday is the 21st and this is my birthday present from my husband. Sunday will be church and time with family.

    • Kerrie Sherman says:

Oh this giveaway is perferct! Tonight will be date night with the hubby, playtime with my girl :) . This cool weather is making me want to still some quiet time with a cup of coffee and a good book. Then of course there is cleaning to be done… thinking I will stay up late and get it done tonight , just so I don’t have to think about what I gotta do this weekend! Church Sunday morning, family lunch, then off to go the The Lion King ! Gonna be a great weekend, Hope you all have a great one too !

    • JoAnne says:

At this moment, I am packing to go to the beach. Someone blessed us with a free stay at their beach house! The beach always revives me to keep on keepin on. I am making lists for suitcase, Walmart, food, and quiet study bag. Always looking for new ways to stay organized.

    • Cindy H says:

I am going shopping with a good friend, whose hubby is returning from Kuwait next week. She has gotten into the T-shirt and knit shorts wardrobe routine, so we are going to see if we can add in some nice pieces for fall and to boost her confidence. After that, I have the usual Saturday chores, which involves laundry, laundry, and more laundry. We will be worshipping at church on Sunday and maybe getting some rest before the new work week begins.

    • Eein says:

Well, we have a quiet day today as we are down a car-husband had to take mine to work. So kiddos biked to school and I will attempt to reduce the mountain of laundry and papers. Tomorrow starts out with 8am football and then nothing else on the schedule except trying to get the car fixed and getting autumn decorations out of the box. I’ve already started with the pumpkin candes. Sunday is busy as our church’s sunday school resumes. Off to the in-laws for lunch and then back to church for my daughter’s confirmation class. I hope during all of that business our family is able to love on each other and enjoy each other. Have a wonderful weekend Karen. Thanks so much for being so wonderful!!

Also on Sunday we will be working on the agenda and planning the ordination serve for my son. His church will be ordaining him as youth pastor in a few weeks. I am very proud of both my kids and happy that even though they are growing up they still want to spend time with mom and dad.

I’ve got too much clothing that I just don’t need nor wear; time for a Good Will run! Sunday is another marathon day at church with meetings and a special service at the nursing home, so my personal to do list will have to wait until Monday :-) .

    • Karlene says:

I will be taking my son to the zoo in the morning, then going to a meeting at church, then I will be off to take my son to a friend’s birthday party. I am spending today “oddly”enough trying to get organized in my craft/junk room.
Although, after walking in the room and look around I become overwhelmed.
This seem to be my pattern with all attempts at organization. I wouls love(need) your book :)

Oh my!! That first sentence completely embodies the past week! My weekend includes two football games, a volleyball tournament, a nephew’s birthday party, two cupcake orders and church. Can I have a weekend to recover from the weekend??

    • Sherry Payne says:

This weekend is full but all great activities. Tonight is the first home varsity football game, followed by taking my daughter and friends to a “fifth qtr” youth event that will end at midnight. Saturday morning I’ll be at church to listen to a guest speaker (Travis Plumlee) address the youth parents and then back in the afternoon for the address to children’s parents. Sunday he will lead worship at our church and then that evening begin one of Lysa TerKeurst’s bible studies. Looking forward to being filled and fueled this weekend! Hope you have a terrific time, too!

    • Susan says:

Other than the usual laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, school/sports activities and other errands, I will be going through a serious backlog of filing/paperwork and working the shredder overtime. Sunday will be church and hopefully a relaxing afternoon with the family.

    • Susan says:

A plan?? That’s one of my main obstacles in not getting anything done – I don’t have a plan. This weekend I will be getting things ready to go and stay at my son’s house next week while my daughter-in-law is on jury duty. That means things like washing clothes and making sure everything here is taken care of before I go.

    • Karen says:

1-consolidate items in 2 dressers into 1 dresser so I can sell 1 dresser which will free up precious closet space.
2-chauffeur my kids and their friends here and there

    • Lucy Sanguinetti says:

one of my best friends, Liz, is moving from Mississippi to Arizona. Her husband has already gone before her to start his new job. She’s been left with the task of painting, cleaning, purging junk and getting rid of the unsightly huge burn piles of scrap wood and tree limbs that he “intended” to do before he left. Now the realtor has strongly suggested that it needs to be done. So “we are women…..hear us roar!”. Together with the volunteer fire department, we are have a “controlled” burn pile day on Saturday, and then my husband is mowing and preparing her yard for selling her house!!! BUT I surely will miss her! :)

    • Kiley says:

We are moving our family of 5 from California to Texas this weekend! We sold our house that we’ve lived in for 10 years and God is taking us on a new journey that begins today! We packed up the house last night and will be headed out this afternoon. Please keep us in your prayers as we are driving straight through with 3 little boys! My husband starts his new job out there on Monday morning! We have to say ‘bye’ to all our family today. It’s not going to be easy. :(

      • BELINDA says:

    • Kathie says:

My husband is painting my 9 year old’s bedroom – which is a big deal for us as he is “color phobic!”…..she wants vertical stripes painted – 3 colors! He may be color blind when it’s all done! (or else he will think he’s in a circus tent!) But that is what she chose…..Our friends are coming over tonight to help move furniture and eat dinner with us. The “girls” will be going out to buy more paint after dinner so they will have enough and the boys will do the heavy lifting. Since I wasn’t allowed to do that to my room when I was growing up, I wanted her to be able to choose what she wanted – it’s her room after all. On Saturday, My daughter and I are going shopping for new grown up bedroom furniture for her – at least we are going out to look. My daughter will also be attending her first “Princess Tea” (princess of the King (God) not Disney) then will be going to church on Sunday so it should be a full weekend.

    • RebeccaF. says:

    • Amber Jones says:

      Dearest Karen,
Your energy and enthusiasm for organization encourages me as one who is NOT organized one bit. I actually think that I may be able to implement some of these strategies. I loved hearing you speak at H-A-H in “Normal” which is where I live and we have our own “normal” life.

I am working this weekend (and every weekend). I am an ER nurse and work 2-12hour shifts every weekend, so I can stay home during the week with our 3 children.

I would love to win the free giveaway! Thanks for your blog and ministry!

I have already gone on my walk, gathered everything for the trash and currently I am reading some of my online devotionals while doing laundry so my husband will have clean running clothes for a race on Saturday which is about an hour away. We will be taking my mom with us as we will be visiting with my sister after the race. After the race my sister will be working at their family business during the day so I am taking her son to his hockey assessment. When we are done with that my husband and I are going to take my nephew apple picking and than back to his house to go out to dinner with my sisters family for her birthday. On Sunday we are going to pick my mom up for church and head to our church where we are celebrating the opening of our new building with a Praise and Worship starting outside and we will proceed into the building together in unity praising the Lord for what he has done and what he is going to do. This weekend I will spend sequestered on my couch…bed rest. I will watch the accumulation of dust growing on my furniture and dishes piling in my sink. Here’s how I hope I spend the bulk of my weekend — devouring God’s word, praying for those who are in need of a touch from Him, and writing my heart out. If I can spend this weekend praising Him and being thankful in even this “down” season, then I will smile and say, “This was a weekend well spent!”

I’ll be hearing some youth orchestra chair auditions tomorrow morning, and then we’ll probably spend the rest of the weekend continuing to unpack from our recent move. With two kids two and under, we’ve learned not to put a whole ton on our to-do list anymore.

    • Susan says:

Oh, How I need to get organized – and THIS weekend I am starting. In between 2 birthday parties I have to take my kids to, bridal shower, and family dinner.
And I need to shop for my daughter’s birthday.

    • Margaret says:

The boys have footballs games and with any luck, I’ll get to the piles of papers on my desk.

      Hey Friends :)

I have the privledge of working in the Tehama County Fair’s Children’s Art Building this weekend. Boy do I need organization for this. We receive and display masterpieces done by such creative children. My favorite part is getting to meet each artist and hear their interpretation of their piece. And then there is seeing the faces light up when they see their work with a shiney ribbon attached :) Fun, fun, fun!

    • This weekend starts out a little ‘rushed’ but gets easier:
Get home from work today at 5:30 p.m.
Make ice cream dessert (ice cream sandwiches, cool whip, and crushed up M&M’s – any candy will do)
Go to a meeting at a friend’s house at 7:00 p.m. to help organize a benefit fundraiser for her husband, who has cancer
Go back home, grab ice cream dessert and get to church by 8:00 p.m. for annual Ladies “All Night” gathering (from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.)

That’s the rushed part – from getting home til getting to the church – but after I get home Saturday morning it slows down :) I’ll (hopefully) go to bed and get a little sleep. Then later my sister will be coming up and who knows what she, Mom and I will get into! LOL

Then Sunday is the Lord’s day! Looking forward to that one as always :) I love that we are still allowed to worship freely and publicly in this country. What a blessing that is!

Will be sending up prayers for you, Karen, and also still sending up prayers for Thais :)

      Love ya!

This weekend I will be cleaning out my youngest daughters dressers and also putting away the summer clothes for both daughters.
I also will be cleaning out the refrigerator and playing catch up on laundry oh and need to make my youngest’s blanket. I finished her sisters last night and she REALLY wants hers done now too. : ) At least they are still at the age that they enjoy getting something I make for them.

This weekend I am packing up our family of 4 to head to Florida for a week to see my in-laws…will be first time flying with both kids (ages 3 & 2) & we fly standby…..should be quite the adventure! ;)

    • Laura says:

My weekend will seem short as I’ll be in retreat meetings for work Friday evening and Saturday morning. Before working again on Monday, I have plans to spend time with my daughter watching a movie and shopping for something she can wear for her picture day next week. I’ll also make a short list of cleaning chores, but may decide to relax and read instead of getting it all done. (smiles) I’m also starting the Bible study on A Confident Heart.

    • My hubby is going to work, so I’m taking my 10 year old and 10 month old to some local festivals and craft fairs.

    • Tari O. says:

I’ll be cheering my 4 kids at soccer games, praising my Lord, and breathing a prayer of gratitude that although my head is spinning…we are happy, healthy, & blessed!

    • Beth says:

Going to the Balloon Festival tonight, and spending time with my kiddos all weekend! Somewhere in there, I’ll clean the house, too.

    • Barbara Moretich says:

I am sewing 85 letter size bags for a Journey to Damascus this weekend. Need to rest on Sunday, but Mom will probably keep me busy with something. She’s 75 and trying to get organized herself. We just cleared out my in-laws estate and have stuff everywhere. Need to plan a garage sale and/or trip to Goodwill.

    • Bina says:

This weekend is a mess of appts, mom-can-i’s, and honey-do’s. Yes it is all written down, but sheesh…what a mess! Haha

    • I would love to say, enjoying the crisp ovely weather with open windows in a wonderfully organized house…BUT I will say instead just the first part! The house is moderately, manageably messy! That will not keep me from having my daughter’s friend (s) over, helping at a church event and enjoying the beach event in our community called :End of Summer” Festival! But I will be thinking of the ceiling fans that need dusting, bathroom that needs cleaning and what to serve dinner! Per usual! PLEASE HELP. Oh I will squeeze a blog post in and teach the cutest boys 1st and second grade a Sunday School lesson along the way! HELP! lol WIth Him all things are possible…

    • Darcy Koski says:

This weekend I have many plans and not enough time! LOL I have a list that includes grocery shopping, laundry(change of seasons), planning for schooling and getting our homeschool area ready, and hopefully getting the HUGE chalkboard painted on the dining room wall! Not too much of course but when you add in the five kiddoes(14-3 with the two youngest sick) and 4 fur-kids that demand attention…there never seems to be enough time/days. Loving all my blessings though and taking it as it comes. :D

After reading all of the comments, I find I have a very boring life. So may the best man/woman win.

Let’s see tonight getting ready for the Farmer’s Tailgate Market tomorrow morning. Then home to spend some time with the family. Saturday Morning, participating in the Farmer’s Tailgate Market finishes up around 12, then packing up heading to the woods for a little deer hunting with bow. At dark head home and get our grup on. Sunday, church, laundry then afternoon hunt. That night get everything ready for the start of the new week workout, full time job and then farming as my part-time. Hand not busy are the devils tools – now can’t have that. Stay busy everyone, but don’t forget count your many blessing along the way. Take Care and everyone have an awesome weekend whatever you have planned. BIG HUGS!!!

    • Susan says:

Both of my boys have a soccer game on Saturday. Sunday afternoons we always have a family dinner with my mom, sister, nephews, aunt and uncle. Since the boys don’t have school on Monday I’m taking a vacation day to spend with them.
