The Gift of Hope
When my friend LeAnn Rice of She Cooks and I decided to write our new ebook Untangling Christmas: Your Go-To Guide for a Hassle-Free Holiday we discussed the many aspects we wanted to include in the book—decorating ideas, short-cut recipes, clever gifts and creative family traditions, along with a helpful planner to enable gals to organize it all.
We found we had waaaaay more ideas than we could fit into the book so we had to pick and choose.
One portion both of us agreed on right away that we could never leave out was one near to both our families’ hearts—
Sponsoring a Compassion child!
I’ll be writing more soon about my family’s experience with our sponsored children over the past 20 years, especially what we do to teach our kids gratefulness at Christmas.
Today, I want to direct you to the Proverbs 31 Encouragement for Today devotion that LeAnn wrote called The Gift of Hope.
Read it and be challenged to open your heart (or your family’s heart) to a needy child today. We are giving away a free copy of our new book to anyone who does.

The gift of hope.
How wonderful to give at the holidays to someone who truly has need.
Compassionate Blessings,

This was a great story. It encouraged me to become a sponsor today.
Dear Karen,
Your post today resonated with my heart because I’ve been asking the Lord to help me teach my kids how to be grateful and also to share our blessings with other. We’re actually about to sign up to sponsor a child through Compassion. I read your post, and now I will read LeAnn’s devo, and it was like a confirmation from our Lord. So, thank you!
My husband and I have sponsored for years as well. We currently sponsor a child through Compassion Child; his name is Johan. We enjoy hearing from him and he always draws us a picture on the back of his letters. He is a sweet little boy from Ecuador who loves the Lord.
