However, this winter, besides one big dumping the beginning of December, it has only lightly snowed a few times, looking more like this:

Let it snow!!
I don’t really have any good memories that involve snow. I would rather remember warm beaches. But since we have no choice…..”Let it Snow”. LOL!!!!
I live in Arkansas where “a LOT” of snow if considered 4-5 inches, but last year, in January 2011, we had 24 inches!! This was a record and definately something my kids will not forget and LOVED! They are hoping for something similar this year! However, with the good comes the bad.. The power lines and trees in our area were not accustomed to such things. All this being said, it was def a fun time sledding, etc .. Our favorite snow so far!

Since I live in LA, lower Alabama, we get very little snow, but 2 years ago, we got a large amount for our area. The kids were out of school, and we were able to make a decent snowman! Believe me, this does not happen often-most of the time, we have “dirty” snowmen due to the limited snow and much more grass! It was also the last time my mother saw snow with us…she went to Heaven in April 2010. So it was a very special snow memory in my heart.
One of my most favorite “snow” stories is when I was around 12 or 13 years old it snowed on Christmas morning! As was our tradition, after opening presents at home (VERY early in the morning) we always drove into the country for Christmas breakfast at my paternal grandparents house about 20+ miles away. (If you weren’t there by 6:00 a.m., you were late!)
Since it was snowing, our family (mom, dad, my older teenage brother, my younger brother, younger sister, and all of the Christmas presents all piled into my dad’s 1942 Willys Jeep (this was in 1972 or 1973) and rode packed like sardines to our grandparents’ house. I can still see my older brother, who was over 6 feet tall at that time, sitting with his knees up to his ears as we all stuffed ourselves into that tiny jeep. I think we laughed the whole way!
What a fun contest and on a day they are predicted 6-7 inches of that darn white stuff here in NW Ohio. BRRRRR
Two memories come to mind:
When the kids were little, making snow ice cream on the first real big snow of the year – As adults they still talk about that and laugh about watching out for yellow snow.
Second memory is driving to work through the tunnels of snow piled up on each side of the road after the big blizzard in 78.
thanks Karen for making winter more fun for me as I am a spring/summer gal.
Oh-my-goodness! I absolutely LOVE the gloves and scarf!!! I don’t have a particular memory to stand out, but I love to see snow falling. Its peaceful to be outside in it because everything is so quiet. I personally think its one of God’s most graceful and beautiful creations-even if it does cause some complications sometimes..hehe
. When it starts snowing I always think of the world as being God’s snow globe.
Let it snow! I have lived in Utah most of my life, now we are in Colorado. I love the snow! In Utah we really had alot of snow all winter. Colorado winters are different. Sometimes alot of snow or not so much. But then the spring in Colorado brings snow. It melts usually in a couple of days. So…in Colorado it never really “feels” like winter.
My favorite memory of snow is Christmas 2010 at the age of 41 I experienced my FIRST White Christmas!
We don’t get a lot of snow here in East Tennessee…but my most memorable was the year I turned 30 (17 years ago tomorrow). It was 24 below zero with 12 inches of snow on the ground!!! I say….”Let it Snow”!!!
Hi Karen!
The only memories I have of snow is a few snow flurries! I live in north Florida so we don’t see much of it. We have had a couple of days recently that dropped down to about 18 degrees though & that was freezing cold for us.
Blessings,
Janet W.
Please Let It Snow- so atlanta will shut down for one week again like last year:)
Living in Winnipeg, Canada, we tend to have a lot of snow (not so much this year however). I used to love “snow days” as a kid (no school), and now I love the hoar frost on the trees, and the sparkling glittering snow when we have a crisp cold sunny day – love our blue skies!
I live down in S. Ga. so I don’t have snow very often. When my sister was born in 1973 it snowed a good bit here. There’s a picture of little me in the snow. On the first Christmas after my husband and I were married, it snowed just a bit, I thought that was very special! When we lived around the Atlanta area, it snowed when my first child was little and we have pictures of little her in the snow. We moved back here so my sons had never seen snow, well two years ago it snowed a tiny bit and they all three were running around and dancing in the snow. It was great to see!
Blessings!
Let it snow! Favorite memory, sledding in the neighborhood growing up.
My favorite memory of snow was when my mom and I moved back to Canada from Arizona in the early 60′s. There was a snowfall that had so much snow, I was not able to see any houses on my grandmothers street. It was piled so high, I had to walk on the road and wait to go through an opening someone had constructed and walk on the shovelled sidewalk to find her house. The houses were mainly semidetached, so there was nowhere to put all the snow that had come. The road she lived on was reduced to a laneway because of the piles of snow. I had a ball later sliding around on the snow and making snowballs and snow angels.
My husband and I were stationed at KI Sawyer AFB in the UP (near Marquette) for 8 years. We are both from Michigan, but you haven’t seen snow until you’ve lived up there! Wow! By the time January rolls around, you can’t even see across the street to the neighbors because the snow is piled so high! We bought a very used snowmobile one year we were up there, and it was so much fun. I’ll never forget the trip we took to the next town with friends on our snowmobiles and then eating at the greasy spoon. After the long trip, the food tasted spectacular! Ha! We also both decided to be daring and ride up the back of the ski hill on base. I didn’t think we were going to make it because it was sooo steep! But we did, both couples! Now being back in lower Michigan, I do miss fun times like that but not that much snow! However, I do think snow is so pretty! Thanks for these fun contests, Karen!
I don’t like snow but there was some good memories. When my boys was small the blissard of 93 we was snowed in for a week with no electricity. one night the boys and I went sledding down the road (no cars, too much snow), then made hot chocalate, that was fun.
It almost never snows in Houston, but I have one beautiful memory of driving to work two years ago as big flakes of snow gracefully cascaded down all around me. It was perfect, because it didn’t accumulate so it was still safe to drive. My son was very young and for weeks afterwards would say “do snow again” like we had any say in the matter!
Let it snow!!
i am totally happy for it NOT to snow!
Let it Snow!
Let it snow!
I love watching my kids get all bundled up to go play in the snow. They look like little marshmallows going out the door. Usually the time it takes to get them all bundled up lasts longer than the time spent outside.
Let It Snow! (in Alabama!)
Favorite memory of snow. As a kid my sister and I would sit by the window and watch it snow and pray that school would be cancelled. As soon as we found out it was we where outside making snow people and sledding.. Remember those days and being so carefree.. Praying now that we get enough snow so that I can call her and we can go out and make snow people and go sledding again. It has been over 30 years since we have done that. we are going to do it again… Thank you for having me think about my favorite snow time to bring that memory back and act upon it.
I also live in Michigan, so I am experiencing what you are!!! It is so gorgeous! My hubby and I (and our girls and extended families) hunt coyotes in the snow with hounds, so we love snow! I don’t have any winter memories without snow, so it’s the norm for me. We have had sledding, snowmobiling, hunting, etc all in the snow and I love all of it. I’m not a big fan of the cold, but you get used to it once your in it for a while. I can’t imagine winters without snow……I’d miss it
Good Morning!!! After growing up in North Dakota (land of snow!!) I moved to Texas. My most favorite snow was the time (have been 3!!) when it snowed on Christmas Eve!!! Thanks and many blessings!! Barb
I live in Northeast KS and we have had absolutley NO snow this winter! Let it snow Let it snow!!!
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow! I Love snow days but living here in Dallas Texas we have yet to see snow this winter, and its going to be a lovely day of 79.
Oh my! I wrote of many memories involving snow but it would not post and the site closed.
For the sake of time I will share only a couple – Dad having to dig us out from the inside when the door would not open due to a major snowfall during the night (northern Canada) and horse drawn sleigh rides while snow gently fell and we sang Christmas carols.
Let it snow!!!
We do not get much snow in TX. We are from MI, so I have many good memories. One is taking them sliding……when we moved to TX 31 years ago, we brought the sleds. Alas, very little snow and the sleds were put to rest, but they still have the MI memories.
Let It SNOW!
Let it snow! Can’t say I really want it here in Kansas!
When I was little, it used to snow so much in southeastern Wisconsin…we had enough snow on the ground most winters that the neighbor girl and I would make tunnels between our houses! My younger sister and I built a HUGE snowman one year…we needed a ladder and then my dad’s help to get the snowman’s head onto his body. We named him “Frankie”…don’t know why we chose that name, but we decided it was a good name for him. Now that I’m grown with a 5 year old, my best memories are all the new experiences he has in the snow. Unfortunately, central Iowa has gotten next to NO snow this year. Last night was supposed to be our first big snowfall but we got roughly an inch. I can still see the grass poking out from the snow. Kind of pathetic for mid January in Iowa
I grew up in Nebraska where blizzards could come on quickly. I have 10 brothers and sisters and we were all invited to a friend’s house for dinner. As I look back, this family is the only family who ever invited us over to eat with them. (10 kids, no wonder, right?) On our way home, a blizzard came up suddenly and add that to the snow already on the ground, we quickly got stuck. We waited in the car while my Dad and oldest brother walked to get us the pickup to pull us out. I was only 4 at the time. When they got back, Dad told us to run to the pickup that was warm. I remember trying to run and the snow blowing in my face. It was the best feeling ever to have my Dad lift me up and run with me to safety. I know that my heavenly Father does the same thing for me daily. Again…the best feeling ever.
Let it snow!
I don’t really like when it snows because usually its slippery for me to walk & I’m glad I can’t drive but I still get scared for others doing it. However, I do like to bundle up with everything so “Let it Snow”.(and How pretty it looks)
My favorite memories of snow is when I was a kid growing up in Minnesota. We would have a lot of big snow storms almost every year. Sometimes our neighbors would have to dig out our doorway so that we could get out of our house. We would drive snowmobiles to the grocery store since our rode hadn’t been plowed out yet. Another time when I was 15 my family and I were traveling through Iowa to see relatives when we got caught in a blizzard. They closed the road and we had to spend the night in a church off the freeway. The people from that church were so hospitable. They fed us and made sure we had bedding so that we could sleep. As a teenager I thought this was a great adventure.
It doesn’t snow much in Texas really….
but I do remember as a kid getting snowed in out in western Texas one year after Christmas at my grandparent’s home and getting extra vacation days!
Living in Nebraska, I fondly remember building forts and tunnels in the high drifts of snow. As I’ve gotten older, though, the less snow the better!!!
We got a toboggan as a family present this Christmas, and we haven’t been able to use it yet, so we are hoping that we can this weekend and make some memories–snow is in the forecast here in IL!
I’m not fond of the cold or the snow, but living in Wisconsin, snow is inevitable…so let it snow! And bring on spring!
I remember one winter we had so much snow that the snow plow got stuck trying to clear our street! My kids we little then and we all had so much fun playing in it!
We live in Southeast Tennessee, so we get a few small snows a year. Christmas 2010, we woke up to about 4-5 inches of snow and had a White Christmas – one of only a few I can remember in my lifetime! It was beautiful and most folks could still get out and drive! And there was enough to make snowcream for a few days!
I love snow! A winter walk is exhilarating! So let it snow!!
I remember once in I think it was in 1979 there was a terrible blizzard and the morning we went to get up the snowdrift was 3 quarters the way up the door and we could not get out. So we got garbage bags and went sledding out the front door in order to shovel. I had a blast because both my parents were also home for the day and we made soup and cookies after trying to get out of all the snow.
Memories of snow… well the last two winters here in South Jersey have been record setting in terms of the amount of snow we have had! Out where I live we got snowed in several times the past couple years. Our road actually sported drifts so high plows couldn’t get through them and they brought out heavy construction equipment to dig us out. I guess my fondest memory of these years will always be how much neighbors helped each other out. We dug each other out of our driveways, pushed cars through snowbanks on the roads, farmers out here plowed or dug neighbors out… and my in-laws down the road hosted my son’s birthday party at the last minute when our driveway just became too impassable.
Although I dislike the cold, it seems I have many good memories related to snow. I was never allowed to go out and play in it as a kid; in fact don’t think I even owned a snowsuit. But as an adult, I made up for it. My first memory of playing in the snow was when I was in my early 20′s and the little girls next door invited me to go sledding. That was my first time ever sledding.
Now, we live on a hillside, so we sled outside our house. A few years ago, when my oldest was a senior in high school, we had a big dumping that cancelled school. Her friend walked over from half a mile away, and she stayed with us for the day. The two of them, my two younger daughters (who were 9 and 4 at the time) and I went sledding and built a snow-woman. We put a wig and a fancy hat on her, and a bra and a wrap-around skirt. We all laughed till we were rolling in the snow. When my husband came home, we proudly showed him our snow-woman, but he was not amused like we were. He was mortified that we would display a bra outside like that. The funniest part about his consternation is that our nearest neighbor is the family from half a mile away, and the snow-woman was built in a part of the yard that nobody can even see. LOL I’m STILL laughing about it. Best snow day ever.
My family moved to Wyoming this past year. We have really enjoyed trying new activities like cross country skiing, snowshoeing and sleding. It has been such a change for us, with the amount of snow we get up here.
Have a great day!
After we moved to Wisconsin, I remember the first time my kids had a snow day so well! They were outside very early in the morning playing with PJ’s under snowpants. We had a wonderful day all together, snuggled warm inside, playing games and just enjoying the unexpected special gift of a day together.
Let it snow!!! I’m in MI, too, and we have lots of snow right now. It is fun to anticipate snow days with my kids like I used to when I was little.
No snowpants so dressed our children in a couple layers. They made snow chair/throne etc. Then played fox and geese with them
We’ve been snowed in here in Seattle for almost a week so it’s hard to say ‘let it snow!’ I’ll opt for ‘Let it melt!’ today. : )
My favorite memories of snow is having three of our grand-daughters slide on cardboard down a small hill to the right of our home. Now they are all mothers. Afterwards it was cofee for the parents and grandparents, and hot chocoate with marshmellows for the little ones. FUN FUN FUN~
Living in VA we usually get at least one or two good snow falls a winter but this one has been very mild. I say, “LET IT SNOW”, one good time and then on to Spring.
When I was a little girl, maybe 3 or 4, we got a few feet of snow. That was a lot even for central PA, and so my dad’s plant shut down and he didn’t have to go to work. He always spent lots of time outside during snowstorms, shoveling snow, clearing away ice, etc., but this time when he was done he bundled me up and put me on my sled. He pulled me down our hill, past the duck pond and fire station, and through our little village. It was so pretty in the snow!
Let it snow!
Let it snow, let it snow, in North Carolina. I wanna win that package. You give such nice give away and always have such great ideas. I’ve used several for gifts already.
I hope was how you entered. I’m not to good at the computer stuff. jean
My favorite memory of snow is watching my kids play in the snow for the first time every year. They always get so excited.
I live in southwest Georgia where it seldom snows. Then I remembered 35 years ago last week, my husband and I got snowed in — in the north Georgia mountains. It was our honeymoon!
When we lived in Waukegan IL, there was a place we used to go that had a tall slide that went out over a little lake. When that lake was frozen solid and there was snow all around we would venture out there. The whole family would get on one sled and then go flying out over the ice! It was terrifying and the most fun we’ve ever had!
There was also a park close to where we lived that had a high hill that we sledded on in the snow!
I absolutely lOVE snow, but now that we live in NC we don’t get it much! (sigh)
My Favvorite “Let is Snow” Memory was when I was younger…we live in NC and it used to really snow good here….we would be out of school and sled down our dirt road on wooden/red Flexible Flyer snow sleds…after we waxed them really well. Man, we could go forever! then when we made our way back to the top of the big hill there would be a nice roaring fire made for us to enjoy and some hot choc. to go with it. O I just cherish those memories…we could stay outside ALL Day!! and Night….
I live in Atlanta, GA and we have had such a warm winter so far! Last year was great! We were snowed in for several days. The kids loved it!
Let it snow!
My favorite snow memory is trying to make the biggest snow man ever. Hard work but I tried every year. Alittle competition between me and my sister. I also live in Michigan and I am praying very hard that we get some snow tonight like they say we are suppose to, my kiddos really want to build a a nice size snow man. I miss the winter snow.
Let it snow! Calling for 3-5 inches herre in PA tonight.
Let it snow! We just had 2-3″ in Massachusetts and are hoping for more tomorrow! The kids and I love to build snowmen families and color them with water bottles w/ a little food coloring. One of my favorite childhood memories is racing runner sleds down the gravel road on our farm, ice skating on the pond and sledding parties.
Let it snow!!
My parents moved our family to South Carolina (from Indiana) when I was 10 years old. It doesn’t snow very often in SC, so one year when I was probably 12 or 13 when they had a “blizzard” of about 17″ it was amazing! My parents taught at a Christian university and all the students went out and created incredible, funny, terrific snow sculptures including a Viking ship, 5′ tall bulldog, and our university chancellor standing in the pulpit.
I love snow! My favorite memory was when growing up in Illinois it snowed a ton one year and my dad made my sister and I a snow house complete with windows and bench seats inside for us to sit on. I’ll never forget it. Of course, last year’s snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas here in Georgia is right up there with it!
Let it snow. My most memorable snow days are from my childhood living in South Bend, Indiana. We played in the snow, built snowmen, sledded down hills and somttimes our street, built tunnels during blizzards leading from one house to the next, bundled up in layers of clothing, put on our heaviest coat. snowboots and mittens and took off for a day of all play! I moved to Texas at the age of 12 and all that ended for good : – (
Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Just one good snow in VA is all we need. Happy Friday!
My “favorite” memorie was when we had a HUGE snow storm and we rode our snowmobile out in the country to our friends who were snowed in. They lived on a county line road (that is a road that divides two counties and is usually the last to be plowed out) and didn’t get plowed out for 4 or 5 days. My friend said when the mailman finally came to deliver their mail she ran out to the road and gave him a great big hug, she was so happy to see someone from “the outside world”. Great ride up and down through the gigantic drifts.
I love when my little neice goes out-flops down and swings those arms and legs—what beautiful snow angles she makes. Then I wish for 100 degree weather…….
I grew up in northeast Tennessee, we seemed to get a lot of snow when I was younger. We (neighborhood kids) would go to a large steep lot where there was only grass and slid down on an old front hood of an old car…you talk about speed! We had the best time. The adults would build a big fire off to the side so we could warm up. And of course hot chocolate was readily available by wonderful mothers. We would do this until way after dark. My mother was grateful for the alone time I’m sure! Great memories. I now live in east Texas and no more snow like that.
I remember a lot of fun days playing in the snow when I was growing up. I can’t really say I have a favorite memory. I loved how the snow would get icy on top and we could easily walk across it. I remember one day my sister and I along with a neighbor friend were riding on a sled together. We were going down the hill right toward the creak. My sister and our friend jumped off but didn’t tell me to jump. I ended up in the creak and I don’t think it was frozen. The one thing we hated about the snow was that many times the school systems in the counties around us got out but we’d have to go to school and walk there in the snow.
When I was a little girl my family, grandparents & uncles with their families would rent a cabin during Thanksgiving break and we’d spend the holiday there. Every other year it would snow. Every year we got the same cabin and would have a blast playing in the snow. The cabin was at the end of the road and most of the surrounding cabins would be empty so we had the WHOLE driveway to go sledding on. Those were such the best childhood memories of my past. Oh and we were such a large family that we would use the ping pong table for Thanksgiving dinner. It was so awesome.

let it snow!
My favorite memory is from the 70′s. We lived in south Alabama and it snowed several feet. We went out and made snow angels, and a snowman. It usually got cold but that was the first snowfall of the magnitude that we had seen. I don’t know if it has snowed that much again since. I can also remember my dad and mom cooking for us over the fire in our fireplace. Have loved the snow every since. LET IT SNOW!!!!!
Let it snow! (Just let my husband be in town when it happens!)
The most snow we ever got was 27″ when we lived in Dalton, Ga in 1992. My husband was in Va. And I was home with our 2 small children when the storm blew in. My sweet neighbor took us all into her home and we got very creative to entertain all our kids with no electricity! God sent this angel neighbor to me when I needed her most!!
I was born and raised in Montana. When I was 4 yrs old we moved across the state. That year I remember it snowed so much we got to climb on rooftops to have our pictures taken. I still remember my cute little coat with my hand muffler. And best of all, my older brothers would pull me in a sled.
I live in Alaska and absolutely love the snow. My favorite times are when it starts snowing and just simply doesn’t let up. This year we are having record snow falls and record low temperatures (sub-zero)….never thought it could snow so much with such low temperatures. I say “LET IT SNOW!”
I think my favorite memories of snow are when my childen were small. They loved snow ice cream and sledding! I still love getting snow days!
Last Christmas we went to NC for Christmas to spend it with my family. It snowed 10 inches on Christmas and I loved watching my kids play in the snow.
The most memorable was when our car got stuck on our long driveway (we live in a country-MO). We (including our 2 granddaughters, ages 3-4yrs) had to walk all the way to our house and the next day my husband had to used our tractor to take us down to the car. Our grandkids thought it was fun and It wasn’t fun for me at all!
I live in Joplin Mo and last year we had our first blizzard. My kids are still small and was their first snowfall. Nothing can top the look in your childs eyes the first time they see snow.
Let it snow!
When I was younger we lived in Virginia and would go to upstate NY for the holidays. Since we didn’t get snow here we lived I ‘d spend hours building snow forts with my cousins.
Let it snow! (We have no where to go and my birthday to celebrate this weekend, so I’ll enjoy being cuddled up inside with my three favorite people!)
I live in Winnemucca, Nevada…we have not got alot of snow this year…but I am praying for it! My favorite memory of the snow is my uncle pulling us (me and my two borthers) on an old car hood thur the snow on an old dirt road to the river when I was a child. I love the new snow when everthing is all clean and white. Love making snowmen and snow angles., and the crunching sound it makes when you walk on it. Here are some snow flakes for you: ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?? ? ? ?? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?? ? ? ?? ? ? ?
We normally don’t get snow in East Texas so we decided one Christmas to drive to San Antonio where snow was predicted. So off on our 5 hour journey to find snow only to have a wonderful snow fall at “home” where we deserted. Oh well we had a wonderful trip and have been blessed with a few snows since then. One thing for sure, anything is possible!!!
sorry the snowflakes turn into question marks
Loved to sled with our family of 5. Put the baby in a clothes basket and pulled him around the yard!
Let it snow!! Here in Ottawa, Canada, we have many opportunities to enjoy snow!! One of my favourite memories was when we had 50 cms of snow in one weekend!! It involved a lot of shoveling but it was also lots of fun!!!
I really don’t want to say “let it snow” because in NE IN it is already doing just that… and yet, I’d love to receive enough for a snow day from work tomorrow.
