I recently attended my first Hearts at Home conference where I attended your session, keeping your ducks in a relative row. I was so inspired that in the end I bought every book from your table. I was so excited to get home and share them with my husband and girlfriends. I am on the steering team of a MOPS group in Wausau, Wisconsin (located in central WI). We are struggling a bit as a group and could really use some inspiration. I’m not sure exactly where you live or how far you are willing to travel but we would really love to have you if it’s not too much of a hassle. We meet the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month and we end in May. If a Tuesday doesn’t work for you we also host an event each year called MOPS and POPS. This is held on a Saturday evening in April. We would love to have you speak to our fellow moms and inspire them the way you inspired me and the other moms at Hearts at Home. Hi Karen, I enjoyed the clean heart scriptures in your blog. I wanted to print them for my small group but was unable to. I’m sad that I had to look them all up and copy them for myself. It would have saved a lot of time sharing God’s Word if I were able to copy and paste the section.

Hi Karen,
I just wanted to let you know how the Spirit used you to inspire me this morning. I teach a 3rd grade Worship Kidstyle class with my husband every other Sunday morning. I was preparing materials to teach the kids about Philippians 4:4 this Sunday, “Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say, rejoice.” The lesson materials seemed a little weak, and I wasn’t sure what activity I would use to fill my time with the class. Then I remembered the My Favorite Things graphic you have on the left side of your Web page. Ever since I first noticed the graphic, I’ve been thinking about some of the things I’d sing about if I were Julie Andrews–the little things in daily life that bring me pleasure when I stop to think about them. I’m going to have the kids make collages similar to your graphic. I want them to focus on non-material things that bring them joy and can help them rejoice in the little day-to-day blessings. Thanks for the inspiration!

I was especially touched by how you saw the state of the characters and the difference in Mary. Also how interesting how you saw Christmas as everyone’s birthday! LOVE today’s P31 post. You wrote the hearts of many women today.Satan deceives us into thinking anxiety is because we CARE…but the bible says it’s vain. Well I have been working super hard (you like that… a phrase I use with our kids…super hard
) remove the vanity but didn’t look at the anxiety as vain. EYE OPENER!

I just read the devotion you wrote about answer envy. Boy, oh, boy, is this resonating with me today! We moved to Denver from Sterling Heights, MI, a year ago. Our house there still has not sold. We found some renters, a wonderful Christian family, who needed a home for their large family. As much as they would like to buy it, they are not in a financial position to do so. And we would so much like to be out from under that mortgage obligation.. For now., the Lord has us in a small apartment (our family of four). To say I have been struggling with all of this is an understatement.
This continues some strenuous trials the Lord has taken me through the last ten+ years. My friends say, “When will it end for you?” I have to learn to say, “It may never.” (W
I like the challenge you offer in your devotion by asking what the Lord may have me to learn from this if He were not to pluck me from it. I know contentment is a huge one, and it isn’t easy. Not when I love to entertain and we don’t have the space. Not when we live with noisy people and two large dogs in the apartment above. Not when we have to borrow someone else’s garage to store the rest of the things we cannot fit here. I try to stuff things down with, “But so many people would consider your apartment a palace compared to their living conditions.” I’ll get there. It usually takes me longer than most to finally give in to the Lord.
Anyway, thank you for sharing your heart. I know all of us struggle with answer envy more than we are willing to admit..

Having to deal with a family member who is not where he should be and the stress that goes with it, a night with hubby at beautiful place sounds so peaceful. We live in northern Michigan during the summer and go to Florida in the winter. Our daughter and family just moved to Lansing and we will be visiting them in Oct. on our way south. What a way to unwind before the trip south. I have found Jesus after a long dry time. I have finally starting to learn what a joy it is to have a loving relationship with the Lord and finding so much that I never knew existed in a Christian life. Hi Karen. My Husband is in early stages of dementia. I have retired to help take care of him. I have been on a walk to Emmaus and I spend every morning reading Proverbs 31 but need more opportunity to seek being closer to God. I received your devotion on 9/9/11 and would love to know where this retreat is that you were talking about. I love the mountains and have been dying to go there, but since being laid off in 2008 and now make less than half of what I used to make, I can’t afford to go anywhere. I haven’t had a vacation in 5 years and even though I live alone now, I would love to just get away and enjoy God’s nature and just chill and get away from the busyness of living in the middle of Jacksonville, Florida.

I had thought I would receive either the book, or the pictures, or possibly the chocolates. I had no idea I was to receive all of these gifts. I am truly overwhelmed. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have a situation that I would love to hear your advice. Our new ladies ministry @ our church decided to host a tour of homes to benefit the Lottie Moon Christmas offering that our church participates in each year. I have expressed concerns of having a tour of homes. My concerns are that it could become something divides and causes negative comparisons w/one another. I have been charged w/ the task of coming up w/ wording to include in our map that will address this. The desire is to encourage ladies to share and open their homes I am just concerned that the tour might do the opposite. I am open to any suggestions that you might have time to make. We are giving each hostess one of your books, and giving away some as a door prize. Thanks!
I have made comments on day 1 and day 2 of Christmas and don’t see them. How long does it take for them to be approved? That is if they need to be. I was so excited about day 2 that I tried again to comment and don’t see that one either. I wanted to share that I came to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior on Christmas Eve many years ago.

I just finished reading your Proverbs 31 today about the shepherds and had to share with you the sermon that I attended this weekend. Our pastor, Adam Hamilton, of Church of the Resurrection in Kansas shared with us his knowledge of sheep. It was fascinating to me, as I had always thought that sheep were sweet and docile, but they are drawn to being stinkers – constantly eating things that they shouldn’t, constantly looking for ways to get out of the fence, they are drawn to being naughty, it is in their nature – who they are as sheep – when I heard this, I am sure you can guess my thoughts, but I was so glad to understand that God is my shepherd and I am the lamb, drawn to behavior that isn’t always pretty. I was reading Lysa devotional today and saw you were mentioned. I’m glad to find your site. Thank you!!! Please pray for me as I will be having back surgery next week. It’s outpatient, but still surgery! I know that God has paved the way and will walk with me, but prayer never hurts! I will be out of work for 6 weeks and no lifting, bending(too bad I can’t load the dishwasher), no vacuuming(sorry honey) and no lifting my arms up over my head(I will praise the Lord with out stretched arms)!
