Concern about possible health problems as I get older & feeling left out of life. I don’t enjoy shopping because I’m too big for regular sizes yet Women’s sizes are usually too big. Also I have 2 young grandsons & get tired quickly when playing with them.
I haven’t actually committed to any dietary or exercise plan yet, but am accumulating lots of resources through Made To Crave, She Cooks, & Weight Loss Wednesdays. This time, I want to make the committment when I know I’ll be able to stick with it. The beginning of the year just wasn’t right for me but I am looking ahead to a beginning in March.

Hi Karen I found out about you through Lysa and I am reading the Made to Crave book for the second time. I have it on my e-reader and I read through it so fast that I started over with everyone. I have been very sick for 4 years with rheumatoid arthritis and on high doses of steroids so I have gained a lot of weight. I guess I used the self pity lie that I “deserved” the food because I was sick and had no life so I may as well comfort myself with food. Well now 70 pounds too much I am devastated. I also joined weight watchers this week to help me have accountability and learn how much to eat. So that’s pretty much it. I cannot exercise hardly at all so that makes it worse. I must seek God instead of food for my comfort and the thing is I did not even realize I was doing it. How sad!!! Blessings…

        Kathy,
Your story is my own! I, too, have RA. I am a past runner (I am still grieving this loss due to RA), and I’m having a terribly hard time losing prednisone weight. But I am now reading Lysa’s book, in my second week of Weight Watchers, and making God-dependant decisions to eliminate my desire for sweets. I will pray for you, and please pray for me!
        Love in Christ,
        Leigh

Girls, I am right there with you! I watched the MTC webcasts, but my books were backordered, so haven’t started reading yet. And when I heard about Weight Loss Wednesdays, I was SO excited!! Maybe it’s just our area, but I’ve found it extremely hard to find ladies willing to be accountable to one another and get serious about getting healthy. I know I’m not the only chunky monkey in my circle of friends! :-)
This morning, my husband left for a business trip and the first thing I did was throw away half of a sheet cake of dark chocolate cake! Wow! That hurt! But I knew if it stayed on the counter, it’d find my way into my mouth. So ladies, I’m so happy to be a part of Weight Loss Wednesdays and I’ll look forward to “meeting” with y’all every week!! Blessings, Barb

How do I sign up? I’m 65 so not as computer literate as most seem to be. I’m ready to go, hurry and let me know while I’m so fired up. I am needing to lose lots. I eat alone. No one has any idea how much I eat. Cookies are my downfall. Why did anyone ever invent sugar and salt? We would have been better off without them. Have bad feet, bunions and spurs, but willing to give walking a try until I can get some equipment at home. Too embarassed to go to gym. Husband is administrator but formerly a personnel trainer, isn’t that embarrassing! I hate myself right now, just want to roll up in a ball and disappear. Totally sold out to my Lord except for this one big problem. Knowing that I have totally let HIM down in this area brings tears to my eyes. I am going to eat, drink, pray and stay glued to these testimonies. I just don’t know how to get started so I will send this and see if anyone can help me.

Hi girls, I just found your site via Prov. 31 women. I just read “Defined by Obedience, not by a # — that is what the Lord has been telling me. Eating right and exercising is my biggest area of disobedience… He has been telling me for years to loose the weight. I have done WW 5 times…I am currently 40 pounds over a healthy weight. My brother (47yrs) just died of all the things that I am genetically prone to. I do great for 2 days then binge for 2 days… So, I am prayerful that this site will help me. I am planning on doing a 3.5 mile Chase Corp. Challenge in 55 minutes. (The Lord put that in my path.) So, I have a training program to use… but ignored it for 2 days now… UGH. God bless, Eve

Hi Karen, I found this site by your answer envy devotion. It hit home with me. I guess I am looking for the final thing that will make a difference so that I will finally lose the weight I need to lose or more honestly the eating issue that I have. I don’t have a problem with exercise. I love it and I have been steadfastly going to the YMCA and I love it. Although there are some days that I try to talk myself out of it, I still go in the end and am so thankful. I just can’t stay consistent when it comes to eating. Sweets are like a drug to me. I have been reading made to crave by Lysa Terkeurst again not consistently. I just need prayer. I am headed down the self pity road, I know. So I just need some prayer. I don’t reach out to people easily so I pray for help.

    • One year ago my husband and I read made to crave together, what an eye opener for both of us. Food has been a battle ground for many years for us. I am on my second time around with Lysa’s book and now the devotional. Dr Oz has said to make it public so I will be starting a small group to use Lysa’s material in our local church in this coming week. Yes I am scared I am not the perfect size of 10 but I need help with local people who are in the same boat
I have attended an AA meeting for over 2 years to learn more about my eating habits. I don’t drink but sure can relat to many step when it comes to food eating, powerleessness, and secrecy. With God’s direction and knowledge I will succed this time

    • While looking for another book, I came upon the book Made to crave. I pray this is the answer to my battle with my weight ,which has been an uphill battle for years now. I had gastric bypass surgery 5 years ago. .It was not the cure all that I thought it would be .i love the Lord, am born again and recently joined a support group @my church. Any help you or your readers can give me would be greatly appreciated. I declare this is my year to succeed.
