Let Them Eat Cake!
I have a little problem at my house.
No one likes cake.
You see, I love to bake cakes, especially for someones birthday. And for other occasions too. I come by it innocently. My mom used to bake a cake for us on the first day of school each year. And one for Easter. Valentines Day. You name it. But this tradition doesn’t seem to be carrying over well with my brood.
Spencer goofing around with the laptop’s built in camera.
In fact, today is Spencer’s 11th birthday. Like with all my offspring, when I asked him what cake he wanted me to bake for him, he answered, “None. I want peach cobbler.” His brother picks Chocolate Boston Grahams (recipe in the Jan. history) His dad loves pecan pie and Kenzie chooses strawberry cheesecake. No one around here is a big fan of cake.
So today, after our schoolday is done, I’ll whip up a cobbler for the little whipper-snapper. Along with some mock Chic-Fil-A sandwiches from a recipe I found on the Internet (we have no Chic-Fil-A’s in Michigan!) and we will celebrate.
I, however, will pass on the cobbler and instead down an entire carrot cake for the occasion. (A 2 point Weight Watchers carrot cake that is…)
Frosting Forever Blessings,
You’re more than welcome to bring cakes around here any time! They always go faster than I can bake them in this house. Certainly makes my efforts feel appreciated though!
FYI.. There IS a Chic-Fil-A in Michigan. It is in the Detroit area on Oakland University Campus.
SO if you are ever in the area, let me know and we’ll save us a cow and have some chicken!
I love how you’re going to go enjoy you some cake regardless! :o) Thankfully, my guys enjoy cake – anytime! They are already looking forward to the Valentine Cake they know will be part of this weekends meal plan.
I’ll have to search the web for the mock Chic-Fil-A sandwich recipe. Living in Canada I ‘hear’ about Chic-Fil-A, but have never seen one or tasted one.
Enjoy a nice cup of tea or coffee with your cake!
We moved a couple of years ago from GA to MN. Chick Fil A is one of those staples that we all miss dearly. Would you mind sharing the recipe for the chicken sandwiches (or the link to the website)? We would all be very grateful!!!
Hy Friend, you can make a cake for me anyday!
Just finsihed reading your Complete Guide to Getting and Staying Organized and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Very practical and motivating. :0)
