Oh, and if ‘ya wanted to whisper a prayer that I don’t cough or sneeze live on the air after a long week with the flu, why that would just be so greatly appreciated!! Your prayers have seen me through and I don’t want them to stop now!!!!
In the mean time, I have two fun Valentines Day giveaways for you–one for you married women and one for the single gals. I guess this is my equivalent of taking treats to school for my friends. :-)
Oh and speaking of treats…..hop on over to my dear friend LeAnn Rice’s site SheCooks.org where I am sharing a favorite treat recipe for Valentines Day–homemade peanut butter cups!
LeAnn is also a guest on this week’s Made to Crave webcast. (Where we will try to encourage you to crave God, not homemade peanut butter cups! But hey…a tiny treat is okay now & then, right?)
Enough chit-chat. Now, for the giveaways:

Loved-by-Him Blessings,
Hello beautiful ladies!!! I loved reading the other ladies comments!!! How neat! And what great ideas!!
I have two memories that are tying for first place as a favorite. The first was our belated “honeymoon” we took. We didn’t have the money to go on a real honey moon right after our wedding. So we went to Long Beach Washington about 8 months later! ha! we had so much fun! The best part was walking down to the beach at night and finding a fire that someone had built and abondoned. We sat down on this log, and shared a bottle of wine (right from the bottle in a brown bag! LOL). It was so fun! As we were sitting there, we saw a group of teenagers running around using their camera to light up the beach for their own fire wood, so we started telling each other funny stories about the silly things we did as teenagers. It was so nice to be snuggled up next to my hubby. We felt like spectators of the world!
The second most romantic weekend was when we went to my cousins wedding. I rented a nice hotel room and bought some new “horizontal fellowship” related outfits for the evening. After a fun day of walking around and having a nice lunch, we rented a movie, and I surprised him by trying on all of the outfits! Very romantic!
Many years were lean years for us so my husband often wrote a poem from his heart for me. I have cherished those poems. Now he takes me out for dinner, which is just as special.
I love to cook, so having friends over for a meal is a great loving time for me. No,down on your luck singles night at my home, just good friends, food and times.
For our first Christmas together, my husband bought a photo box and painted on it our name and memories and included photos of us and inside the box was another gift with a necklace in it. That was the year my husband proposed to me the day after Christmas and we married on New Year’s Eve.
We have had lots of great times together! A favorite Valentines was when my hubby gave me a present, I opened it to find new kitchen towels. That’s just how I said it trying to smile, “Oh, new towels.” As I went to unfold the towels, an emerald ring fell out! Gosh did I feel silly!
Met my husband 19 years ago in January and it really was love at first sight! On our first Valentine’s Day a few weeks later he surprised me with a matching Pink Ice ring & earring set which fit perfectly and we had not even talked about exchanging gifts or anything! I thought that he was the greatest thing to do that all by himself, lol! We married 3 months later, and now have a 15 year old daughter. Love them with all my heart!! =)

My favorite thing to do with my friends is going shopping and talking about what all is going on in our lives. While driving we often make jokes about business names, street name or town names. Its also fun to stay at home and watch s movie even though we are usually talking through those things. If you haven’t noticed I am single.
Favorite memory was when he proposed. My ring was in the center of a rose , in the center of a carton of Ben and Jerry’s Chubby Hubby ice cream!
When we were fist married (we have been married 42 years!) My husband worked at a paper company. We had little money and two children. One of his jobs required cutting hearts out of packages. he took one of the hearts and wrote me a special message. This was all he could afford but was a special message.
My husband always takes our sons on a special outing to get me Valentine’s Day Cards. My younger son wants to get me the biggest box of chocolates.
Last year my husband (of 20 years) and I bought bicycles and we took them on vacation with us. We had a wonderful time touring and riding and relaxing. We don’t get away from the ranch much, so the vacation was a wonderful time (we had a beautiful room on the lake, very romantic)!
I enjoy maybe going to dinner with my friends, or just sitting around at one of our homes and being able to fellowship. It has been a really long time since I have even seen any friends I moved about 25 miles out of town and have no transportation and have basically been strande for 2 years. My step-dad takes me to the store n things sometimes but other than that I have been at home for over a month at a time, I am single, have 4 children 14, 11, 4, 19 mths. I know things will change: “I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, to give you a future and a hope:)
There are so many, but my favorite must be our first Valentine when he surprised me with a path of Hersey Kisses that led to the bathroom where there hung a dozen roses and a heart shaped balloon with a card that read, “now that I have kissed the ground you walk on, showered you with roses, and given you my heart, will you be my Valentine?” That was eleven years ago, and I still say “yes”.
leave us a comment letting us know your favorite way to spend time with your friends. What do you do? Where do you go?
I love going on a road trip to a near by city ( our town is small) for the day. We get a pedicure, go out to eat and visit and then we either go shopping or go to a movie. Just fun girl time.
Being single I always appreciate how my married friends include me on get togethers. Uusally the men do their thing and the women are doing their thing so it’s never akward. It’s always nice to be included. They have the choice to say no, but don’t leave them out.
This is a tough one…I was married for nearly 30 years until 7 weeks ago when my hubby passed on to Heaven…I suppose (although I LOVE everything in the Married give-away)…I need to enter the ‘single’ give-away!!
After 22 years together, I definitely know the most romantic moment we ever spent, and it was very recent.
My husband, who is 67 this year, gave his life to the Lord just about a month ago. We had never had a bible study together, and now we share that every morning. I had gone to church with my children, with my parents, and with other family members, but in 22 years, only about 6 times with my husband – and some of those were weddings and funerals. Three months ago, God turned our lives upside down and moved us from LA to AR – and he wasn’t done there. Long story made short… Saturday, Howard and I shared fellowship at a Valentines Breakfast with our new church family. God looked ahead in time (as He often does!) and promised me a husband who is a spiritual leader. God always fulfills his promises!
Oh yeah – the romantic moment.. lol.. all of them since my God is the center of my marriage. And, he said I am his angel on earth and thanks God for me. Wow.
The most romantic time was to celebrate Valentine’s Day! My husband secretly planned a weekend getaway excursion just for the two of us. Awaiting us in the hotel room was a fruit and chocolate tray, chocolate being one of my favs! We had a wonderful dinner for two and just enjoyed each other. He showed his love for me in such a special way as my heart was grieving the recent loss of my precious mother who died suddenly and so unexpectedly. God blessed me with such a kind, compassionate husband for which I am so grateful! God’s love is so amazing!
My favorite way to spend time with my best friend when we get the time is to go out to eat, then go to the park are somewhere else peaceful depending on the weather at the lake–and read his word together or discuss a christian book we both are reading together! Just relaxing and catching up on our lives and all the ways we are blessed
We were broke and in college when we got married, and didn’t have much of a honeymoon. My husband felt a little bad about that, so he planned for a cruise for our first anniversary. We took a Caribbean cruise in early September, which we found out is hurricane season. One night at sea, everyone else on board was inside at the midnight buffet so we were completely alone in the hot tub on the top deck. The wind was blowing and we could see a storm several miles off. It was perfect!
For my 10th Anniversary, we moved to Japan, but while in Japan with the Air Force, he took me to Hawaii for a week. It was fun and warm and sunny February. Back in Northern Japan it was like 30 and we had over 100 inches of snow on the ground. Oh, and we flew there for free in the back of military cargo planes, via Guam! It was not romantic flying, but having a free ride to Hawaii and back was great! (yes they bolt down seats and you line up to get on, first come first serve and you get a nice pair of ear plugs as there is no sound proofing the engines. An adventure but the warm sand on the beach and the beautiful hotel, fresh fruit and a WALMART we were well worth it. (no walmart in Japan for bargain shopping) I hope that made some of you laugh! Happy Valentines day, he met me for lunch at Panera today after I taught my morning preschool class, and I have a dozen roses on the table for my arrival home. I am blessed.
The day he asked me to marry him was a total surprise to me. He got me to the place under the guise of “counseling” the girlfriend of the guy he had gone to counsel (we were youth pastors at the time). When I arrived, he was dressed in a suit with a table for two set up with roses as well as a violin player. He had my favorite foods and dessert. {He was recreating a scene from “our” movie, Kate & Leopold. He asked me to marry him at the end of dessert, and then we spent the whole evening snuggled together talking and planning our future together. A beautiful night!
I have been sitting here trying to think of a single most romantic time with my husband. I just cannot narrow it down. From asking my permission to kiss me the very first time to kneeling in the mud to propose; from telling me that he loves me and will pray for me every moment before deploying, to the letters during…. Twenty years of sweet thoughtful actions to show his love for me….
God made the perfect man for me, He knew my every need and has filled them according to His will. I look back over all of our years together and all of the ups and downs. I am so thankful, that in every moment (romantic or not) God has taken care of us and kept us together.
Thanks for letting me share. <3
The hubs and I took a trip to New Orleans, just the two of us! All six kids left behind! That was memorable. Oh, by the way, I have the flu too! H1N1 three of us down for the count. Glad you are feeling better
