My sweet friend, prayer warrior and fellow Proverbs 31 speaking sister Luann Prater is a bundle of Jesus, she is!
I love to glean wisdom from her and more than anything, I love to hear Luann pray. Her deep connection to our Lord just spills over in every aspect of her life.
Here her heart on Encouragement Cafe’.
Doing an interview one Saturday at a local Christian radio station for Proverbs 31.
The station manager and producer asked me to prayerfully consider doing a talk show for women because every time I was on, they had a surge in call-ins and comments.
I said I would pray about it. I went home and asked my husband.
He said, “You didn’t open this door, God did. You need to walk through it.”
I asked my pastor the next day to pray with me about it. He said, “You said YES didn’t you Prater? You didn’t open this door, God did. You need to walk through it!”
Monday I called Lysa TerKeurst. I said, “I want to make sure I’m in step with whatever the ministry is doing.”
She said, “Oh my sweet Luann, this is an answer to prayer! We have been asking God to open new doors for our speakers and writers that only He could open. Walk through it my friend.”
You gals sure seem like you have a blast serving Jesus. Tell me one thing you love about each of the women you lead with at EC.
Only one?? I love that I serve with women who understand the power of prayer in our every day lives. We begin each day with prayer individually and corporately.
What opportunities and resources do you provide for women who connect with the cafe’?
What is your greatest desire for the women you meet through this ministry?
To know they can sit around the table with us any time and find a listening ear, loving arms and praying hearts who not only share life, but direct them to the giver of life, Jesus Christ.

I’m in!
I’m in, every chance I get….Thanks so much!
I’m in. :)
My favorite place to read the Bible is wherever I can concentrate!
My favorite place is curled up in my recliner with a blanket, a cup of tea, and a cat. :)
Cuddled up on the couch with my daughter and hubby!
I’m in! But I do have a moment to share where I read my Bible each morning at 4:45am. In the comfort of my living room recliner with my books in a basket by my feet and my cup of coffee on the table within arms reach. The recliner is right beside our sliding glass door where you can hear the chirping of the birds and see the day turn from dark to light with the sunrise.
I have “my corner” of the couch, complete with indentations to show that it is the most used seat in the house!
Anyplace!! I keep one in my car when I’m waiting on kids, husband, or anyone else. I keep one on my nightstand to read when I get a chance to get to bed at a decent time. And I keep my downstairs one on the table by the couch where I can curl up in the wee morning hours when the children are still sleeping.
I love reading at work. It helps me get throug the day.
I’m in!!!
I love the psalms. They give me hope and affirmation of His love.
In my den’s corner chair next to my “devotion basket” which is filled with my notebook/journal, Bible, pencil box, sticky notes, highliters, index cards (to write down Scriptures for the day!. I don’t even have to think about it– I just plop myself down in my chair and everything I need for a nice visit with my Savior is waiting for me… all I have to bring is my heart!
My favorite place to read and connect with God is sitting outside in nature. However, I typically end up having my bible time laying in bed after the kids and hubby are asleep.
At my breakfast bar!
My favorite place to connect with God is outdoors, I am blessed to live in a beautiful area with a yard full of plants, flowers and trees and a view of a lake. I feel like God’s Word sinks into me differently when I read outside, I love looking around at God’s wonderful creations. I have a variety of birds around the yard and its amazing to think that God watches over all of them, and makes me feel comforted to know that He is doing the same for me as well as His other children!
I like reading my Bible in the lving room in the mornings before my kids get up. It so helps me through the day.
I usually read my love letter from God (the Bible) sitting on my bed surrounded by my comfy pillows.
sitting on my bed!
I like to read my Bible in any spot where I can find some time! I have a great compact Women’s Devotional Bible which is always in my purse. I carry it with me wherever I go and that way anytime I get a free moment, I can read it. I also try to have an actual space of quiet time at home at night on the loveseat in the living room after the wee one is tucked into bed. As a working wife and mom, I take what I can get! :)
In my sewing room…. everyone assumes I’m “on a project” and I guess in way I am!
I have my quiet time with God in the mornings, most often at the kitchen table, with a hot cup of coffee.
I like to get up and read/study at the kitchen table looking out our patio doors before the rest of the family is up. Unfortunately, my daughter has become an early bird and it is difficult to make this work. So many days, I go to our large master bath to have my quiet time. Not ideal, but it is private, quiet and I won’t wake anyone up by creeping down the stairs.
I love reading the Psalms, I feel so loved, encouraged and motivated to press on with my life after reading the psalms. I told my daughter, when I am old and can no longer read independently, please come and see me and read the psalms to me, she agreed! :-)
Blessings,
Susan
