Today we have a gal who keeps our Proverbs 31 office running smoothly. Samantha Reed!
Samantha listens to Christmas music year round and could meander Christmas tree farms for hours. She wishes you a very Merry Christmas and hopes youâll join her as she spreads cheer year round at www.samanthareed.org.
Her post:
The nine foot wonder scooped up our attention. Such a thing of beauty with a price tag double our budget. As we meandered passed by this gorgeous tree, we couldnât help overhear their conversation.
âI want the tallest, largest tree!â In case her husband didnât hear, she raised her voice a few decibels each time she reiterated her desire. Her kids joined in; their petitions echoed across the tree lot. âWe want the biggest tree! We want the biggest tree!â
Of course they wanted that magnificent tree. It was glorious; perfectly round with no missing limbs. I could all but see her visions of it illuminating her home, dazzling from floor to ceiling.
But that tree was meant to nestle in another home.
Our family has chosen our Christmas tree from the same lot for over a decade. The sweet fellas who own it graciously do all the work. After showing them the meager tree weâd picked out, they cut and loaded it on top our car.
Not until the tree was secure in its stand and upright in our living room did it dawn on us: the grand tree had made its way home with us!
We oohed and aahed and clapped and cheered! Who would have guessed a simple mix-up and three extra feet of a Fraser fir could bring so much delight?
That tree filled our home with glowing delight for one month. But the joy of unexpectedly receiving something lovely and desired has lived in our memories.
We re-tell this story each year. It was a small treat in the grand scheme of things, but a sweet treat nonetheless. I pray this season holds several unexpected, grace-filled surprises for you too.
Samantha is so happy to gift this homemade wreath.
And guess what it is made from?
Coffee filters!!
Sheâll purchase a ribbon of your color choice to hang it from.
To enter to win this creative, handmade wreath, leave us a comment answering this:
What is hanging on your front door?
I have a handmade colonial swag with a pineapple, oranges, apples, lemons and limes that my daughter and I made in 1996. First time I let her use a glue gun. :-)
And you?
If you are in a hurry (headed out to buy a wreath, perhaps?) just say, “Deck the halls!”
See you tomorrow!
Your colonial sway sounds lovely; I wish you had posted a pic of that one too. Unfortunately we never get around to putting something on our door. About the time I think about it, we’re tight with cash so don’t really prioritize that. Plus I’m the furthest from being a crafty person.
Gorgeous wreath!! I have a wreath on my door too.
Not a thing on our front door : ( The wreath is lovely.
Deck the halls, love the wreath!
Deck the halls!
Sadly nothing, we’re not allowed to hang anything outside at our apartment complex. I would hang the wreath inside above our fireplace tho! ;)
Nothing hangs from my front door but next to my door is a painted wooden penguin wreath holder and wreath that my dad cut out and my mom painted for me years ago.
I don’t have anything hanging on my front door right now. We put a monogram letter of our last name on the glass storm door and I feel like I can’t hang anything on the outside. I have a “JOY” decoration to hang inside as soon as I figure out where in the world I put the wreath hanger last year…..
A wreath…. nothing fancy….but quaint, none the less…. :)
A beautiful Christmas wreath with a snowman at the bottom and a ribbon on top.
My husband’s sister makes beautiful evergreen wreaths and that is always what we have hanging on our front door!
Nothing at the moment, but soon there will be bells made from grapevines…or if I win it will be Samantha’s wreath!
My door is bare!

DECK THE HALLS
a wreath of greenery, pinecones and berries.
Hanging on my door is a wreath of evergreen and roses entwined with red velvet ribbon that is edged in gold– it was a present several years ago, and I still treasure it! Around the door is a lighted garland with little red velvet bows….
