How Big is Your “But”?–Made to Crave Weekend Giveaway–Times 5!!!!!!

Do you have a big “but”?

No, I don’t mean as in the one you try to wriggle into your skinny jeans each morning.

I mean a big “but”, as in an excuse, a crutch, a reason not to tackle something you know you should.

Last year, while searching for a video clip as part of my church’s Creative Arts Team, I came across a hilarious video about some of the big “buts” we all have when it comes to our walk with God.

Click here if you want to catch this convicting, yet humorous three minute clip. (Be sure to come back for the big “but” giveaway.)

I am convinced (because I’ve seen it in my own life) that one of the biggest areas where we pull out our big “buts” is when it comes to our eating and exercising habits (or lack thereof!)

My friend and ministry partner Lysa TerKeurst, author of the New York Times bestseller Made to Crave and its awesome companion products, is hosting a free webcast this coming Monday , February 20th on our big “buts”. Her book helps you satisfy your deepest desire with God, not food. She says this about the webcast:

We all face obstacles too big to overcome yet some find victory while others live in defeat. Could the difference be our buts?

Learn how to turn your “but I…”excuses into “but God…” exclamations with every obstacle you face!  If you’ve ever struggled to overcome an area of defeat in your life, this 30 minute Biblical teaching will give you an amazing fresh start.

In anticipation of this webcast, today Lysa is allowing me to give away five—yes FIVE!!!!–copies of the Made to Crave 6 week teaching dvd along with a participant’s guide workbook for each.

This teaching series can be done alone or with a group and it is sure to arm you with some determination to get over your big “but”, whatever it may be.

I did this study at my church last winter with a group of 27 gals from many churches and walks of life. You will LOVE it!!!

Now, in order to be entered, simply leave a comment here with what your biggest “but” is when it comes to eating healthy, moving more or placing something (or someone!) else before your relationship with God.

I’ll bare my “but” and go first…..

“But, I am sick and tired of fighting to get to (or sometimes stay at) a healthy weight. It isn’t fair some women seem to eat whatever they want and still be naturally thin. Now, hand over the cheesecake. I am depressed!”

OK–

Now show us your big “but”! Winners announced Monday.

NOTE: If you want to sign up for this free webcast, head over to Lysa’s site and do so in the sidebar.

  1. My biggest buts to eating healthy are that it is too expensive to eat healthy, I don’t like the veggies at the least expensive store in my area and I have bee just plain lazy. BUT I have been participating in a Made to Crave Bible study and my buts are gradually falling away. I would love to win this to share with a friend that I think would really benefit from the study. I would be able to view the DVD with her and guide her through the study. Also, I could use the DVD anytime I might need to re-group and get back on track, if and when, that becomes necessary!!

  2. But I’m in a hurry. But this will make me feel better. But it doesn’t matter what I eat, I won’t lose weight anyway. But I’m tired. But this one time won’t make a difference in my calorie intake. But my family won’t eat the good stuff. Blah, blah, blah. Too many excuses.

  3. But I just don’t have time. Or but I’m so tired. I apply it to many areas of my life, including but not limited to eating, exercising, and bible study homework.

  4. But I dont feel like eating healthy today. I’e been so obedient.. God will understand, and then I eat whatever I want and find myself defeated and wondering how I will get back on track. I have been foolish and made a series of bad choices. Now I am very weak.

  5. But, I take care of small children all day. By the time I feed them healthy foods I just want to sit and eat a cookie, rather than a salad (or something equally healthy) and not go work out.

  6. I would love to win this. I went through the made to crave sessions last year with a group of ladies from our church. It was awesome. I still struggle every day but each day I have been making better choices.

  7. BUT it takes too much work to cook something healthy when the junk food is easier to grab.
BUT I’m too tired to exercise and I don’t think it would help much anyway.

  8. But, by the time I get me and my kids home to cook dinner, it is almost their bedtime. Eat n Park is so much easier and no dishes… Oh, How I want homemade meals though…

  9. But…I never can find the time to go workout and if I do something has to “give” (laundry, cleaning, etc.). Sometimes I feel discouraged that I just can’t “do it all.”

  10. BUT I just struggle all the time with loosing weight and keeping it off. BUT I dont understand what I am reading and how it applies to me. BUT I just cant seem to be consistent and stick with anything

  11. But it tastes so good
    But I’ll start on Monday
But I’m too tired to exercise
But I’m too busy to exercise
But I’m too busy to eat right
But I don’t have time to cook
BUT! I’ve focused on craving God and I’ve lost 15 lbs. since Jan. 1 — no excuses!

  12. But, I am too busy right now to eat three meals a day, that is why I end up snacking in between meals. But I don’t have time to exercise even though I know I can’t live without it.

  13. But I need to do this first. (read emails, balance checkbook, cook dinner, go to a ballgame, etc.)
But I don’t have the energy today. (I know exercising would give me energy)
But I will exercise when I feel better. (I know I would feel better after I exercise)
Why is it that we know how good exercising is for us, we still put it off. Somedays I have the same struggle spending time with God. I squeeze Him out and give Him my left over time, knowing that if I seek Him early and often things would be much better.

  14. I think the hardest thing for me is motivation and being accountable. At work right now they are having a biggest loser challenge and we are in week 3 and I have gained each week so far. So I need to get motivated and stop making excuses. thanks for the opportunity to be able to win this teaching series. blessings

  15. But the potato chips I’m having for breakfast as I type this are justified – I was at the ER with my 8 year old and then had to wake her up every two hours all night. I’m tired, the chips are the “low-cal” kind from Trader’s and I deserve it! Wii Fit today? Not a chance!

There’s always a new “but” waiting for me each day.
