Can I Get Your Feedback, Friend?

Two quick housekeeping items. Then I have a favor to ask you.

First, I’m over at Jennifer Rothschild’s Women’s Ministry Net today with a quick video teaching on what in the world “glorify God” actually means in the Bible. Click here to watch.

Secondly, I’m happy to announce the winner of Jeff Goin’s book The In-Between. She is Crystal Storms. {Congrats Crystal! Send your mailing address to my intern Haley at [email protected] and be sure to tell her what it is you won!}

Now, the favor.

Banner_KarensGals1I’m taking the next three weeks or so off of blogging to pull back, refocus and refuel. I have been watching/pondering/praying and asking God to show me where he wants me to spend my time doing online ministry.

I go out and speak about one weekend a month {minus the summer usually} and I write books. I’ve carefully carved out time to be able to do those without it infringing upon being a wife and mom. {And often my family gets to travel with me for some family fun}

When it comes to my time online, however, I am feeling torn. For over five years I have been attempting to blog 3-5 days per week. This all started BEFORE the influx of other social media ways to connect with people {Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram} Now, I might spend up to an hour or so crafting a blog post and get a moderate response. Or, I might spend 15 minutes making a graphic with a Bible verse or a quote from one of my books or spend even less time on a Facebook post. These I will get a much bigger response on. And what I get the MOST feedback on? My Proverbs 31 devotions.

Soooooo, I am unplugging to figure all of this out. {And not to worry. I’m not going to stop blogging all-together, just adjusting how often} But I could use YOUR help.

I’ll be sending out a short feedback survey to my Go-To Girls to see what they think. This is a group of women whom I occasionally email. I ask for feedback on a project or ask for prayer . Or I just connect with them and give them a recipe or idea I don’t post publicly here. If you want to become a Go-to Girl you can join us by clicking here.

I’ll be sending the survey in the next day or two. I want to know where it is that you congregate online. What you like about my blog. What you don’t like…{kindly please} and what topics you’d like  to see addressed.

Then, I’ll be back the week of September 23 to let you know what I’ve decided based on your feedback.

Please consider joining us by clicking on the image above of my sweet assistant/friend Kim and me. :)

See you the week of September 23.

  1. Greetings from California! I’m bored to death at work so I
    decided to browse your blog on my iphone during lunch break.
    I really like the info you provide here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home.
    I’m surprised at how quick your blog loaded on my mobile ..
    I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyhow, great blog!

  2. Just watched the video – very helpful! That was my first video to watch with you. You are adorable, really. Thank you. Also filled out your survey, hope that’s helpful to you . Thank you for all you do!

  3. I’m running behind on reading my devotion emails so here it is, almost your ‘return’ date and I’m just finding out about it :) I do enjoy the Proverbs 31 devotions and also your emails. I’m not involved with any social media (surely I’m not the only one!) and appreciate the email method of receiving your devotions & thoughts. Thanks for all you do!

  4. Clicked on the Proverbs 31 link to you blog to search for the Ten Ideas to Teach Your Kids (and You) Generosity and just wanted to tell you the picture of the seven jars of jam/jelly is beautiful (I assume peach?). Enjoy your time of direction-seeking! Now to find those Generosity Ideas!

  5. Hi, I just found your website by a Pinterest “pin”. I saw a pin on “Let it Go”. It resonated with me very much. Asked for your 5 day devotional, and man, the first one could of been my life! I have 6 children, and that means there are 8 of us in the house. I can never keep ,my house in order. I do have Facebook, and just started Pinterest a couple of months ago. They all have their good and bad points. I will pray for God to show you His will in this time of searching.

  6. I just signed up for your blog last week. Have enjoyed the few I have received. Looking forward to your return. However I also spend time on FB so will look for you there.

  7. Praying you are able to find that balance and I admire that you are seeking what is best for you and your family. I find it frustrating that in order to be a successful writer or speaker (seems to me anyway) one HAS to use every bit of social networking out there. LOVE that you are looking to God to see what is best. Thanks for that example.

  8. Karen, What a great idea. I too am in the process of redoing my program. With two daughters who started college away (as Juniors that thought they knew it all). I have just my son at home and the three girls are gone. I lost my job July 2nd and it is time to find out what I want to do with myself, my blog, my time to glorify God. (Timely word on the video)
    I Corinthians 10:31 was the verse I gave the girls this week:
    “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
    I will pray for your adjustment as I am prayerfully considering my own.

  9. Karen – I just signed up to be a Go-To Gal. I love getting a blog email from you or a Proverbs 31 devotional sent to my inbox. I had the pleasure of hearing you speak at the Women Living Conference in August and love your style! I don’t follow social media as I see it as a big time consumer for me, so blogs/devos are the way to go for me.
    I wish you a blessed rest and that you come back refreshed and rejuvinated. Take care!

  10. Karen, I normally don’t comment but I enjoy your emails. As a matter of fact my preference is emails over all the other social media. I find I can pick and choose my time to read emails whereas in Facebook I end up wasting time without realizing it. Enjoy your time off!

  11. You will be missed, but I totally get that you need to “Be Still…” on this decision! How many different ways does God have to tell us to stop long enough to listen? In today’s frenzied world, unplugging is the only way to do that.

    Blessings~ Ellen

  12. I just listened to your video at Women’s Ministry Net. I just wanted you to know, you are such an awesome speaker. you are so easy and fun to listen to. You are very insightful, keep up your good work. God bless you.
