Oh my goodness! I absolutely love this sample! Gotta get the book!
I love the book
OH MY….I can relate to chapter one so well. I have let words leave my mouth that I so wish I could take back. I hate how my words have hurt those around me that I love and cherish so much. I have learned to keep my mouth shut more often and my ears open more often. It is amazing at what you can hear! :) Can’t wait for the study.
I love this, I know now I have to get a copy!
Wow! Great chapter! I definitely need this book and I am going to buy it for a few of my friends as well. This was a nice reality smack! Keep up the awesome work!
Very excited to read the whole thing, but beyond that, hopeful for lasting change for this “besetting sin.”
Love the chapter. Makes me want to read the book and do the study even more. Have to figure out if there is time to add another study to my life but am going to try. Wondering what the time commitment each day/week will be for the study.
Well, I need this book. That first chapter was great. I have been avoiding getting the book because I kept thinking I didn’t have an issue … but, I am sure that I do.
I love books where i can be fly on the wall sort of reader.like putting myself into-the scene. cant wait to finish reading
I “had” a friend that seemed to always get on my last nerve whenever she called because I could just tell by listening to her tone of voice that she was calling to report a “problem”. The last “problem” she called to complain about was that while saying a quick and brief “thanks” for paying her a nice Christmas bonus she lunged right into telling me that I had underpaid her $40.00. I was so angry listening to her go on about the $40.00 -afterall, I had just paid her a Christmas bonus of $100.00 plus her monthly check but she seemed to discount the Christmas Bonus entirely. She was so focused on the $40.00 I had “shorted” her. So the longer she talked the madder I got. I did manage to say during the conversation that I had discovered my oversight and had attempted to cancel the first check but was unable to cancel it so I had issued another check to her for the $40.00 that she would be getting the very same day as her call to me. The call ended and she followed up by sending me a text message about the $40.00 and then some very harsh words spewed out of my fingertips as I texted her back to say that I no longer needed her services. So ended a friendship of more than 25 years. I miss her more than she probably misses me. I need to learn to keep it zipped! and I am looking foward to this OBS.
“Sometimes I just talk too much. Or I repeated the words of others, which I should not have. Other times I have tried to say the right thing, but it came out the wrong way. Or I have said the right thing but in the presence of the wrong people or at the wrong time.”
This is so me! I blurt first and think later. Trying to work on that!
You’ve made the advice in the book of James come to life! I love the prayer at the end of the chapter too. What a great idea to pray it daily. I thought it was so interesting the way you described our words come from our mind and heart first. Did you ever ask “Janet” to forgive you? Were you ever able to restore the relationship with her?
enjoyed the first chapter. Anxious to dig into the book!
I have to admit, this book will help a lot of us!! You are so gifted in sharing your heart.
A timely and wise book for me, who speaks first and thinks later!
I am so eager to read the book! I have it waiting for me as soon as I finish book I am reading that was a Christmas gift from my family so I cannot set it aside! :-)
I’m hooked! Definitely need a copy. Sometimes I just don’t keep my mouth shut when I need to!
Wonderful first chapter! Something we all need to be reminded of. I have a bracelet that I wear that says THINK. It reminds me to ask myself before I speak- Is it TRUE, is it HONEST, is it INSPIRING, is it NECESSARY, is it KIND. Remember to speak only words that build others up, not tear them down.
Blessings!
Oh, I hope I get some money for my birthday so that I can buy this book and read it. My finances will not allow me to get a copy right now, no matter how much I need it. I find myself using angry words more than happy words especially with my family. I don’t have a problem online because I use facebook to let my family and out of town friends see pictures of the kids and know about what’s going on with the famil. But oh, when it comes to running my mouth I have it. I am so excited about this book. And that sample just made me want more.
So many times I have let my mouth run and have faced the consequences of not keeping it shut. You can fix a physical hurt, but when your words hurt someone it is so hard to fix. And they may never forget it.
I need this book. I went to my local B&N and they didn’t have it!
Hi Karen, as a member of your Keep It Shut Street team, I have read, highlighted, underlined and taken many notes. I’ve had many ouch and aha moments! I am so glad I had a pre-release copy, there was lots of room on the pages to take notes! Love this book and you so much!
I am also a P31 OBS Team Leader so I am really looking forward to the OBS!!
Would love to have the book and participate in the bible study. My sister is partcipating also and has asked me to join in, however, I am about 25 miles from a book store, and have not been able to find it in Walmart :( Maybe I will make it to the bookstore one day ;) Downside of living in the country

I LOVE your book and P31 OBS!!!!! I love the statement “Our words are powerful and they have consequences.” This is OH SO TRUE!! I’m trying to teach this to my children as well!!
Thank you so much for writing this book!!!!

Wow awesome first chapter. It is one thing to read something and another to apply it. But the way you worded the first chapter really struck a chord. Looking forward to reading more………
