  1. As well as sweet honey is health building thanks for the reminder that our words can bring healing.

  2. I loved this devotion! I truly want my words to be sweet as honey and healing! Thank you for reminding me! I LOVE using honey for so many things! Cooking, in my tea, on yogurt and fruit, and in beauty treatments!

  3. The Proverbs quote goes well with my Lenten “theme” of kindness. Thank you for sharing.
Also, I love honey and use it pretty much every day. I was blessed with a jar of Tupelo honey once, and it was especially delicious.

  4. This was a good reminder today. Because of some recent events, my sleep in way off & I’ve kept a headache because of it. This has made my internal editor temporarily out of commission. My words have been more on the snark than sweet side as a result…..and not a result I’m proud of. I told (yelled) at my spouse yesterday on the way home from church when I was commenting on other drivers on the road (can you say ‘road raging’?) that this is the stuff that goes through my head all.the.time. that the rest of them don’t have to deal with because it gets stopped before it goes from my brain to out my mouth. Maybe I need to go hunt down some local beekeepers to get some local honey to help with spring allergies as well as sweeten up my words & (re)actions. Lord, give me grace! :\

  5. I love your opening to the devotional; I so enjoy doing word studies. I’m always looking for new ways to incorporate those into bible studies I lead for my women’s group. Having the correct and grace filled speech is hard when trying to lead. That’s why I appreciate this post. Verbally, I don’t ever feel as though I’m getting across my intention correctly, and that can be frustrating as a leader/pastor’s wife. Great post Karen :)

  6. My words have been so bitter lately , driven by a family issue. I need to make them sweet again. Thank you for this reminder!

  7. This is a great analogy and a good reminder! I need it daily! Thanks so much. I would really like to read you new book!

  8. Honey has been used for years from generation to generation and is great for food and nurturing you as whole.

  9. Thanks for this reminder to keep my words sweet, to drink more of God’s Word, and to spen more time with the Son.

  10. Wow! Thanks for the reminder. I really needed to read this today. I’d like to say my speech sweet and soothing like honey but unfortunately it’s not always. More often than not it’s bitter and snarky. I am trying to spend more time with the Son every day so hopefully one day soon my speech will reflect this and soon will be sweet as a honeycomb. ????

  11. I would love for encouraging, godly words to come out of my mouth, but unfortunately, my words are a lot more negative that kindly – especially when speaking to/with my husband. I am a Christian, but lately my words have not shown that. HELP!

  12. Thanks for the reminder. Don’t say something permanently painful when you are temporarily ticked off.

  13. I love honey – especially in tea. Burts bees products are really great too. Love your posts and would love to win as I definitely need a filter and need to learn to keep it shut

  14. I love honey. It was always on my grandma table and it still is a stable in my dad’s household. This tea looks amazing! I am going to have to grab a box to add to my tea collection!

  15. Thank you for the “sweet” devotional ;). This is one of my favorite verses this year. I’ve been wanting to create a printable to place in my living room because all of us need to be reminded of it on a regular basis especially with myself (menopausal mom), my son (menopausal teen) and my daughter (menopausal tween). It’s all sorts of crazy around here sometimes!
Im sure your book is full of sound wisdom that I could use and share with my children as well. Thanks so much!

  16. Thank you for this clever giveaway! I found it through the daily devotional for proverbs 31 ministries- and it is very timely. Humans, our weaknesses are our common thread. As a young mom, holding back my emotion, so that it doesn’t fuel my speech is still something I am trying to figure out. I am far from mastery. Like honey, it takes the right conditions and should flow smoothly. I am eagerly waiting for my library to get your book! Can’t wait to read more after just reading the devotional. I learned how to keep my words and also provided a wonderful opportunity for my young son to see that a balanced life (sports, faith, and hobbies, or even income-earning tasks) do exist! I’m so curious to see if you write about the sweetness of honey and the angst of bee stings. The tongue is truly a double edged sword indeed! Blessings to you and your gift of writing- and sharing.

  17. Wow, these were exactly the words the Lord wanted me to read this morning. I speak with bitter and snarky words far too often, frequently under the guise of humor or playful sarcasm. My prayer is that God will help me to continually remember to guard my speech (and my thoughts) so that I honor and glorify Him rather than gratify my own subconscious need to belittle or wound others. And honey? Who doesn’t love honey? :)

  18. I used to love those little crunchy/chewy candies made with honey and sesame seeds…haven’t had those in forever!

  19. My speech towards my children had not been very gracious in the 4 months since my 4th was born. I believe I’ve traded time with the Son for time with my son. Tomorrow it’s baby AND Bible.

  20. I love the honey/bee analogy and learning some new things about bees. I couldn’t help but think too that bees have stingers, and, like bees, we too have stingers when we use our tongues to hurt.

  21. What a nice giveaway! our book sounds good!
Yes, I love honey. I use it in my coffee and tea instead of sugar. I use it for cough suppression and in baking whenever I can.
