Two Fabulous Fall Challenges {One for Your Home~One For Your Health}

Don’t miss the giveaway near the end of this post!

I wanted to let you know about two fabulous challenges that are going on this fall. Both of them are being done by good friends of mine who are bloggers. We hang out online often, but only in person once a year or so. Here are some pics of our blogger gang at our retreat last summer at a villa in Ohio.

The first challenge is for your home. Courtney from Women Living Well does an encouraging challenge each year called Making Your Home a Haven.

The 6th Annual Making a Home a Haven Challenge at WomenLivingWell.org

Each week she will give you one practical tip and one spiritual tip that you can do to create a haven in your home.

And the second one is for your physical and spiritual health. My friend Clare Smith is doing a Living and Active health and fitness challenge over at her place.

Her goal and passion is to get you into God’s Word which holds the keys to getting us Living & Active! There is both a body and soul element to this challenge.

  1. I could use the Living & Active challenge. I am having a hard time caring about my diabetes right now. I started strong but I’ve hit a wall in the last year and am feeling hopeless and unmotivated.

  2. The living and active challenge! I live with several chronic illnesses and I need encouragement to keep moving! My diet is very restrictive including hardly no fresh fruit and vegetables. I know I will have to modify for me but am looking forward to the connection and especially the spiritual.

  3. The Women Living Well Fall challenge interests me. Right now I’m going thru a hard time in my home and marriage. I want to make my home a haven. I want to do all I can to win the heart of my husband and family.

  4. I will be participating in both challenges. I already have Courtney’s book but would love to have Clare’s guide. Craving the opportunity to reconnect with The Lord.

  5. I’m SO interested in the active challenge, because I really want to show myself and other women, too, that shifting hormones and advancing age create new health challenges for us “50 and over hot and flashies” BUT….with God’s encouragement and our own desire to overcome, we CAN improve our current physical state (shrink physically as we grow spiritually? WOOT! That’s it!)
Thanks so much for the chance to win.
    Blessings!

  6. I am interested in the fitness challenge. Four years ago I married a man with muscular dystrophy. He required a lot of care as he could not move his arms or legs by himself.I love him very much but the stress of working full-time and caring for him soon became overwhelming. Unfortunately I turned to food for comfort. Not only did I gain weight, but I was putting something above God in my life.I spent three years trying to break free from that bad habit. This past January I finally said enough is enough and took steps to overcome it. I finally shared with my husband but I had struggling with by myself. My husbands support and accountability made a huge difference. I was seeing physical results as well as feeling better about myself. Then this past February my husband passed away suddenly. It has been eight months now and I am still going through the grieving process. However, I am ready to get back on track and experience the success I did at the beginning of this year. It has been a challenge to do it without my husband there to encourage me. This devotional me pay what I need to help me see my food struggle in light of Gods word.

    1. Aw, Heather. I just read your comment and I want to say that I prayed for you. God is with you as you grieve, and know that He knows what it’s like to be us.

  7. I am very interested in the Living and Active guide. In ready for the challenge and this would help me get jump-started!

  8. I am ready for the challenge. The exercise part shouldn’t be too hard although these past couple months that has slipped into neutral. For the home challenge, this is the first I have heard of it so am excited to begin that and truly need it. There are rooms that are beyond hope, the garage as a skunk ran in but it’s so packed full of stuff we have no clue if it’s in there still or not. The basement and spare bedroom need a ton of work too. Major overhaul needed here for sure!

  9. I am interested in the Women Living Well book. My husband and I have been married for right at 8 years. We have been through a lot in that time. We have both been through at least 2 job losses each, almost lost our home on 3 occasions, and dealt with more medical issues with our children (2 from his previous marriage, and 2 from mine) than we can count. Through all of this we have remained a family, continuously remained faithful to God, and stayed active in our church. This has been a struggle, our finances taking the biggest hit. I want so much to read this book, but at this time we just simply can’t afford the purchase price.

  10. I will be doing BOTH challenges! I love the Home Haven advice last year. I tried all the suggestions & still use some of them. I want to try the second challenge this year. I love the idea of linking the physical growth with spiritual growth. I’ve tried some of Lysa TerKeurst’s suggestions & really enjoyed it!

  11. I’m so excited for the Living and Active Challenge! I love Claire and her heart for people. I wanted to get a guide, but have been short on money lately. It would be awesome to be able to have one!

  12. I just recently moved so the making your home a haven lines up so well- especially since we homeschool :)

The fitness one is perfect since I am trying to find freedom from the scale and gain more from Him and memorizing and strengthening my spiritual walk.

  13. Hitting menopause makes me feel like invasion of the body snatchers. Whatever happened to my body and who took it? I want it back. On that end I would need the living and active challenge. On the other end I am a “nester” when it comes to making our house a home: think LOTS of pillow and baskets. As we call it in our home Country Clutter. But I sometimes ponder ” how spiritual is our home?” I think I could use improvement there. I would gladly use either one of these books!

  14. I’ve have been trying and trying to loose weight since I had my kids 15 years ago to no avail. I am to the point of giving up. I would love the fitness challenge. My issue is mostly busy life and lack of motivation and being constantly tired.

    Thank you for doing this.m

  15. I would love to try the Living & Active Challenge! My friend Julie and I have been meeting at our local YMCA for a couple of months and I feel like this challenge would help push me toward getting even more active.

  16. The Living and Active Challenge guide is for me because the encouragement would be wonderful!! Thanks for the giveaway!!

  17. I saw the living and active challenge on Facebook too! Seeing it here today too makes me think that I need to join it. I would love to havea copy of the guide!

  18. I choose “Making Your Home a Haven” because there has been so much turmoil in my life. Praying over my home and using the candle as a visual of God’s peace has made a big difference in our house in just one day ! Thanking God and praising Him that He is in control.

  19. I am going to do the Home/Haven Challenge. I want to make my home a haven for the members of my family. I need this type of challenge to get me motivated!!
