Our culture is self-obsessed – in our schedules, relationships, and especially online. (Can you say selfie?) But in this near-narcissism, people are less content than in decades past. Why? Because we forgot the joy that comes from putting others first. Doing so requires us to live alert, listening for “heart drops,” hints from those in our lives who need a helping hand or a generous dose of encouragement. Living alert lifts our own spirits, showing us that blessing others blesses us even more.
Listen, Love, Repeat offers biblical teaching and suggests doable actions that are simple, heart-tugging, sentimental, even sneaky and hilarious. This message:
• Presents scriptural examples of those who lived alert, including Jesus, who noticed those who least expected to be seen.

In my Proverbs 31 devotion, I mentioned two items I have in my kitchen–my big red cast iron soup pot and my “scatter kindness” sign.
Well, I am giving away one soup pot, three signs, and 5 copies of the book–that means nine different winners!

And now, I’m sharing what often goes in my big red pot–my recipe for cheesy corn chowder!
Cheesy Ham & Corn Chowder
Hands-down my family’s favorite soup. I make it at least two or three times a month and when I do, their friends come running!
In a large pot combine:
4 cups chicken stock (or 4 cups water with bouillon cubes to taste)
4 cups chopped, peeled Yukon Gold potatoes
1 chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
Cook, covered, over medium heat for 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Then add:
3 tablespoons butter
1–2 cups finely chopped leftover ham
1 1/2 cups leftover corn
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese
Just before serving, add:
8 ounces sour cream.
Thin with a little milk if needed. Stir well. Serves 8–10.

“Listen. Love. Repeat.” has been on my mind much of the last week especially after I watched the video of Karen & Ann Voskamp share about their books. I ended up purchasing both books to go in a gift exchange my family has for Christmas. Also bought a box of Lavender Earl Grey tea for the reader to enjoy sipping as they dive in to the book. I chose the first picture of the mixer and boll and eggs and shared it on Facebook. The quote on this pic really resonated with me. I want God to use my ordinary life for His extraordinary purposes.
I shared the first photo “Use your ordinary life for God’s extraordinary purposes” on my facebook page. This quote really spoke to me because I constantly struggle with not feeling good enough or worthy enough to do work for God.

I love “hearing a heart drop is an art”! We often don’t take time to pursue this art in our fast paced lives and people are left lonely and wanting. Christ through us is the remedy!
