Hi guys, it’s Summer!
Okay, so today I wanted to talk to you about something that has absolutely changed our lives! And we believe for the better.
About a year and a half ago, my family and I began quite the process to simplify and downsize our life in order to better live a life of intention and worship. God had been working in our hearts with this for quite some time, and while we had already begun to alter things here and there, we realized it was time for even bigger and better changes. (more about all this in the video!) One of those being, moving from our 2400 sq. ft. 4 bedroom house in the suburbs to a 900 sq ft 2 bedroom home near the beach.
A family of four, in a tiny little two bedroom house. What a fun adventure!
Literally, in less than 3 weeks, we sold or donated about 75% of our belongings, packed up and set off to explore new adventures in simplified living!
That was a little more than a year ago, and as life would have it, these last few months have provided us even more opportunities (or in other words — challenges) where God has showed us even more areas of our lives that needed a little pruning. Things are looking different, but feeling better, and because we’ve received so many questions on how we downsized and why (even recently was asked to give a talk on this for a MOPS group), I thought it would be fun to share a little of where we’ve been, what we’ve been learning, and where God has us right now.

Also, because life changes, and God continues to work, I also wanted to share my latest (and more personal) update on even more changes I’ve personally been making as well. It’s most definitely a lifelong process, but one I love seeing God work through!

She is refreshingly open about her mommy meltdowns (she has 2 children, but one is strong willed, so it’s more like 4), her faith, and her obsession with bargain shopping and makeup/skincare hauls. But whether it’s through writing, speaking, or the missions work she & her family do, Summer’s greatest passion is connecting with others. Connect with Summer on her blog, on Instagram, or on Youtube.
