It’s Day 2 of 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways!
If you’re just joining in, be sure to catch up by starting at Day One here.
My guest today for day two is a new friend, Valerie Woerner. Here she is with her favorite part of Christmas and a great giveaway!

Slowing down, especially at the holidays, is hard for me but I’m also a huge introvert. One of my favorite things about this season is the stillness that the Christmas Eve service brings to my soul. Any last minute hustling and bustling is gone and I feel like every distraction that competes with my attention during the season suddenly stops at the door. Singing “O Holy Night” by candlelight is one of the most “present” moments of my year and where I find myself most in awe of the fact that Jesus’s birth is not just a story in a book but the turning point in history. What a wonderful gift God gave to us!
Now, tell us in the comment section on this post what brings stillness to your soul during the flurry of frenzy at Christmastime.
Have a holy and hushed holiday season,
Love,
Valerie

It amazes me how the Christmas spirit brings people together and just reminds me so much of Gods love for us. He’s the reason for the season??
Love your studies Karen. Thanks for the giveaway
I love Christmas lights! To just sit on the couch with a cup of coffee and some Christmas music. It’s the best!!
Would love to win this!
I love reading The Women of Christmas by Liz Curtis Higgs.
Sometimes- just listening to praise and worship music helps me to refocus on what is really important instead of feeling so rushed..
I could definetly use a journal some days when I need to get my thoughts together!!
What brings stillness to me is waking up 20 minutes before my kids do and reading my Advent Devotional in the peace and quiet of the house!
Watching snow fall or sitting by the Christmas tree
My quiet time reading devotionals and getting my quiet time with God.
When I sit with a cup of something warm and just look at the Christmas tree with the lights off.
I definitely struggle wth slowing down during the season, but this year I have had to slow down, due to having a new born. I find playing focused Christmas music and lighting a candle reminds me to stop and remember. I love the season and strive to continue to better learn to “be still and know” in the Christmas season.
Oh my goodness! Love writing my prayers, always looking for great journals to write in!
Quiet time first thing in the morning and prayer before bed.
I love the late-night quiet when the fire is dying down and I’m alone by the Christmas tree. It’s a great time to think and pray.
I love to read scripture references and meanings of the Christmas Carols. Once I do that, I can look at the songs in a new perspective.
I love to bake gifts for others. I get in the zone and chill, love to cook and bake.
Seeing other do good deeds in order to help others during this time of year!
I will not miss my nightly Devotional reading no matter how late it gets. It’s a quiet & special way to end the night
A day of Christmas movies with my family during a snow day. Elf, Frosty, Rudolph, Scrooge, etc. Even though my daughters are 19 and 24 we still love to watch them together. Such a Blessing!!
Sitting quietly first thing in the morning with coffee., a devotional reading with the tree lit
Christmas music is my go to, the calming songs like Silent Night or The First Noel.
Having the peace of Jesus in my heart on the holiday that celebrates His birth brings a wonderfully calm stillness to my soul. Praying with family does too. The prayer journal looks great!
A fluffy snowfall, Christmas lights on the tree and silence.
I have been trying to focus on keeping the sabbath as a day of rest. I keep Sunday afternoons for relaxing and am surprised at how much more I get done during the week!
