Day 6 of 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways (with Katy McCown)

Winners announced here! Congratulations!

*Give Away has Ended*

It’s Day 6 of 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways!

If you’re just joining in, catch up with us by starting at Day One here.

11th Annual 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways (2018) December 4-15 at karenehman.com.

My guest for today is my friend and Proverbs 31 teammate Katy McCown, wife to NFL quarterback, Luke McCown.

My family and I have moved a lot over the years so finding traditions hasn’t come easy. But several years ago we started getting live Christmas trees, and it’s become one tradition we look forward to every year. The last few years we’ve actually gone to a Christmas tree farm and cut down our own tree. It involves a sled for the tree and a saw (with 6 kids we have to be very strategic about who holds the saw). There’s also a petting zoo at the farm and for the last 2 years some of my children have tried to convince me we need a baby pig. I’ve remained a very solid “no” on the matter. We’ve dodged ant beds and stepped in mud puddles, but even with all of the chaos it’s been a fun family tradition that I hope we can do for many years to come!

  1. Always a real tree for us! We get all dressed up in our crazy Christmas clothes and go down the hardware store tree lot and pick out the best one they have! We always turn a few heads while we are there!

  2. Our traditions involve loookimg at Christmas lights and fun family times. On Christmas Eve we spend with my Dad. We decided we wanted non traditional Christmas foods as we will have the next day.

    So we do steaks.

  3. We used to go to a tree farm, & one year when we got off the bus, which was used to take us to the field, there was the perfect tree w a sunbeam shining down on It! My husband wanted to cut it, but rest of us said no bc the hunt for the tree was the fun part. When we coukdnt find the tree we wanted, we decided to go back to the first one, but couldn’t find It! That has now become my hubbys standing joke! The perfect tree is the one w the ray of Sun shining on it!

  4. Everyone in my house is allergic to pine so we have artificial trees. We spend an entire weekend decorating all of the ones we put up (current count is 7)

  5. We’ve never had a real live tree. My husband is allergic. But I think it would be fun to go out and find the perfect one to bring home!

  6. We have an artificial tree. Our one son has asthma so it’s the best option for us. I do love the smell of fresh pine and evergreen.

  7. I had my two oldest children 13 months apart. I say if you do not think God has a sense of humor just tell Him your plans! So we need to laugh too! Thanks for the 12 Days!

  8. I would love to have the smell of a fresh tree in the house, but have 5 kids to clean up after already, I don’t need another thing to remember to water and clean up from. Haha Only fake trees here.
