Day 6 of 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways (with Katy McCown)
Winners announced here! Congratulations!
*Give Away has Ended*
It’s Day 6 of 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways!
If you’re just joining in, catch up with us by starting at Day One here.
My guest for today is my friend and Proverbs 31 teammate Katy McCown, wife to NFL quarterback, Luke McCown.
My family and I have moved a lot over the years so finding traditions hasn’t come easy. But several years ago we started getting live Christmas trees, and it’s become one tradition we look forward to every year. The last few years we’ve actually gone to a Christmas tree farm and cut down our own tree. It involves a sled for the tree and a saw (with 6 kids we have to be very strategic about who holds the saw). There’s also a petting zoo at the farm and for the last 2 years some of my children have tried to convince me we need a baby pig. I’ve remained a very solid “no” on the matter. We’ve dodged ant beds and stepped in mud puddles, but even with all of the chaos it’s been a fun family tradition that I hope we can do for many years to come!

Love that bracelet!
I love everything about this post…she seems like an amazing woman!
We love our Charlie brown trees
We had live trees growing up too. Our children get to enjoy an artificial tree this year.
We did real trees growing up! Love the scent!
We’re thinking of going to a local zoo that does a christmas lights show!
I love fresh trees!!
We have always had a fake tree. Too scared to get a real one!
Thank you for sharing Katy! There is nothing like the smell of a live tree in the house! I remember a year when we couldn’t afford to buy a tree. Our family had been on a wintry walk on the property after a hug snow storm and found part of a tree had blown down… (well, really, a rather large branch… think Charlie Brown … branch!) We dragged that thing home and that was our Christmas tree. I think we loved that more than any other tree we have had. Merry Christmas!
We have missed having a real tree the last 2 years. Hopefully we will be able to get one next year! I love looking for the perfect tree!
We have a fake tree but I’m hoping for a real one next year!
I love getting a tree with my kids. Having a live tree is a must for me, I love the smell and decorating it. There have been years where we were not able to have one because my son was and still is a climber. We have made hand print trees and one year we decided to buy one a few days before Christmas and that tree was the best tree we have every had and it was only 5 dollars :)
Now that my son is older we are able to enjoy have a tree again!
we love getting a live tree when we live in a place that allows them. Some places don’t due to fire hazard.
Due to my allergies, we must always have a fake tree. No mistletoe either.
Fake tree for us, but a real one would be nice to have sometime
We have an artificial tree each year and love putting ornaments on together sharing memories.
Ahhh as a new little family we have been blessed to be able toahve live Christmas trees the last two years. It is such a fun tradition!i hope once out little one is a bit older we can go pick out a tree together!
Love these gifts! And love the tradition your family has! I am definitely thinking my husband and I should start the tradition of getting a real tree with our 2 boys each year!!
I purchase a fresh tree from the boy scout troop! They cut off the bottom so I don’t have to! The smell is amazing!
I’ve started a few traditions with my girls. We read from our Jesus Storybook Bible, we make ornaments for our tree and we host a pancake and pajama party for friends.

Tradition is reading the story of Luke together on Christmas morning ~ we used to have the kids take turns reading. We all loved it.
G-d Bless
Yes- I purchase a real tree from the local boy scout troops and let them cut off the end! Great tradition!
Family traditions are very important , no matter what the ages of your children are. Doesn’t matter what they are as long as they mean something to you. What better tradition than the birth of baby Jesus? Can’t think of a better long standing one than Him. Happy, joyous blessings and Merry Christmas!!
