Day 1 of 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways (with Candace Cameron Bure)

*Give Away has Ended*
Welcome to my 12th annual 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways! Years ago I had an idea that has grown into a fun annual tradition. For 12 days in December I share an idea, recipe, or tip for the holidays and also have a friend of mine offer a fun giveaway for the day.
Entering to win the daily prizes is simple. Each day I will give a “quick question” of the day. Simply answer it in a short comment and you will be entered. Easy!
This year our Grand Prize is worth over $150! It includes a $75 Amazon gift card, and two admission tickets (with meet-and-greet) to a concert with award-winning country music artist, Granger Smith. Want to be entered to win this stellar prize package? Comment each day AND also share each day’s giveaway on the social platform of your choice.

Now, this year for day one, we are kicking off the festivities with the queen of Christmas herself, Candace Cameron Bure. I mean, it just isn’t Christmas without one of her Hallmark Christmas movies, right? To get our series started this year, Candace is gifting one of you with something special from her Dayspring Simply Christmas collection.
But first, here is the idea of the day!
Day 1: The 3 Gift Tradition
When Todd and I became parents over 25 years ago we began the tradition of giving our kids just three gifts for Christmas. Yep…. that is not a typo. I said three. That is all baby Jesus received—remember gold, frankincense and myrrh? In fact, each of them received a gold gift, a frankincense present, and a myrrh package. Here is the concept:
GOLD GIFT
This, like gold, is a highly desired item; precious; maybe even pricey. A big ticket item like a toy, an electronic gadget, tickets to a professional sporting event, or a fancy coffee maker for our adult daughter.
FRANKINCENSE GIFT
Because the real frankincense was burned during prayer and arose heavenward, the gift in this category is something that will draw them closer to God. Perhaps a new Bible, a book series, a leather journal and fancy pen, or tickets to an event or concert.
MYRRH GIFT
This is a burial spice used to cover the whole body. So the myrrh gift does the same thing. It goes on the body. In past years this has been leather boots and a new coat for our daughter, a warm thermal jumpsuit and camo boots for our son who loves to hunt and eat venison, or maybe a favorite professional sports team jersey or pair of tennis shoes a child really wanted.
Since our kids knew the number of items was limited, they didn’t expect oodles of gifts—just three. And we also included them when we shopped for a less-fortunate family we adopted each year. We also took them along when we delivered the gifts to the family. It was good for them to see that we used some of the money we would have spent on more gifts for them to purchase for a family who might not be able to afford any gifts.
The three gift tradition. Try it out this year!
And now, here’s Candace’s fabulous giveaway!

Day 7 with Phylicia Masonheimer
We do not have any specific gift traditions. I love the gold, frankincense, myrrh idea!
We love gifting pictures. So few people take the time to organize and print. The grandparents and great grandparents look forward to a year of memories with them to look at every Christmas!
No specific Christmas gifts given here.
We always give our 3 daughter matching jewerly.
We always put candy in our daughters’ stockings. It’s always candy that is special. This year they will each receive Lindt chocolate balls, 2 of every flavor they make. My husband and I went on date night and picked them out. Our daughters are young adults now so this will make a fun memory all around.
Every year my husband and I buy a new ornament for our Christmas tree! The catch with the ornament is it has to relate to something we did together that year. It can be a character from a movie we saw, a picture of a place we went, etc.
I love Candace & her boldness in sharing her faith! What a great tradition of gift-giving that honors The Reason for the Season.
We always do a stocking for our kids. I always make sure to put some candy in for them!
On Christmas Eve we give the boys pajamas. It started out when they were little as something cute and relaxing to dress our toddlers in for our family gatherings. One year I overheard the boys talking excitedly about what kind of pajamas they would get this year. It warmed my heart so we have kept the tradition each year.
Since 2007 every year we’ve given our children a new ornament. Something that resembles a new like for a new part of their characteristic for that year
Traditional Christmas Candy to my daughters filled in their stockings
We do Christmas jammies every Christmas Eve for our kids!
I typically get my Mom either clothes or jewelry.
The gifts given to Jesus were costly and precious.
We do 3 gifts something we want, need, and something we can eat.
My family and I also do 3 presents.. something we want, need, and either a book or board/card game!
We also do 3 gifts for our kids; something they want, something they need and something to read.
My sister in law and I regularly take turns buying each other mugs! We have found some cool ones!
Christmas Eve , teenaged grandchildren all received box of photos of themselves from birth to present. All enjoyed their box then started swapping with each other. Had so much fun
Christmas ornament with a special picture of us from that year! If you do it every year, your friends/family members/ kids , will have a memory of your relationship growth throughout the years!
We always get everyone something they need, something they want, and a book to read.
I give everyone a new Christmas ornament each year for Christmas
Our family is spread all over the U.S. At 9pm Christmas Eve, we all step outside say a pray for each other and blow angel kisses to those who have left this earth. My specific family unit has a cake and sings “Happy Birthday to Jesus” on Christmas morning.
I buy all my kids (plus daughter in law) Christmas pjs every year. They open them on Christmas Eve and put them on right away.
I usually try to have some home made item for our now adult children. A photo ornament, calendar of the year with key pictures from the year or matching scrapbooks of camping trips, etc.
