Day 1 of 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways (with Candace Cameron Bure)
*Give Away has Ended*
Welcome to my 12th annual 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways! Years ago I had an idea that has grown into a fun annual tradition. For 12 days in December I share an idea, recipe, or tip for the holidays and also have a friend of mine offer a fun giveaway for the day.
Entering to win the daily prizes is simple. Each day I will give a “quick question” of the day. Simply answer it in a short comment and you will be entered. Easy!
This year our Grand Prize is worth over $150! It includes a $75 Amazon gift card, and two admission tickets (with meet-and-greet) to a concert with award-winning country music artist, Granger Smith. Want to be entered to win this stellar prize package? Comment each day AND also share each day’s giveaway on the social platform of your choice.
Now, this year for day one, we are kicking off the festivities with the queen of Christmas herself, Candace Cameron Bure. I mean, it just isn’t Christmas without one of her Hallmark Christmas movies, right? To get our series started this year, Candace is gifting one of you with something special from her Dayspring Simply Christmas collection.
But first, here is the idea of the day!
Day 1: The 3 Gift Tradition
When Todd and I became parents over 25 years ago we began the tradition of giving our kids just three gifts for Christmas. Yep…. that is not a typo. I said three. That is all baby Jesus received—remember gold, frankincense and myrrh? In fact, each of them received a gold gift, a frankincense present, and a myrrh package. Here is the concept:
GOLD GIFT
This, like gold, is a highly desired item; precious; maybe even pricey. A big ticket item like a toy, an electronic gadget, tickets to a professional sporting event, or a fancy coffee maker for our adult daughter.
FRANKINCENSE GIFT
Because the real frankincense was burned during prayer and arose heavenward, the gift in this category is something that will draw them closer to God. Perhaps a new Bible, a book series, a leather journal and fancy pen, or tickets to an event or concert.
MYRRH GIFT
This is a burial spice used to cover the whole body. So the myrrh gift does the same thing. It goes on the body. In past years this has been leather boots and a new coat for our daughter, a warm thermal jumpsuit and camo boots for our son who loves to hunt and eat venison, or maybe a favorite professional sports team jersey or pair of tennis shoes a child really wanted.
Since our kids knew the number of items was limited, they didn’t expect oodles of gifts—just three. And we also included them when we shopped for a less-fortunate family we adopted each year. We also took them along when we delivered the gifts to the family. It was good for them to see that we used some of the money we would have spent on more gifts for them to purchase for a family who might not be able to afford any gifts.
The three gift tradition. Try it out this year!
And now, here’s Candace’s fabulous giveaway!

Day 7 with Phylicia Masonheimer
I always try to fix a meal just for friends to let them know
That I think of them and. I say prayers for those. Who can
Not be with their friends and for all the Sick, homeless People and Animals ,,as well as for GOD TO PLEASE. HELP OUR WORLD AS WE HAVE MADE SUCH A MESS OF HIS GIFT.
Hello
Candy and socks. And an orange, as that’s what my stocking always had.
We love to gift our children gingerbread house sets and work on those every year!
We have a tradition of doing matching pajamas and this year we are doing Star Wars but they won’t be matching, , but at least we have the same theme
Each child, and now grand children, gets an ornament. Themes/series have changed thru the years. Our oldest will be receiving his 31st ornament this year.
We give our children an ornament that represents something special about them or the year.
We give each of our kids an ornament every year. We try to find one that in some way symbolizes their past year.
My children each get a Christmas ornament that is unique to them and their interests at their current age. When they grow up and have a Christmas tree of their own I plan on giving them the ornaments.
We’ve done matching Christmas Eve pajamas for the younger generation for several years- it makes the best pictures!
I usually try to make a gift every year. This year I made custom tumblers for my whole family. And our kids have a tradition of getting a Christmas Eve box and before they get new presents we get them to choose which toys they don’t use and donate them to a veterans place to help other kids.
Shared.
Beautiful.
My kids are little so I am loving how excited they get when they receive small gifts like towels, blankets and pajamas. I have always gifted them pajamas and I think that tradition will continue even as they get older.
Every year I get my mom perfume! I also love to make sentimental gifts but I do different ones every year :)
