*Give Away has Ended*

It is the final day of fun in our 12th annual 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways! If you’re just joining in, be sure to start at Day 1 here.

Today, we are showcasing the Grand Prize of the series, given away by me. But first, here is one last favorite recipe of ours for the holidays, perfect for Christmas morning. Christmas Breakfast Strata!

With it’s red and green colors from the peppers, serve it with yesterday’s featured cinnamon rolls and some fruit and you’ll have the makings of a yuletide brunch! And best of all, you can make this ahead and then just warm it in the oven or microwave Christmas morning. So easy!

Day 12: Christmas Breakfast Strata

1 lb. ground sausage (we use turkey sausage)
½  cup finely chopped green pepper
½  cup finely chopped red pepper
10 ounce can of tomatoes with green chilies, drained (We use Rotel brand)
9 large eggs, beaten
¾ cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. minced fresh garlic (or ½ tsp. dried)
2 cups thawed, frozen corn
12 ounces sour cream
12 ounces small curd cottage cheese
1 ½ cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
1 ½ cups Romano cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large skillet, brown sausage with peppers. Drain. Add tomatoes and set aside. Beat eggs in a large bowl and add flour, baking powder, salt, garlic, corn, sour cream and cottage cheese stirring well. Add cheeses. Stir in sausage and pepper mixture. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan and bake for 60-75 minutes until lightly golden and set up in the middle. Do not overbake. If it begins to brown too quickly, cover loosely with foil for the last 15-30 minutes of baking time. Enjoy!

  1. I grew up watching Annebelle’s Wish! It’s such a sweet story. Randy Travis narrates and is a voice of one of the main characters. It’s about a young boy who is deaf and prays for a voice for Christmas . If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it :)

  2. My favorite Christmas movie to watch with my children is Prep and Landing. I love so many other movies as well – especially Hallmark this time of year.

  3. I am not a person who watches movies more than once. Growing up I enjoyed Miracle on 34th St but can not tell you the last time I watched it.

  4. My favorite movie is White Christmas, actually I love the gowns in that movie, they are so beautiful. I always have so much fun with this Karen, you make me think and sometimes step out of my comfort zone, that’s okay though. So glad you did it again this year. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a year full of blessings ahead.

  5. One of our all favorite Christmas movies A Christmas Story. It brings back memories when we were growing up. A more recent movie that’s become a favorite of mine is A Very Merry Mix-Up Hallmark movie. It’s where a woman who’s engaged is going to meet her potential in-laws at Christmas and she ends up going to the wrong house. Of course she falls in love with the guy who likes them because her fiance is all about material things.

  6. I love th Christmas Box-saw it on DISH recently!! I love Elf -for a fun movie and White Christmas because who doesn’t love to here Bing Crosby sing AND have romance too!! This has been a fun series!!

  7. My most favorite Christmas movie is The Christmas Story! We watch it every year on Christmas Eve as a family tradition. I watched it as a little girl with my mom (her favorite also). I think keeping with this tradition makes me feel like a kid at heart because it brings back so many memories from my childhood Christmas’s when my father and brother were still with us. May the Lord bless you and your family this Christmas!!

  8. My favorite Christmas movie is ‘Midnight Clear’ with Stephen Baldwin. It’s about a few people who’s lives get intertwined on Christmas. It’s very real and very touching.

  9. Christmas vacation for sure and the original home alone movie. Somehow we always manage to watch those. Christmas or not. Lol.
