Day 3: Gifts and Goals

Many of you know that I have coauthored several books with my friend Ruth Schwenk of The Better Mom. She has been my guest here on the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways before. Now today, I am hosting her teenaged daughter Bella! Bella loves shopping, sketching, painting, hanging out with friends, and talking about ALL things beauty and fashion. And now, here’s Bella!

Every year for Christmas, my parents give each of us (I have two brothers and a sister!) a journal and a new devotional for the year ahead.

On Christmas night, we all spread out and spend some quiet time really thinking about our goals and intentions for the New Year. Then we write the goals we want to accomplish, habits we want to break, how we want to spend our time, and more in our new journal.

This tradition is my very favorite because it is always so good to reflect on how I’ve spent the past year and refocus for the year ahead. Because I spend the time to think and pray through what I want to focus on, I enter the New Year feeling organized and ready to go!

This tradition means so much to me so I’d love to encourage you to join me. And, if you are a parent you can start this tradition with your child!

And now, for today’s quick question: When you think of Christmas being the end of the year and New Year’s Day coming very soon, what is one goal, whether big or small, you have for 2021? Answer it in the comments below and you could win my giveaway!

Day 3 Giveaway

For day three, I giving away a New Years Reflection Bundle. This bundle has everything you need to create some great New Years’ resolutions!

It includes: the devotional Live by Sadie Robertson, a black lined notebook, two needle tip Pentel pens, a $10 Starbucks gift card, and a pack of highlighters!

Thanks Bella! Ok everyone, be sure to answer today’s quick question in the comments section below. And remember, if you want to be entered to win the grand prize, be sure to comment on all 12 days!

  1. Goals… those are always tough for me. I think I need to do a better of job of sharing Christ with those around me, whether it be through something as simple as a smile and a “hello,” to a full-on conversation about what Christ has done for me. My heart hurts right now because my son has turned away from Christ, and his wife and step-child do not seem to have any kind of relationship with Christ. I do not want to push and goad them into turning away from US, too, so I have to be careful of what I say and do, so I don’t turn them off. I am praying more diligently for them and for others, because I have recently seen God provide several miracles in our lives just in the last month or so. So, I guess this is my number one goal — share Christ!

  2. For the last couple of years, I started coming up with my word for the year, a word that would help me focus on my spiritual growth. I also pray about and try to add one Christ-centered activity for at least 1 child, rotating through the years.

  3. My goal for 2021 is to be more Christ centered. and drawn closer to God. I also want to be more focused on bible study and prayer. I always seem to fall short on these things.

  4. God always gives me a word for the new year. This year His word for me was Presence-His Presence. God knew exactly what He needed for me to hold on throughout the year through the tough trials and tests I have gone through –His Presence. So my goal for the end of this year and before the beginning of 2021 is to review my 2020 journal and remind myself of His faithfulness with His Presence. A goal for 2021, God-willing, is to promote my book on God’s faithfulness and healing through my years of anxiety (released Nov. 2019) to small groups so that I can be an encouragement to those who are gripped with fears.

  5. We just moved halfway across the US so I am hoping to find a solid church home that has community outreach opportunities! I believe Jesus is coming back soon & now is the time to love people to Him while there is still time!!

  6. One goal I have is to grow my Initial Outfitters Facebook group JOY to 500 members by the end of 2021. I joined Initial Outfitters in January 2020 because I was looking to partner with a company that held the same mission as myself. IOs mission is to “Make a Living that Makes a Difference”. We do that through our IO Loves program that provides education and meals to children in the US and abroad. Initial Outfitters is based in Auburn, Alabama and has a wide selection of jewelry, handbags, travel bags, apparel, home decor, gifts and so much more! In my JOY group, I share Bible verses, encouragement, recipes, reading recommendations, gift guides, IO specials and so much more!

  7. I love setting smaller goals so that I can accomplish them. My main focus for 2021 will be getting healthier. (Exercising more and making better food choices) I’ve become my parent’s caregiver this past year and need to be healthier so that I can help them better.

  8. Embrace the freedom given to me in Christ and let go of the chains and enemy strongholds that have been gripping me for so long.

  9. In 2021 I’d like to really find a way to lose some weight. I also feel like I need a closer wqalk with God. I am saved and have been for 31 years but with not being able to go to church since April I feel like something is missing.

  10. I want to get back into exercising. I have stopped going to the gym. But I would like it to be something that the the family does together.

  11. My great desire is to lead a life more outspoken with my love for the Lord. I want my life to be a clear reflection of Him!

  12. This year has brought more than just a pandemic for my family. My husband of 27 years has had 2 surgeries (the only ones he has ever had) and 3 more coming up. We have learned to trust more in God and know that no matter what He is holding through all of this.

  13. I have developed a behavior through the pandemic to be more distant with people, the physical distance is also an emotional one. I used to be more relaxed around friends and family and have more of a sense of pulling back. I have some (co-workers, family and friends) in “my bubble” but those who are not, I have not called or reached out to much. My goal for 2021 is to reach out and be more involved and do it more purposefully.

  14. This past year has brought many changes to my life from a new home to a new job in a new state. But, through much prayer and practicing patience, I feel God has placed me where I am supposed to be. For 2021, my goal is to learn to trust in the Lord more and continue learning and growing spiritually.
