Day 3: Gifts and Goals
Many of you know that I have coauthored several books with my friend Ruth Schwenk of The Better Mom. She has been my guest here on the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways before. Now today, I am hosting her teenaged daughter Bella! Bella loves shopping, sketching, painting, hanging out with friends, and talking about ALL things beauty and fashion. And now, here’s Bella!
Every year for Christmas, my parents give each of us (I have two brothers and a sister!) a journal and a new devotional for the year ahead.
On Christmas night, we all spread out and spend some quiet time really thinking about our goals and intentions for the New Year. Then we write the goals we want to accomplish, habits we want to break, how we want to spend our time, and more in our new journal.
This tradition is my very favorite because it is always so good to reflect on how I’ve spent the past year and refocus for the year ahead. Because I spend the time to think and pray through what I want to focus on, I enter the New Year feeling organized and ready to go!
This tradition means so much to me so I’d love to encourage you to join me. And, if you are a parent you can start this tradition with your child!
And now, for today’s quick question: When you think of Christmas being the end of the year and New Year’s Day coming very soon, what is one goal, whether big or small, you have for 2021? Answer it in the comments below and you could win my giveaway!

Thanks Bella! Ok everyone, be sure to answer today’s quick question in the comments section below. And remember, if you want to be entered to win the grand prize, be sure to comment on all 12 days!

However, first and foremost, I love my family and following Jesus. I want to inspire you to live beautifully in life, enjoy fashion, but without compromise. You ARE beautiful. To read through the old testament.
Be great full for what I have. We are very fortunate for all we have no matter how big or small.
My goal is to definitely spend more time in God’s word!
I love that tradition that your family has! My goal is to start (and keep!) a gratitude list.
One of my big goals is to find a literary agent for my memoir about cross-cultural belonging!
Finish purging/organizing closets
I’m starting college in January and my goal is to be successful at it (I’m 40?)
Great gift idea! My goal? Being more spontaneous in my giving and taking time to mentor some ladies at church.
I hope we get our finances better. 202 blessed us with my work giving me extra hours and letting me become full time. I also want to work on getting my children and I to a chiropracter and make sure everyone’s in good alignmnet.
Iโm looking forward to a new position that is more challenging.
Learn to be happy in my living situation. And if I canโt do that then itโs up to me to change things.
My goal is to have written a script for a Hallmark Christmas movie by the end of 2021.
I would love to finish a quilting project I started. I’m making quilts for each of kids out of their baby clothes as little keepsakes for them.
I want to be more intentional with my kiddos. We’ve been busy as Houseparents to pre-teen/teenage girls at a residential therapeutic ranch and our kids can sometimes get overshadowed by the pressing needs of our house girls. I want to find better balance in that, and also in giving God some of the “busy” so we don’t try to do it all on our own. <3
I’m really wishing, hoping and praying for financial freedom – increased income and getting out of debt.
I want to finally finish a project I’ve been working on for a few years!
I donโt do typical new year resolutions anymore, but instead I do โword of the yearโ to live by. Last year the word I chose was โpresentโ. I had a new baby and the demands of motherhood, being a wife and finding time for myself was a hard balancing act. I realized that I wanted to spend more time being present with my little family and that the other things with distractions from what really mattered. So I spent 2020 being PRESENT and I loved it! 2021 my word is going to be โseasonโ to remind myself that everything has a season and to enjoy the time youโre currently in.
My goal for 2021 is to simply be…be more in the Word, be more intentional with my family, to be more at peace, not taking anything for granted.
My goal is to be more consistent with my quiet time and to read through the Bible in a year. I started this last year, but didnโt finish. So I would love to do that starting with the new year!
Oh, Bella, what a wonderful tradition! My children are grown now, but I will encourage them to do this with their children! My BIG goal for 2021 is to write, promote my website, and be intentional about Godโs call for my life!
I want to blog some special words God has given to me to delve into Scripture.
My word for 2021 I think is going to be โlightโ … what that looks like in Godโs Word, what it means to live it out.
One of my goals for the new year is to spend a couple of times a week sharing a devotional – like Keys for Kids or a short story by zoom or facetime with the grandkids
I have never read through the Bible in one year. I hope to do that this year.
One of my goals for 2021 is to spend some time each day reading my Bible then spend some time reflecting on the reading our using the time to examine other things happening in my life.
