Day 4: Favorite Christmas Decoration

Our day four guest is a new friend of mine, Andrea Brouwer, also known as 31 Girl at Home. She is a wife to Jason, mother to Abigail and Caleb, a daughter, sister, caregiver, friend, mentor, dreamer, and most importantly believer in the One True King. She is also a DIY and lifestyle expert. (You’ll want to be sure to follow her on Instagram. ) And now, welcome Andrea!

As a DIY project lover, I love to decorate, especially at the holidays. Besides the nativity that my mother-in-law bought for me piece by piece over the years, I’d have to say my favorite Christmas decorations are our Christmas lights.

My goal for our house has always been to make it a home, and there is nothing better during the holidays than dimming the lights and letting the twinkle of the Christmas lights give your home that magical glow.

For today’s quick question, tell us what your favorite holiday decoration is and also why. Is it an heirloom nativity? A vintage snowman? A lovely tree topper? Answer and you might win my giveaway!

Day 4 Giveaway

Thanks Andrea! For day four, Andrea is giving away a set of three Plant Therapy Holiday Essential Oil Blends and an Opal House Essential Oil Diffuser. To enter, simply answer today’s question below in the comments section. And remember, if you want to be entered to win the grand prize, you must comment on all 12 days!

Hello! I am Andrea and I am the gal behind 31 Girl at Home! I am wife to Jason, mother to Abigail and Caleb, daughter, sister, caregiver, friend, mentor, dreamer, and most importantly believer in the One True King! I started my home decor journey on Instagram as a creative outlet to share our DIY home improvement projects, ideas on how to make your house a home, and other lifestyle content.  It is amazing what can happen when you completely surrender something over to God. My life, marriage, and job are three beautiful examples of that.

  1. I have so many!! A nativity that my parents bought us. They gave us a piece each year on our anniversary. That is one of my favorites.

  2. Mine is definitely our nativity scene. It’s hand carved from India and is prominently displayed on our mantle!

  3. I have several favorites. My Grandma’s nativity which I haven’t gotten out for years because of small children & another nativity I purchased in Czech Republic: the Mary, Joseph, & Jesus in manger are all one piece & I also have a sheep. They are made from natural materials & quite fragile. My one piece Olive nativity from Jerusalem stays out all year long.

  4. So many…my mom’s nativity that I grew up with, the nativity we bought when we first married, my Rolan Johnson ornaments that depict varying nativity scenes, the handmade beaded ornaments from my Gramie, Santa in the bathtub when you push the soap he whistles Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas while scrubbing his back, all the things my kids have made

  5. My grandma made ceramics for years, so I love pulling out the nativity she made me and I also have a christmas village that lights up!

  6. My favorite holiday decoration is my grandmother’s old school, light up porcelain wreath. Brings back great memories!

  7. I have two. My daughter-in-law gave me a picture of the stable. And my mother-in/law sold Avon. She purchased the whole nativity set over several years. Both of these gifts are near to my heart.

  8. My favorite decoration. A carousel we got years ago. These carousel horses light up and play music. I loved them because they are just so much fun to watch and listen to! And they are nostalgic.

  9. My favorite holiday decorations are anything my kids make. Our tree is just full of handmade ornaments, I love it so much!

  10. Besides the nativity scene we bought when we first got married, I inherited a set of my grandmother’s glass ornaments (complete with the twisty ties she used to hang them on the tree) and they now adorning my tree.

  11. I love the ornaments on our tree…they all have specific memories tied to them, either of a certain time or season of my life, or of special people in our lives. I also really love our Willow Tree Nativity set!

  12. Would probably be our “peanuts” nativity set, because the grandkids come over and play with it and tell the Christmas story

  13. During my first year of full time teaching, one of my students made me a silver angel. It still tops my tree every year (when I put one up).

  14. My favorite decorations are my nativities from my collection! I collected nativities for years and downsized when we moved into a smaller house. The ones I have left are my absolute favorites from special friends, family, and places I’ve been! I like to have them in every room in the house and I have a nativity tree as well.

  15. We get new ornaments each year for us and the kids that is significant for that year. I also like a painting that I made with a mom’s group — signifies fun, Jesus, and gathering.

  16. My favorite decoration to put out is my wooden nativity scene. My husband bought it for me on our very first Christmas and I hope to pass it down to one of my girls someday.
