Years ago, when our children were very young, a sw Years ago, when our children were very young, a sweet widow on our city block told me a statement Iโ€™ve never forgotten. She said that Christmas is an excuse to make someone elseโ€™s life better. ๐ŸŽ„โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’š This might look like adopting a family who deals with food insecurity or helping your church provide gifts for the children of people who are incarcerated. However, there are many actions we can take on a smaller scale that will also help to spread some Christmas kindness. Here are some ideas our family has tried over the years:โ € * Take hot cocoa to the Salvation Army bellringers around town.โ˜•๏ธ * Tip the worker assigned to corral all the grocery carts in the parking lot a $10 or $20 bill. Thank them for their hard work and tell them to treat themselves to something when their shift ends.๐Ÿ’ฐ * Scrape off vehicle windshields in the grocery store parking lot on a snowy day.โ„๏ธ * Take your family to a local nursing home or assisted living facility and make snowmen outside the residentsโ€™ windows. Before doing so, swing by your local Goodwill store to purchase scarves, hats, mittens, etcโ€ฆ for the snowmen. Also take along some sticks for their arms, large black buttons for their faces, and carrots for their noses.โ˜ƒ๏ธ * Place a basket on your front porch full of granola bars or individual bags of salty treats for the package delivery person. Be sure to write a note telling them to help themselves and thanking them for their hard work at the holidays.๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿ“ซ * Hand a gift card to a local salon to your favorite barista when they make your gingerbread latte this week. Tell them to treat themselves to a service at the salon and thank them for making your coffee for them all year long.๐Ÿ’Œ Any other ideas you have to share? ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ’šโค๏ธ

โ€œAnd the stockings were hung by the chimney with โ€œAnd the stockings were hung by the chimney with prayerโ€ฆโ€โญ๏ธ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ ๐Ÿ’š Each day until Christmas, pray for one person whose stocking hangs in your house. Write what you are praying for them on small slip of paper and tuck it in the stocking. Before the stockings are stuffed, place all the papers in an envelope to include as one of the items they will discover in their stocking that morning.๐Ÿ’šโค๏ธ
There are so many things in our lives that can cau There are so many things in our lives that can cause us to be #anxious: relationships โœ”๏ธ job situations โœ”๏ธ finances โœ”๏ธ church โœ”๏ธ ...and the list goes on. ๐Ÿ“ And when difficulties arise, our first reaction is to worry. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ But it doesnโ€™t have to be. ๐Ÿค” When you feel the worry rising, donโ€™t entertain the anxious thoughts. Be intentional about immediately choosing #prayer. ๐Ÿ™#Philippians4:6-7 . Here's an idea. . On a piece of paper list three things about which youโ€™re currently anxious. ๐Ÿ“Then use a different colored pen or ink marker to write over them โ€œI will not worry. I will pray,โ€ ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’• Then spend a few moments presenting these concerns to the Lord. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™Œ
