Today would’ve been my mother’s birthday. 🎂

Today would’ve been my mother’s birthday. 🎂 If she were still alive, we would have done our usual outing of Goodwill shopping and antique hunting while sipping a pumpkin spice latte, her favorite.🎃🧡☕️

But as much as she was a woman known for pumpkin spice, I knew her more as a woman who prayed. She prayed for her family. She prayed for her friends. She even prayed for those who hurt her most. When she passed away, I found her prayer list, scribbled on one of the many notepads she received from her donations to various veterans’ organizations. Two things about it stuck out to me.

🧡 She wasn’t fancy. She simply prayed. She listed 40 people in her life and prayed for them by name each day.

🧡 Secondly, you might not be able to see it from the photo, but the 40th person — the one she listed last— was herself. That’s what kind of human she was. She was always putting others first.
