What a ride it has been. (The first picture was taken 10 minutes before he popped the question.) I fell in love with him as a teenager. Today we are grandparents. We’ve experienced both good and bad times. But what has impacted me the most has been the horrible times. The sting of grief I’ve felt in the past five years as we lost eleven family members between the two of us. My three awful pregnancies where my hyperemesis landed me in the hospital and flat on my back for months. The fallout of dealing with childhood trauma, and my intense fear of Todd leaving me, like a half dozen women important to me experienced, beginning with my mom. Through it all, he’s been a rock. When I was constantly sick when pregnant, he’d tell me I’d never looked more beautiful. He held me at each of my parents’ graves when I fell apart. He’s been patient as I’ve been in counseling, at times fighting anxiety and depression and he’s held me when I’ve had panic attacks. And no matter how fearful I get that I will be left for someone else, he’s stayed faithful, reassuring me, despite my irrational thinking. Happy engagement anniversary, Todd. You have shown me God’s unconditional love in so many ways. I can’t imagine life with anyone but you.🩵
