Introducing Jen Thorn

letitgo_coverFUN FACT: I will be on Focus on the Family tomorrow and Friday talking about the message of LET. IT. GO. {basically how NOT to be a control freak and trust God instead.}

We talk about marriage, mothering and the home. (Not that I have any experience being controlling….cough….cough…) Click here to find a station or listen online.

This summer, I spoke at the Women Living Well conference. I got to be with some women I already knew and I got to meet some new ones too.

Jen Thorn is one of my favorite new friends!

Jen is a blogger over at Good Morning Girls. She also just this week started her own blog.

I just knew my readers would want to know about her place so I asked if I could interview her here today.

AND….I just knew you all would want to show her some cyber love so be sure to read to the end where I tell you how you can help out and I also give away some freebie books and resources to five of you who do!

Now…meet Jen!

Her bio in her own words:

joe and Jen
Jen and her hubby Joe. And no…..he is not from the hit TV show Duck Dynasty. ;)

I grew up in Germany and spent a few years as a missionary kid in Africa. I ended up at Moody Bible Institute where I met my husband and best friend. We have been married 16 years now and have 4 children (12, 9, 5, 3 ). Grandma and Grandpa live with us as well as our two little guinea pigs (Zoe and Chloe) and our Pitt/Australian Shepherd dog Lucy(Fur).

I love theology and have a passion to help women take their walk with God to a deeper level. I also have an obsession with anything that has to do with Egypt

As of this summer I have acquired an addiction to sweet tea and horchata.

THORN FAM

INTERVIEW:

Tell us a little bit about what life is like at your house these days.
I don’t even know where to begin so I’ll jump right into the craziness. I spend a fair amount of time peeling stickers off the walls and wiping up spilled drinks.  Having four children (12, 9, 5, 3) means there is never a shortage of laundry and since we homeschool my kitchen table is usually piled high with papers, crayons books and snacks.
My husband is a pastor so we spend a fair amount of time involved with church activities and my in-laws live with us which means are blessed with the opportunity to hang out with them everyday at dinner.
As a busy wife and mother, what made you decide to begin a blog?

I love theology. I especially love reading the old puritan authors like John Bunyan, Thomas Watson, Richard Sibbes, etc. I favor these writers because they had a way of taking deep theological truths and applying them to the everyday person. That is what I desperately need and want for my life.  There is immense blessings to be had when we tackle some of the harder passages of scriptures or an aspect of God’s character with the aim of experiencing it. But I am very forgetful so I need to write things down as a way to remember and work through issues. This is why I have started this blog. While writing to remember I also hope to be an encouragement to others who may be learning or going through the same things I am. It is good to know that we are not alone in our journey.

What type of topics can women expect to read about on your blog?
Tom Wells said, “There is a direct line that runs from our doctrine to our actions, from what is in our minds to what is in our words and ways… The heart spills over into life … Therefore the filling of the heart with wise thoughts of God becomes the most important and the most practical business in the world.”

That is what I want. I want to fill my heart and mind with right thoughts about God. We will look at topics like godliness, the fear of the Lord, meekness, anger, and the character of God just to name a few.

Wednesdays will be a time for a theological word of the week. It will consist of a theological term or phrase, a definition and a short paragraph applying that word.

Beside your blog, where else can women find you online?

I blog every Friday over at goodmorninggirls.org.
THANKS JEN!
