Happy Valentines Giveaway– Times Two!

Sweet cyber sisters–

How I hope this pre-scheduled post finds me happily in Charlotte, NC and ready to appear on Monday evening’s Made to Crave webcast. The webcast is free so log onto www.madetocrave.org at 8:00 pm EST to catch the last installment in Lysa TerKeusrt’s fabulous  and motivating series.

Oh, and if ‘ya wanted to whisper a prayer that I don’t cough or sneeze live on the air after a long week with the flu, why that would just be so greatly appreciated!! Your prayers have seen me through and I don’t want them to stop now!!!!

In the mean time, I have two fun Valentines Day giveaways for you–one for you married women and one for the single gals. I guess this is my equivalent of taking treats to school for my friends. :-)

Oh and speaking of treats…..hop on over to my dear friend LeAnn Rice’s site SheCooks.org where I am sharing a favorite treat recipe for Valentines Day–homemade peanut butter cups!

LeAnn is also a guest on this week’s Made to Crave webcast. (Where we will try to encourage you to crave God, not homemade peanut butter cups! But hey…a tiny treat is okay now & then, right?)

Enough chit-chat. Now, for the giveaways:

First, for the married women. A Red Hot monogamy giveaway. It includes:

~ A pack of red hot cinnamon tea light candles

~ Some dark chocolate-covered espresso beans

~ A bright red silicone kitchen hot pad

~ A totally rockin’ retro kitchen apron (Yes…the way to his heart at times is through his stomach. Other times its with a little old fashioned ‘horizontal fellowship’ if ya know what I mean!)

~ A signed copy of my friend (and fabulous speaker & author) Pam Farrel’s marriage book Red Hot Monogamy .

IF YOU ARE MARRIED and want to be entered to win this fun giveaway, simply leave a comment telling us your favorite romantic memory with your hubby.

It can be from yesterday or yesteryear. It doesn’t matter. Just let us know what you consider to be the most romantic thing the two of you have done. (Rated G of course!!!)

And…for now for my single friends. Here is your giveaway:

~ A jumbo milk chocolate bar fit for a Queen (or a prince, as long as he’s charming!)

~ Some P.S. I Love You Spring Fling scented lotion from Bath & Bodyworks

~ A bag of Lindt milk chocolates with white chocolate centers–simply divine!

~ A pretty pair of sterling silver earrings from Kohl’s

~ A copy of LeAnn Rice’s fabulous e-book Sharing Grace. LeAnn is a single, widowed mom with a love for others that is totally contagious!! Her book is full of recipes for blessing your friends & family– both around your table and through your life.

NOW FOR YOU SINGLE GALS: leave us a comment letting us know your favorite way to spend time with your friends. What do you do? Where do you go?

And for those of you who have a suggestion, what are some creative ways married women can make their single friends feel included? That is an area where I’d like some new ideas.

Okay now….leave your comments. I’ll be back on Wednesday to announce the winners.

Speaking of winners….the winner to the weekend’s Sweet Dreams giveaway is:

Ayla; time stamp February 11; 9:44 am

See you all on Wednesday!

  1. A couple of years ago my husband and I went to a Bed & Breakfast in Branson, MO. It was an awesome place with each room having it’s own private hot tub. ;) Loved it!

  2. My husband is pretty romantic but my favorite memory is our engagement. He had a whole evening planned out-dinner at the top of the John Hancock building, carriage ride to Holy Name Cathedral and, finally, proposal on his knees in front of the altar. Dinner went perfectly but when he suggested a carriage ride I said it was too cold (it was Feb. in Chicago!). So we took a taxi to Holy Name. He had suggested we go pray for my ailing aunt. In any event, his plans did not work out quite as planned because the church doors were locked! So, on the steps of Holy Name Cathedral, he got down on his knee and asked me to marry me. There were tons of people on the sidewalk and they started chanting “Say yes! Say yes!” When I said yes they all started cheering. it is such a special memory.

  3. I have the most fun going out with my Christian friends to visit the nursing homes and to go out to eat. We just laugh and talk and have the best time being ourselves and enjoying each others company.

  4. It’s hard to pick just one romantic moment! My husband buys me the most beautiful and romantic cardsd – I have saved every one. But the most romantic moment for me was when he saw me coming down the aisle (we’ve been married 6.5 years) and his face lit up. His eyes were so full of love and as we repeated the vows, his eyes filled with tears as he realized he (and I) had found our life-time loves, our soul mates.

  5. A group of us get together and work on our craft projects. We get to chat, catch up on families, drink coffee and maybe even get a snack. This is such a special time for us.

  6. What a great giveaway.

The most romantic moment between me and the hubby was when he brought me a dozen roses for no reason at all. Just that he had be thinking about me.

Also, I have an email folder filled with all his “love emails”. We lived 3 hours apart. I still go back, 10 years later, and read them again and again. I feel the same flutters as I did the firs time I read that new email.

  7. I am married and my favorite love memory os just last night when I couldn’t sleep so I got up to go out on the couch to read my Bible and listen to some praise music. When he realized I had gotten up, he came out to see if I was okay. He gave me a big kiss and wished my Happy V-day and then couldn’t wait to give me the gift he had for me, so he went and got. It was just a very special moment for me. Thank you for the chance to win the married giveaway.

  8. My favorite memory is when my hubby proposed to me on the beach at the Lighthouse at Cape Disappointment. Long fun story, too long to type. :)

  9. It’s not my only favorite memory of my husband but one that sticks in my head as being sweet, thought-out, and romantic. My (now) husband asked my dad for permission to marry me on my birthday, just before Christmas. I was not aware of what he had done but, soon, my WHOLE family knew his intentions. The next evening we took a quick trip to Gatlinburg, TN. He wanted to propose on the Ober Gatlinburg tram but it was closed. Instead, we took a long walk around downtown by ourselves (it was around 1 a.m.) and talked about what we wanted for Christmas. He asked me what I wanted. When I told him I had everything I wanted w/ him, he asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes. It was so sweet and romantic.

  10. I have a few fun romantic times in mind – but I think it’s the simple little things like a coffee ready for me in the morning, or even an unexpected diaper change (the baby, not one of us!!) Love my man…

  11. The day we got engaged, I went to his house thinking we were going out that night. He had roses and tealights making a path to the dining room where he had made dinner. After dinner, more roses and tealights led the way to the couch in the family room where he washed my feet and promised to be a servant to me and asked me to be his wife.

  12. Happy V day! My hubby and I celebrated early-on Sat. when we had a babysitter (grandma!) over to watch our 3 week old baby boy…..very difficult for this mamma as it was the 1st time I’ve been away from him. We went to dinner and just enjoyed our time together. As we prepared to leave for the restauarnt, I started to cry because I already missed our little guy but I’m glad we went. I think it’s important to keep romance alive despite exhaustion and diaper changes!

What a GREAT prize pack! :)

  13. My husband proposed to me on a little island in a lake nearby. He had some friends set up the place ahead of time (complete with blanket, music, picnic basket with cheese, crackers, salami, grapes, sparkling cider, and of course my ring in a box in a ziplock bag). He told me we were meeting friends there and could I go see if they were around the other side of the island. Meanwhile he tied up the waverunner and followed me. I didn’t find our friends, but found the blanket and goodies he sent ahead. He proposed down on his knee and our friends arrived a little later to congratulate us! I loved all the planning and preparation he put into it! We have been married for 14 years so far!

  14. Way back in the day, Hubby was working a second job at Domino’s Pizza and had to work Valentine’s Day at his regular job, then go deliver all night. I expected him home after midnight, but the doorbell rang and there he was…delivering me a heart shaped pizza and roses.
p.s. what a great idea… I loved looking over everybody else’s sweet moments!

  15. My husband is always doing thoughtful things for me and he is really great at making me laugh. One Valentine’s Day I bought him a balloon that said I love you on it. Since I went to work much earlier in the morning than he did, I left the balloon in the kitchen for him attached to a card. Well at lunch time I went out to my car and there was that balloon with the word “too” with lines drawn under it next to the “I love you”. My oldest was 4 at the time and he had helped his daddy deliver the balloon. When I picked my son up from preschool, he made sure that I knew that Daddy had given me that balloon and wasn’t that nice of Daddy. I tried to explain to my four year old that I had bought the balloon and given it to Daddy, but he would have nothing to do with that story. He insisted my husband had bought the balloon for me. We still look back on this Valentine’s Day and have a good laugh.

Karen, I know you will do a great job tonight on Made to Crave. I will be praying for you.

  16. A memory of romance with my husband is way back in college when we danced in the dark at a local park. Silly, I know… but it still makes me smile.

  17. Hi Karen:
I am just now listening to the MTC conference call from Melissa Taylor’s on-line bible study where you were a guest speaker and shared part of your testimony. I am looking forward to checking in on your website a few times a week and getting to know you better. Not a lot of time to stay and “chat” today but I just wanted to say hi.

  18. The most romantic moment with my hubby was during our honeymoon this past june. I talked him into kyaking down the river…he has no flexibility & is a rather large guy…my teddy bear. Well, 10 min into it he had rolled over, lost his favorite orange crocs, begged me to continue without him but never got in a bad mood instead we trecked through woods and got a ride to the cabin for some pizza & an old dvd. Looking back he put himself in an uncomfortable situation knowingly but it was for me. What love!

  19. When my husband and I were dating in college he made me this hand written card with things glued on it in place of certain words (like hershey kisses for the word kisses and a red plastic heart for the word heart) It was very sweet!

  20. The first valentine’s day after we were married, I came home from a hard day at work to rose petals sprinkled from the front door to the bathtub filled with bubblebath! Definitely a man worth keeping (and we’ve been married for 20 years!!).

  21. My 1st Valentine with my hubby he bought me a Pandora bracelet with a heart lock n key and a diamond cross on it. So not expected, so appreciated and now we have added slowly marking special ocassions with a charm what an incredible daily reminder of him and us!
    Happy Valentine’s Day!
    kareng

  22. Our first Valentines day my husband bought me a small stuffed animal and a pair of silver earings. He put the earings on the animal like it had pierced ears. It was definitely an awwww moment!
