Welcome to those of you who made your way here after reading my Proverbs 31 Ministries devotion today entitled When To Weigh Your Words. {If you haven’t read this devotion, click here to so.}

Today is the release day of my latest book KEEP IT SHUT: What to Say, How to Say It & When to Say Nothing at All. It includes a six-week DVD Bible study with a Bible study workbook designed for individual or group use.

This book was both painful and exciting for me to write.

Painful because my mouth has gotten me in so much trouble over the years.

And exciting because I have seen how God has used His Word to change my words and allowed me to suffer from foot-in-mouth disease so let’s often!

So, in honor of the release…………WE’VE GOT GIVEAWAYS!!!!

But first….I am MOST excited about this:

Keep It Shut helps our lips….and theirs……

SPLogo_Lg5% of all the profits from KEEP IT SHUT will be donated to Samaritans Purse for their cleft lip repair ministry.

13107SD-I-154-cleft-lip-donateIn South Sudan, children who are born with a cleft lip are often shunned by society because of the false belief that they are possessed by evil.  The money donated will help volunteer medical teams to perform cleft lip and palate surgeries for patients of all ages. As we learn to use our lips for good and not evil, we can help these sweet children be rid of this horrible stigma in their society.

Now….for the giveaways….

First, as promised in the devotion….I am giving away a KEEP IT SHUT bundle that includes a Kindle Fire!

  7. This would be an awesome gift to win. My son is 16 and we are doing studies together this year. Good luck everyone and Thank you so much for this opportunity Karen Ehman :D God bless you ?

  8. Spreading the word – tweeted, face-booked, and pinned! Looking forward to reading this! One of my memory verses is Psalm 141:3 “Help me to guard my words whenever I say something.” (CEV) Thanks for all the chances to win a copy.

  9. I would love to win this set! I am having a tough time parenting my 3rd child, now 15, and so much of it stems from saying the wrong thing, when I should often just stay quiet. I’m not too old to learn something, so hopefully, I will win!

  10. Thank you for this blog. I often have a issue of inserting foot and before I realize it, it is so far down, there is no recovering the conversation. My problem is I just talk too much. I need to learn to be friendly but stay simple with my answers. I leave many conversations thinking to myself, “gosh Sheila you talk too much, when are you going to learn to just shut up?”
I need to start running my words through a grid, like you mentioned, and listen when I just need to shut up.

  11. I so loved your post and am convicted a lot when speaking to my husband. I am praying that the holy spirit will help me to be kind when interacting with my family. We tend to treat them worse with our words. Looking forward to reading your new book and signing up for the bible study.

  12. Three days into the New Year and I was speaking angry and unkind words to my husband, RATHER than pausing to pray and asking the Holy Spirit to His Word into my mind. I was so convicted later by the blog, Our Words Matter! We so need to be led by the Spirit and speak God’s Word, instead of flesh woman’s words! As God’s children we are His work in progress! In spite of what comes out of us, due to our sinful natures, we must speak the Word and empower each other with God’s Truth, not flesh woman’s unfruitful words.
Looking forward to doing this online study!! Please consider me for your bundle giveaway of your new book!!

  13. I am thrilled to post to Facebook and Tweet. I am NOT on the other sites. If this is even close to as good as Let. It. Go., it will be a great blessing to a lot of people.

I praise Our God for often reminding me to be kind, encouraging, uplifting, truthful, and most of all loving. I was just praying at 5 am as I was running at the gym this morning this very prayer.
