After many years of writing in her prayer journal, missionary Sarah Young decided to “listen” to God with pen in hand, writing down whatever she believed He was saying to her.

It was awkward at first, but gradually her journaling changed from monologue to dialogue.

She knew her writings were not inspired as Scripture is, but they were helping her grow closer to God.

Others were blessed as she shared her writings, until people all over the world were using her messages. They are written from Jesusโ€™ point of view, thus the title of these thoughts-turned -book, Jesus Calling.

In keeping with the theme of Jesus Calling, I’m offering the following as a giveaway to one of my cyber friends:

~ The book/journal Jesus Calling with space each day for your own journaling.

~ A set of fine-tip Sharpies–my favorite kind of pen :-)

~ A week-at-a-glance schedule pad to write down your appointments with God & others.

~ A pair of fuzzy, shea-infused, lavender-scented lounge socks from Bath & Body Works to keep you comfy when you are spending time with God.

~ Two packets of flavored hot cocoa–one raspberry & one tiramasu.

Will you leave a comment today to be entered in the drawing? Tell us what distractions keep you from connecting with God during your day.

Or what changes you’d like to see in this area.

Or, if you’d just like the giveaway to help you in your quest to connect with God, simply say “I’m in!”

The winner will be announced Monday.

Speaking of winners, congrats to the winner of 31 Days to a Younger You. She is: Lana. Send your home address to me at [email protected]

Happy Weekend, everyone!

  1. I am wanting to resume journaling and also spending time with the Lord; but, right now, something (someone) is doing everything he can to keep from spending time in God’s Word. My house is a MESS and I want to get it liveable. I have been reading Christian books, but not the Bible. This is keeping me in a constant state of depression. I know what I need to do, but can’t seem to get it done. Hopefully, this prize MAY help me “get started.” Thanks,

    Rita

  2. In my (rare, but essential) quiet time, I find my mind continues to race to other thoughts. I begin focused, yet a word triggers a to-do list item, or a prayer lifted for another brings up a past conversation. I so desire to have my quiet time be quiet time with Him (with a quiet mind!). One thing I am glad about is that I feel my conversation throughout the day with Him has increased. (I just need to keep those ears open and listening in those conversations too!)

    Thank you for this opportunity.
