Day 3: Gifts and Goals

Many of you know that I have coauthored several books with my friend Ruth Schwenk of The Better Mom. She has been my guest here on the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways before. Now today, I am hosting her teenaged daughter Bella! Bella loves shopping, sketching, painting, hanging out with friends, and talking about ALL things beauty and fashion. And now, here’s Bella!

Every year for Christmas, my parents give each of us (I have two brothers and a sister!) a journal and a new devotional for the year ahead.

On Christmas night, we all spread out and spend some quiet time really thinking about our goals and intentions for the New Year. Then we write the goals we want to accomplish, habits we want to break, how we want to spend our time, and more in our new journal.

This tradition is my very favorite because it is always so good to reflect on how I’ve spent the past year and refocus for the year ahead. Because I spend the time to think and pray through what I want to focus on, I enter the New Year feeling organized and ready to go!

This tradition means so much to me so I’d love to encourage you to join me. And, if you are a parent you can start this tradition with your child!

And now, for today’s quick question: When you think of Christmas being the end of the year and New Year’s Day coming very soon, what is one goal, whether big or small, you have for 2021? Answer it in the comments below and you could win my giveaway!

Day 3 Giveaway

For day three, I giving away a New Years Reflection Bundle. This bundle has everything you need to create some great New Years’ resolutions!

It includes: the devotional Live by Sadie Robertson, a black lined notebook, two needle tip Pentel pens, a $10 Starbucks gift card, and a pack of highlighters!

Thanks Bella! Ok everyone, be sure to answer today’s quick question in the comments section below. And remember, if you want to be entered to win the grand prize, be sure to comment on all 12 days!

  1. My goal for 2021 is to be intentional and purposeful about more things, and in doing that, to carry out at least 5 specific goals.

  2. My goal is to actively work on improving my health–spiritually, mentally, and physically in 2021. I have struggled with all 3 in 2020, and I am looking forward to broghter, more intentionally positive days.

  3. What a sweet tradition to have with your family! One of my goals for 2021 is to be more intentional in reaching out to friends. It’s easy to get distracted by everyday tasks, but life is sweeter with other people.

  4. Goals for 2021? It’s hard to know how even to think about it. I’m a serious planner, and that’s been very difficult lately, which is stressful. I guess I need to learn to be more flexible and to enjoy what’s good in whatever the current circumstances are.

  5. My focus for 2021 is the get healthy – both physically and spiritually. My word for the year is Intentional. I want to be intentional towards all those God has placed in my life and intentional in moving in the direction every day of getting healthy.

  6. As a child, we always went out on Christmas Eve (or during that week) to see the lights in the neighborhood. It was such a treat for us and a wonderful time as a family. We would have the radio on and listen to the Santa report telling us where Santa had been spotted so we would be home long before he got there.

  7. It’s a little vague but I would like to be more self disciplined, especially spiritually. I also want to keep a cleaner home and make it more of a haven for my family (and me!)

  8. I’m not a resolution maker but over the past few years have been prayerful about selecting my word for the upcoming year. It’s always so interesting to see how that plays out in the upcoming year. Recent words have been flexible, quiet (be still), and intentional. I think 2021 will be see.

  9. I don’t normally make resolutions or a plan, but this past year has been quite unusual to say the least. That being said, I want to be more intentional in seeing others points of view rather than discount them because they may not line up with mine. After all, we are just trying to get through life, and if my words and actions point others to God’s glory, then I’m living out the word.

  10. To live more simply (from clutter). So friends can drop in more often- that’s how we do ministry, with an open home
